  1. I have the M4.0t that @Nahash5150 restored and upgraded for me hooked up to them now with the CT7 from @itchitchand this set up is by far my best choice. I just received the Optical/RCA module today and set everything up. Going to be an exciting Saturday. I know these Polk's cant handle the full power but I am sure it will sound great and after a year of exercising the MKll I am very confident in the sound quality that is in store for this evening. Restored amp and speakers. Great combo.

  2. I usually have them 12-18 inches from back wall, Polk suggests no toe in, keeping the fronts square to the wall! not sure if the dampening inside affects the soundstage, I have dynamat on all the 6.5” drivers, I have Black hole acoustic dampening behind the woofers and tweeters! you are going to love these, experiment on distance from the wall! barry

  3. That's excellent, @Rob One thing I found with my Polk SDAs, is that they sound best backed up against a wall with a little breathing room on the left and right for reflections. I tried them in a number of arrangements in my 22x24 foot room, and when pulled away from the back wall, they sounded bad (to my ears). You are going to love these. !

  5. Altered Five Blues Band, Holler If You Hear Me was released on September 3, 2021. "Milwaukee’s outrageously cool Altered Five Blues Band gets one step closer to world domination with the release of their new platter Holler If You Hear Me. Set to break out September 3rd, 2021 on Blind Pig Records, the album was made over the span of only five days in Nashville, Tennessee with three-time Grammy-winning producer Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy) at the helm. Hambridge produced the band’s earlier chart-topping album Ten Thousand Watts and has developed a musically successful relationship and workflow with the members of Altered Five that seems to level up every time they all get together. Holler If You Hear Me is an absolutely stomping good time and proves once again that Altered Five Blues Band rates among the top roots music acts in the business. The group is tight, fully seasoned, and capable of writing songs that stand tall and sound fresh, which is exactly what they do on this, their sixth album." 7. Is there any discussion of a DIY project for this year's Carver Fest? If anyone has an interest, I was thinking about a Class D monoblock amp project using Hypex NCore NC500 (500w/ch into 4 ohms, 370w/ch into 8 ohms) or Hypex NC250 (250w/ch into 4 ohms, 130w/ch into 8 ohms) modules. Amps using those modules have received good reviews and I have one that I think sounds good. They are more detailed (less tubey sounding) compared to Carver solid state transfer mod amps. These modules have power transformers built in and that somewhat simplifies the build. Hypex offers a kit using a slightly different module (500w/ch iinto 4 ohms) for 600 euros per channel. I think we could do it for around $400-$500/channel with enough participation. The cases would be of Chinese manufacture to keep costs down. These Hypex modules prefer XLR inputs, btw. (Hypex is raising prices at the end of June, so we could save some on that part if enough people commit to do this.) It's just an idea though. I'm not trying to push anyone into this at all.
