Hi, hello, how are you?!

Recommended Posts

Short time lurker, first time poster.  Handle is pronounced "weirdo" if you were wondering.

Recently secured a pair of Original Carver Amazings (S/N 1227) that are in surprisingly good condition for the $400 I gave for them.  After replacing some screws on the ribbons, gently tightening, and gluing one of the honeycomb woofer's "cone" back to its motor assembly they have been pleasantly coming back to life.  Currently powered by a 150ish w/ch Honey Badger amplifier I built to power a pair of Infinity RS6000s that were my mains until the Amazings arrived...and the Amazings will definitely need more juice!!  That juice will be provided by a couple Slewmaster amps I have yet to build, hopefully in the 500w/4r ballpark (5pair Sanken MT-200 outputs each)...

Searched for these speakers for roughly 5yrs and super grateful to have found a pair to call my own.  They will be relished until my last breath.

Anyway, very thankful this forum exists and hopefully I can reach out to sea (Ed) about 30" ribbon repair (or purchasing a pair of 60" ribbons)!

If you've read this far, thanks for your time!!

Hello w33rd0h and welcome to thecarversite.com. @sea is the goto guy for Carver ribbons.

Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading some pics of your system in the Member's Systems area. We all love pics of all kinds of gear.

Thanks for the warm welcome!  I'm happy to showcase my setup and projects once Novice status has been achieved.  The Carver Site might get a kick out of the Quasimodo looking crossover upgrade I did on the RS6000s...good thing they sound better than they look!!

Thanks @AndrewJohn!  I've PM'd Ed here.  Currently in negotiations for an entire set of replacement drivers and 30" ribbons, plus 4 additional 30" ribbons needing repair...so the Amazings should survive for many years to come!!  Also tempted to copy the baffle shape in baltic birch plywood and go nuts on audiophile boutique crossovers, OEM+++ style🤑

Welcome to the forum Sir, glad to have you aboard.

Damn glad to be here @BluesMan57!  There will be plenty of blues through these Amazings.  Riviera Paradise by SRV is a wonderful song for finding ribbon buzzes, btw!  I see you're a Klipsch lover, eh?  Had a pair of KLF-30s not long ago that made me reconsider horn speakers.  Too big for my room, though.  A pair of Heresy's would do nicely in the garage or bedroom...🤔
