  1. The ART 311 looks like a capable unit for the price. Good luck with your project jazzman!
  2. I like the Audio Control Richter Scale for an application like yours. The original has a selectable 18dB/octave XO (100 or 800Hz) and sells for $50-100 on ebay. The Series III uses a readily available 16 pin DIP resistor network to change the XO frequency. Figure on paying $100 (w/o cal mike) to $200 (complete with box and manual) on ebay.
  3. I like How Will The Wolf Survive? but I haven't heard anything else that you aren't already familiar with.
  4. The original version of Please Come Home for Christmas written by Charles Brown A couple of real good covers
  5. Here are two versions of Santa Baby. Which one do you like best? Eartha Kitt with Henri René and his Orchestra (1954) Nicole Scherzinger and the Pussycat Dolls (2006)
  6. Now THIS is an interesting pairing
  7. And let's not forget our Jewish friends during the holidays
  8. Judy Garland from the 1944 movie musical Meet Me In St. Louis If this doesn't get you misty-eyed you better check your pulse.
  9. I've loved the Carol Of The Bells since I sang it with my grammar school choir. If you prefer instrumentals you can't beat Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. I love how the The Dance Of The Sugarplum Fairy conjures up Christmas eve.

  11. Howdy fhawk and welcome to the forum.Hope you enjoy you stay. I'm not familiar with the MP1.5, however, about 40 years ago I did sound reinforcement for theatrical productions. The house amps at the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse had similar adjustments for setting up the protection circuit. I don't recall the brand and don't remember adjusting them though. (We didn't push them anywhere near their limits.)
  12. Howdy Greg and welcome to the forum. Good luck with your repairs.
  13. As far as I am aware there is only one "version" of TriCycle. WARNING - This disc has an incredible dynamic range and starts out relatively quietly. You will be tempted to turn up up the gain but for the sake of your speakers DON'T DO IT !!!
  14. All of the early DMP recordings are primo but especially TriCycle by Flim & the BBs.
  15. Worked for me. Maybe your pop-up blocker shut you down. This one should work:
  16. Voodoo Chile by Jimi Hendrix
  17. Howdy Dave and welcome to the forum.
  18. I agree with Rodney. I was always more into the music as opposed to the lyrics. One major exception was Steely Dan. They really knew how to turn a phase. (Anybody that names their band after a strap-on dildo and get's away with it is OK in my book!) KID CHARLEMAGNE While the music played you worked by candlelight Those San Francisco nights You were the best in town Just by chance you crossed the diamond with the pearl You turned it on the world That's when you turned the world around Did you feel like Jesus Did you realize That you were a champion in their eyes On the hill the stuff was laced with kerosene But yours was kitchen clean Everyone stopped to stare at your technicolor motor home Every A-Frame had your number on the wall You must have had it all You'd go to L.A. on a dare And you'd go it alone Could you live forever Could you see the day Could you feel your whole world fall apart and fade away CHORUS: Get along, get along Kid Charlemagne Get along Kid Charlemagne Now your patrons have all left you in the red Your low rent friends are dead This life can be very strange All those dayglow freaks who used to paint the face They've joined the human race Some things will never change Son you were mistaken You are obsolete Look at all the white men on the street CHORUS Clean this mess up else we'll all end up in jail Those test tubes and the scale Just get them all out of here Is there gas in the car Yes, there's gas in the car I think the people down the hall Know who you are Careful what you carry 'Cause the man is wise You are still an outlaw in their eyes CHORUS
  19. Consumer audio gear have been standardized for years so virtually any amp can be connected to any preamp. I'd be more concerned about how you plan to use the preamp. For instance: Is your system straight stereo or home theater (5.1 or 7.1)? Do you have balanced (1/4" or XLR) or unbalanced (RCA) equipment? How many source inputs do you need? How many preamp outputs do you need? Do you have a moving coil cartridge? Do you have multiple sound processors or tape decks? Do you plan to expand in the future?
  20. Howdy Mike and welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your stay with us. You came to the right place. Lot's of knowledgeable Carver addicts here!
  21. weitrhino is correct. The line of 4 mids should be on the inside, closest to the opposite speaker. The other pair of mids is responsible for the "dimensional array" effect. Speaking of the dimensional array", do you have the interconnect cable that runs from one speaker to the other?
  22. Very nice set up Ratamahatta!
