peck555 366 Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 Peck555, . If I only had to choose one headphone it would be the Stax, if I went for another set of conventional headphones it would be one of the upscale Grados. Hope this helps. Actually I owned Grado 325's for 20 years, but they finally gave up the ghost, I always liked the sound, but comfort is not their middle name. Although, I have read that you can put the more comfortable larger ear pads from the more expensive line on them.
hipmomk 1 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I guess we are all as OCCD about speakers as Carver gear. jldeni 439 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Had to think about it... I really only use a couple of the set ups on a daily basis... Main stereo set up: 1 pair Klipsch Cornwall II's Family room: 1 Bose Acoustimas 7 5.1 set up Work bench: 1 Bose Acoustimas 5 set up 1 Bose Acoustimas 3 set up Stored in the garage - tops are good; 18" woofers in the subs are blown: 1 pair Electrovoice Eliminators 1 pair Electrovoice Eliminator subs I forgot about the editor set up: a very nice pair of Behringer Truth monitors with their own biamps, and the stage set up: five Peavy slanted floor monitors, and the small Altec system I have running off the main computer in my office. Overall, I guess Speakers 'R' us!

And that's not even the stuff IN my cars!! (I've left the Bose systems alone in my Cadillacs -STS & XLR- because they're integrated with the navigation system and other vehicle configuration... And there's no point or fun installing a cool system in my wife's Honda Odyssey) So that would be about 30 pairs of home speakers plus sub woofers and center channels, and the one-offs. And about 10 pairs of car speakers...
Odysseous 11 Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Damn! Once you put it in writing like that, I don't know if I should be proud of all the equipment collected throughout the years or embarrassed of all the crap I've accumulated throughout the years!! I think I should put half of this stuff in craigslist...

dazed_and_confused 194 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I've gotten quite sensible about speaker ownership after realizing that A - they take up too much room, and B - they're the hardest thing to sell (when you live in the boonies and shipping is the only option). So my modest collection is down to: Main Listening Room Talon Khorus on Target R1's. Michael Green Floorstanders HSU Sub Bedroom 1 Apogee Caliper Sigs Bedroom 2 QLN Signature Splitfield II Closet Carver Amazing Plat Hybrids Various items of dross - computer speakers, outdoor speakers etc However, it's that time of year again where outdoor activity takes second place to hanging around on forums and getting corrupted by all you fiends....so who knows how the list will look come March 2015
trav0810 586 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 This time last year, I had 6 pairs. Now I have only 1 pair. Polk RTA15TL's. They aren't a bad speaker, but I want to get back into a pair of SDA's or DQ10's.
madmike46 398 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I only have 4 pair I have a pair of Advance A+'s, a pair of Polk Audio 5b's, a pair of EPI 200b's with a pair of Hiel tweeters (glue let go on one of the original EPI tweeters) and my latest acquisition a pair of Technics SB-7000a's.The Advance speakers I purchased new in 1982, I've refoamed the surrounds and upgraded the cross overs, just sitting in their original boxes, I have cats so it is the safest place for them at the moment. The Polks I purchased new in 1987, these have the upgraded tweeters and upgraded the cross overs with Clarity Caps and Mundorff resistors. The EPI's were a garage sale find from a couple of years ago, had the magnet glue let go on one of the original tweeters. Thanks to Rod ( Doh-R) he pointed me to a fellow on Canuck Audio Mart that had a pair of Hiel Tweeters. They pretty much fit right in with just a little sanding and opening up the hole for square magnets. The last pair are my favorites, the Technics have a huge sound stage most of the time I don't have SH engaged on the C-1.

One woofer voice coil would rub when you cranked it up more than a couple of watts but otherwise they were in decent shape. Gone in 20 minutes. Still have a pair of old Koss headphones, was one of there best back when they were one of the better headphone makers. I never use them, hate wearing headphones. I think my 350Z and my RAM 1500 eanch have 6 or 7 speakers.
