Kurt 2,898 Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Gotta love Kim Deal on bass, and vocals, here. She showed up to audition for the Pixies as a bass player without even bringing a bass guitar with her because she had never played bass before. 1 2
AudioResurgence 71 Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 Any bass line played by Tal Wilkenfeld is the best bass line, especially when there's a video involved ❤️ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgffDVO2UyA 1
429CV23 54 Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Is it still a bass line if it's THE instrument? Charles Berthoud is an absolute beast. 2 1
429CV23 54 Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Alex Shturmak lays down some nice bass lines in this one; nice short solo as well. 1
Kurt 2,898 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Geddy Lee does some pretty solid bass playing... . Love the bass playing on several Rush songs... including this one. 2 1

Sk1Bum 11,401 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 The Rippingtons, Soul Riders from the Fountain of Youth album. Several songs on that album feature the bass player, but this on stands out for me. Now I just need to follow Ponce De La Kool Kat and find that fountain of youth. Dammit, why is youth wasted on the young? 1
Daddyjt 9,612 Posted May 19 Posted May 19 This track (Everything Must Go, by Steely Dan) is flat-out THE BEST sounding kick-drum I have ever heard on my system. I hate the intro (cacughanous combination of sax, drums, guitar), but at the :50 mark starts perhaps my current favorite SD song… 2 2

I have this album in multichannel and it sounds fantastic! I agree that the beginning is a bit rambunctious, but I think it is a common song formula - create tension with dissonance in one passage and then resolve it in the next. It makes the good part sound even better. I’ll have to crank this one up tonight, although wifey doesn’t dig SD at all. 2
Kurt 2,898 Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Vail Johnson is a master on bass. And the production quality on this recording is fantastic. Great song to test out your system for bass sound quality. 2
