  1. Or you could live by the wise words of NWA -- "F*ck the Police"
  2. How could I forget - The Doobie Brothers, "China Grove"...
  3. Very nice bike - I remember wanting a bullet bike right out of high school. The ad for the Ninja 1000 said "0-60 faster than you can read this." Further proof that teenage boys only think of speed & sex:-)
  4. As cool as that would be, I think that you should hang on to all those drivers - They are getting VERY hard to come by.... Gotta keep back-ups for speakers of that vintage!
  5. Thanks Perry. LOL.....are you talking Bose Wave Guide? Bose is the best - Oprah says so...
  6. That one is up there for me, too...
  7. Very nice, Gene -- I'm thinking custom sub home build with the 4 old drivers...
  8. We all have THAT song or album, that just makes you mash the gas and go fast... What is it? For me, It's gotta be Motley Crue's Kick Stat My Heart... Just makes me want to go FAST:-)
  9. No worries, at all It's my fault for not capturing serial numbers (When I started I didn't expect I'd be doing so many and still doing so 5 years later) I gave away the recipe, but didn't expect that people aside from myself would be doing this commercially; the original idea was to start a dev forum (this site) and since I gave away the details under the open source hardware license, my assumption was that there'd be an active community of developers (as there is with open source software ) so far, I'm the only one that has contributed to the development community (the fulcrum bias pivot and upcoming gmod); the remainder of mk II out there are either people making them for their own gear (bravo guys) or leeches using the formula for profit I only asked because I've had several people try to get me to fix their broken mk II's, only to find out that they were mk2's which I won't touch. I understand that you won't touch mk2 modded amps (And I completely understand the "why"). HOWEVER, you were a GREAT help to ME, in getting my mk2 amps "out of the weeds" so to speak. Thank you for looking at my photos a while back, and offering your input. I feel much better about them now, having made the changes you outlined, THANK YOU!
  10. Nicccce...:-) that was a GREAT score!
  11. All of those don't exist in my sales database; they must be either second or in some cases third owners; I don't know which original owners to update my records with your contact info, so I'll just ignore that and hope they hold together and don't need service. If any of them do, just remind me that you are not the original owner, and you don't know who was I feel as though I have violated some (unbeknownst to me) protocol here, and if that is the case, I sincerely apologize. When I started acquiring these units, I contacted you via PM, and asked if you had record (serial numbers) of the units that you had upgraded. You responded that, if it had your sticker on the front, then it was your work. My 2 1.0ts bare your sticker. Before I purchased either, I requested, and received, photos of the font and the internals. The first one looks like a textbook example of your work, from everything that I've seen. The second one has one difference from all that I've seen: the legs on the 35C & 36C transistors have small copper wires soldered to them, to make the extension to fully contact the PCB pad, to which they are then soldered to. I did not notice this in the photos the seller sent me. Everything else in the amp looks exactly like the other photos of your work I've seen. My 500ts were not done by you - neither bare your sticker. I should have made this more clear in my prior response. The one from Kevin was done by someone by the name of Mike Marshall (IIRC - could be wrong there). The other was not specified, but in the photos I requested, it as the Sankens and different caps and piggy-backed power diodes. I would never expect you to perform service on my equipment without compensation, whether you did the original work or not. Again, I sincerely apologize if I violated protocol, or offended you in any way. Mark
