Zoom 373 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Quote Guess what showed up today? Gene, if you haven't seen yet, in the liner notes Peart talks about the concert that makes this video. Apparently it was the last on the tour, and the band barely made it on time. They had transportation problems, and their gear was late. The sound check was minutes before the show. Listen to YYZ carefully. He refers to the crowd, one of the largest they had ever played for, nearly 50,000, and it was the first time he had ever heard anyone 'sing' YYZ. The crowd is NUTS at this show. Those emotional Brazilians.....
Gene C 1,748 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Just got done watching "12 Years As A Slave". Was a very good movie, based on a true story.
dazed_and_confused 194 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Right now is Liverpool vs Man City in the EPL. After which the TV goes off and the tunes go on..
Gene C 1,748 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 This was an awesome documentary! Going to watch it again this weekend, it was that good!
Daddyjt 9,805 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Its been out for a while, but it's a total kick-ass film. Outstanding action scenes, a great supporting cast, and an awesome soundtrack. I found myself totally attached to the main character after a mere 5 minutes,- a feat many movies can't accomplish in 2 hours... 1
dcl 3,283 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Grocery shopping at Trader Joe's this morning, Grateful Dead was being piped through the store. Not having any in my library, this is as close as I can get.
Chops 694 Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Yes... Yes, I am bringing this thread back from the dead. Why? Well, because we all watch movies at some point, and we listen to them through our Carver gear, so there it is. Good enough reason for me. Anyway, I watched two tonight. The first one... Then the second one... I thought both movies were great. I don't care what most people think, and I certainly don't care what any movie critic thinks. I like what I like and that's all that matters. I just had four solid hours of enjoyment as far as I'm concerned.
Daddyjt 9,805 Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Currently binge-watching Two and A Half Men. The first few seasons (with Charlie Sheen) are wildly funny. I think I find it especially humorous because I have little trouble believing that the show loosely mirrored Sheen’s real life exploits... 1
Sk1Bum 12,416 Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 In case anyone isn't aware, season 2 of Landman started today. Without posting any spoilers, if the season continues and builds at this level, it will be great. 1
Sk1Bum 12,416 Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 The Age of Disclosure. Interesting to say the least. "Here we go…again. Another documentary film about how disclosure of alien contact is imminent. It’s a claim I’ve been hearing for over three decades, albeit this one is of a higher quality than the dozens of similar such docs available on Amazon Prime (and hundreds more on YouTube)." https://www.skeptic.com/article/the-aliens-are-here-again-a-review-of-the-age-of-disclosure/ As a young boy, I was standing on a hillside looking at the stars with my grandfather. He said to me, "Do you think we're alone?" I said, "Grampa, I don't see anybody else." He laughed and said, "I mean out there. Do you think there's anybody else out there?" "I don't know. Do you?" He said, "You know, God's a pretty smart guy, and I don't think he would have wasted all that space if it's just us." Many years later, I heard Jody Foster's character, Ellie I think it was, say something very similar in the movie Contact.
Sk1Bum 12,416 Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 Foundation, I've been binge watching the 3 seasons. Foundation is based on the Isaac Asimov series of books. There are seven, and I've read them all except Prelude and Forward. They are Foundation, Foundation and Empire, Second Foundation, Foundation's Edge, Foundation and Earth, Prelude to Foundation, Forward the Foundation. I should go back and read them again, as it's been 30 years. Man has colonized the whole galaxy, and Hari Seldon invents psychohistory, a type of mathematics that can predict the future of very large groups of people. The math predicts a coming dark age where the empire crumbles, and the dark age lasts 1000 years. Psychohistory also shows how to shorten the dark age to 300-500 years. It's been so long since I've read the books, that I can't comment on how well the series follows the books. Season 4 has been greenlit, and it will start shooting next year. 1
