waybomb 10 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Hello all Just purchased a TFM35 and a CT16 from 69chevelle. (Thanks!) I am putting something together for my warehouse. It is 7000 sq.ft. 70 x 100 x 14t. The construction is steel. The ceiling is thick fiberglass insulation bats, vinyl lined. The walls are corrugated steel sheet. There will always be a large boat parked right in the middle, and there will always be some cars and a couple of enclosed trailers taking up volume. In the winter months, most of the space will be filled in with trailer boats. I am looking for suggestions on what speakers might work. At home. I am partial to Klipsch for sound. Not sure if any of them would work well in such a large open area. If needed, could hang short curtains from the ceiling. Thanks in advance! Fred
4krow 6,595 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Oh my, first world problems. But seriously, you might have a good idea going with klipsch. Might need the corner horns though. Really man, that IS a large space to fill. Good thing about the fiberglass insulation. I have seen it before, and you wouldn't get by sonically w/o it.

Just go with the big boys from Klipsch Pro:
waybomb 10 Posted February 18, 2023 Author Posted February 18, 2023 The big boys..... I think those are out of my price range.

Your space is huge-- you trying to fill the whole thing or just get sound in one area? I don't think any "home" speaker is going to fill that space.
waybomb 10 Posted February 18, 2023 Author Posted February 18, 2023 (edited) The office is in one corner. Next to it is my 4 post cart lift. I'll spend most of my time there at the car lift working on stuff. I was worried more about noise reflection and other unknown to me oddities in such a big space. Edited February 18, 2023 by waybomb
4krow 6,595 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 I see what you mean. There might be a close range approach to listening here. If the volume can remain down then reflections may be less of a problem. Near field listening may work, but then again it depends on your actual working position. Trying not to overthink this, yet maybe a shot of your workspace would give some hints. 1
Packratt 395 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Carverpro's setup probably would fill the whole building to a reasonable listening level 1
Ar9Jim 6,512 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 (edited) Klipsch or other high efficient (95 db/w/m) or more will get your workspace excited. If you are focusing on work, it may be loud enough. The steel walls will be very reflective. Corrugation will help. More distance you have from the walls is a benefit. Using something with sound absorbent qualities at the 'points of 1st reflection' within your room will be a great help. These treatments can mount on walls or hang from chains like you mentioned. Some good instructions can be found in the room setup guild from the C1 preamp. The same treatments recommended for best sonic holograph actually applies to all audio set-ups. Page 30. https://thecarversite.com/manuals/mandir/Carver C-1 owner manual.pdf Points of 1st reflection in listening rooms. Treat those for great improvements in any room. Great bang for the $. oldtexasdog 2,456 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Whether it’s something like Caverpro’s or even an array of Atrum speakers with a sub if I may suggest get a Driverack PA2 to do the room corrections. It will accomplish it almost automatically. Sound engineers and club DJ’s use it to set up and correct the sound in various venues. I used it and loved what it did for my space. Not that expensive either. 5

compwaco 1,129 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 I'm not sure what your price range is but we have a set of Yamaha S215V to put outside by my son's pool. They really sound exceptional for this type of speaker. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/309195-REG/Yamaha_S215V_S215V_2_Way_Dual.html
waybomb 10 Posted February 19, 2023 Author Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) I'm going to try out of some older cv at12 that have new cv foam that I have. We"ll see how these party speakers work I'll report back when I get it all together. What model cv are those with the horns? I'm in SW Michigan, on the lake. Edited February 19, 2023 by waybomb 1

gentlejax 199 Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 (edited) I use these myself. https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjurJ3a0Lv9AhWLbG8EHWbxD98YABANGgJqZg&cit=EAIaIQobChMI7qyd2tC7_QIVi2xvBB1m8Q_fEAQYASABEgLwyPD_BwE&ei=ob3_Y6qsDOOnptQPzYeY6AE&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAASJORo2JIfjLIDr5rJ_mbHPc1kzattNJeF8SXPDdqxGuck3-uVsQ&sig=AOD64_3hubo2sByJzri8DMe6eRPjCHlubg&ctype=5&q=&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwjqgJTa0Lv9AhXjk4kEHc0DBh0Qwg8oAHoECAEQDA&adurl= Edited March 1, 2023 by gentlejax
Community Admin AndrewJohn 10,455 Posted March 3, 2023 Community Admin Posted March 3, 2023 I believe I have found the ultimate pair of speakers..., located just where @Robshould go and pick them up. I've heard their little brother, the 4430, at a friends house..., ooh, boy, I'm not a big JBL fan, but these are sweet sounding. These JBL 4435's will blow away anything..., because with the baby-bottom tweeters and dual drivers..., well, they really "move some air"... Located in Holly, MI, just a few miles from you, @Rob. I'm sure a pair of M4.0t's set up as monoblocks will keep your neighbors visiting your front door! 😉 (Send them away unless they bring a good bottle of bourbon to give you, and are willing to listen and "enjoy the music." Rob, if you pick them up, I will come visit. 😉 Just let me know when is a good time for the audition. I'll bring some Buffalo Trace. LoL. You will not be disappointed ! Rob 5,982 Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 (edited) They are only rated at 375 watts per channel. $5000 LOL. I'm not saying that they wouldn't sound good but I would pass. Once we get those OHM I's dialed in I will be set and the dilemma is over. Edited March 4, 2023 by Rob 1
waybomb 10 Posted April 5, 2023 Author Posted April 5, 2023 Finally hooked everything up. Placed the CVs on top of the office. About 9 feet from the floor, at one end of the building. No crazy echos. Loud for sure. I'll probably eventually get some Klipsch, but these are fine for now. 2