  12. I have no record of you owning any mk II amplifier, and you weren't awarded the mk II medal; if this is in error, please contact me Sir, I purchased my first one on EBay on 02/06/2013, for $756. CARVER M1.0t MkII Opt. 2 ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! **NO RE... (181072013767) vintageaudio-n-stuff | 48 | 100.0% Sale date: 02/06/13 $756.24 + $42.00 shipping Sell this item View seller's other items More actions I got my second one from a seller in Dallas off Craigslist, for $700, about 2 months ago. I also have 2 of Kall's, that I have fixed the TIP 35 & 36 transistors, as well as adding the insulating duct tape barrier. (you were kind enough to help me through this process in this thread: http://thecarversite.com/yetanotherforum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=8541 I also own a 500t mkII that I purchased from Kevin (KVE777) about 4 months ago, and I have a second 500t mkII that I purchased from a Craigslist ad in the Seattle area (Tacoma). I am also about to embark on MY OWN (probably with a lot of help from Greg) 500t upgrade. And just to round things out, I just purchased a very nice 500t that Bill D re-capped 2 years ago, for $600. (though not a mkII, I couldn't resist a Bill D amp to go with my Bill D C1 that I purchased from Wayne (WRF) Sorry for any confusion... Mark
  13. Ron, Another fellow klipsch owner here:-) I was bi-amping mine with a pair of Rich's 1.0t mkIIs, and I LOVED the transparency and dynamics. However, I recently switched over to a pair of 500t mkIIs, and THAT combination is pure MAGIC!! The 500t seems a tidge softer on the highs, which is a great match for the horns. The only down side to running Klipsches with the mkII amps, is you'll NEVER utilize all that power:-)
  14. Nice score, Gene! Are they back-ups, or is there a home-build project on the horizon:-)
  15. Good question Steve. While the latest versions of DTS and Dolby are full discrete formats (Meaning that the mixers have the capability to send the entire frequency bandwidth to ALL channels), It is extremely rare for any mix to have substantial low frequency information in either the surround or back channels. That being said, there is no reason to invest the money into floor standing speakers for rear and surround use - that money would be much better spent elsewhere in your system. Also, many "surround" type speakers are designed for a much different dispersal pattern than traditional floor standing, or even bookshelf speakers. Good surrounds should "scatter" their sound across the walls, and gently fill the back and sides of the room. Polk makes fine surrounds, that will blend well with your other speakers, and save you some money. Plus, they are easier to work into your room decor!
  16. Apparently, he didn't "just slap this $hit together", either :-)
  17. Got my voteWell since it has both his name and the title of the album on the cover coupled with the fact that it is likely the largest selling album ever of any genre most people should be able to sort it out quickly REGARDS SNOW Using that criteria, I would have to consider as well:
  18. What do you think is the most recognizable album cover of all time?
  19. Just bought this AV705x to run my 4 surrounds in my HT setup, which will allow me to bi-amp the Kappas with my TFM 55x on the lows, and my TFM 35x on the highs Those things are SOOO power hungry, but the sound is oh so worth it! They even push my 1.0t mkII to the limit. It is nice when actual necessity allows OCCD to flourish without guilt http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carver-AV-705x-THX-Premiere-Power-Amplifier-5-channel-AMP-500-watts-Home-Theater-/261213780301?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item3cd18df94d
  20. Welcome aboard! You've been paying attention during your lurking - we usually have to ask for pictures, but you nailed it!! Very nice system - I've wanted to hear a set of OBs for some time.
  21. Nice score. The more I see of NEW hifi gear, the more I like OLD hifi gear:-) Keep us posted if you do something cool with them!
  22. Carver made basically two faceplate sizes: 17" like my older office system (M-200t, TX-2, C-2, DTL-50) and 19" like my son's system (M-1.0t, CT-Seven, DTL-200MKII) They also made 19" adapter plates for the older 17" components and bolt-on rack ears for the 17" M-500(t), TX-11, MXR-series receivers, etc. Gee Dom, it must be nice to have one of everything Carver, just in case you want to produce a made fo tv movie "The many works of Bob Carver - a pictorial journey..." Seriously, - great post. Taught me something I didn't know (Which in retrospect, isn't too difficult...)
  23. After a couple hours or research last night, I came to three (3) conclusions: 1. I can't believe I've never heard, or heard OF these. 2. I would very much like to listen to a set. 3. I have added them to my "targets of opportunity" list! Thanks for the interesting topic!
