C-4000 vs C-1 with Bill D ModSk1Bum replied to submariner's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first) Hello submariner, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. I have a 4000t and a C-1 that have both been serviced and upgraded. The 4000t is a later iteration of the C-4000, and my C-1 has the BillD modification. I love them both. Placing either of them in my main 2 channel rig is the right choice. The 4000t is paired with a M500t mkII, and the result is phenomenal. The BillD c-1 is paired with a M1.0t and the result is phenomenal. Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading some pics of your gear in the Members Systems area. We all like pics of all kinds of audio gear. In the meantime, kick your shoes off, turn up the music, and welcome aboard.

Hi Tater, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. We have a Trading Post, but you won't be able to access it until you've reached Novice status. Once you get to Novice status, please consider starting a thread for each item you want to sell and upload some pics of your item. Where in Montana are you located? Untested items can be a hard sell unless the item is rare and highly coveted. In the meantime, kick your shoes off, turn up the music, and welcome aboard.

From the Admin [old version]Sk1Bum replied to Nahash5150's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first) Probably, but most members have the self discipline to police themselves. Just try to keep it on topic, and then the comment isn't useless.

The Pretty Reckless, Death By Rock And Roll will be released tomorrow, February 12, 2021. "Claiming authenticity is hard when you’ve spent your career imitating rock legends, but The Pretty Reckless are one of the few hard rock revival acts that have actually ridden debauchery into a downward spiral. Death By Rock And Roll details how the passing of their long-term producer Kato Khandwala and tourmate Chris Cornell left the band immeasurably scarred."

Hello TJActual, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. The TFM amps are highly regarded here, and a recap certainly wouldn't hurt. I've owned 4 different models of Carver amps, all of the M series. My personal favorite for music is the M-500t mkII. Your C1 is also a great preamp, and with the BillD mod, it becomes exceptional. The BillD mod puts the C1 on a level playing field with preamps that cost several times more. It's all about how it sounds to you. I've said several times on this forum that if two tin cans and a string sound good to you, then you're thousands of dollars ahead of me.

Hello Blueprintt, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. I think you will fit right in here. We have quite a few members who've owned Carver, Phase Linear, & Sunfire gear for a long time. I bought my first Carver amp, an M-400t, in 1983 or 84. I've owned many different amps, 3 different preamps, 4 different tuners, and a pair of butchered Platinums. Melody Gardot, Sunset In The Blue was released on October 23, 2020. "This is Gardot reunited with producer Larry Klein and arranger Vince Mendoza returning to the lustrously upholstered ballad style first heard on My One and Only Thrill in 2009. The voice is close-miked, a mix of the sensual and vulnerable, channelling the ghost of Julie London; echoes too of Diana Krall’s The Look of Love – a photogenic jazz maiden making sweet music designed to be heard far beyond the jazz basements." United Progressive Fraternity, Planetary Overlord Part 1 was released on April 19, 2019 "I can't remember a collective of 54 musicians and scientists collaborating on an album and speaking out loud their worries about environment, climate change and humanitarian issues before. United Progressive Fraternity is the first “band” in the world to do so, I believe. But “band” isn't the correct description. Once UPF was a band, but when you look closer to this album, you must conclude that when you invite 54 people to work on the album, I think it is legitimate to speak of a project. The album Planetary Overload will contain two parts. Part 1 is called Loss and has been released in the beginning of 2019. Part 2 will be released later this year." You can read the rest of the review here... I think the prog-rock fans will enjoy this album a great deal. I think folks that place a high emphasis on environmental, climate, and humanitarian concerns will enjoy the album too.

Want C 16 or C 19 Preamp - FoundSk1Bum replied to David brinkmeyer's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first) Hello David, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. Here's a link to a C19 on ebay, but it has a discolored faceplate: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CARVER-C19-PREAMPLIFIER/293981298952 The C19 comes up occasionally, but not often. I don't follow C16s, so I can't be of any help there. Maybe someone else will have a lead on one of them or a prettier C19. 60 Miles, Red Light was released on December 15, 2020. "RED LIGHT is the reflection of a period, a time of disillusioned globalization. It is a critical situation where the multiple alarm signals should push us all to change things. 60 Miles echoes these concerns. Not through "engaged" music in the political sense, but simply by evoking the pulse of this society. 60 Miles cannot do other but feel the vibration of its time and share it through its tools, namely the poetry of sounds and the power of the imagination. In a period when all the usual processes are unsure, where the place of music is particularly put into question and the existence of many artists seems threatened, 60 Miles are releasing against all odds their new album: RED LIGHT. Like an alarm signal that resonates from the intimate to the other side of the planet." You can read the rest of the review here... While I certainly don't share their world view, politics, or philosophy, this is a very talented piano led trio. I enjoyed this album a great deal. Sk1.

Four Tet released two albums, 0000 871 0001· 00110100 01010100 and Parallel on December 24, 2020. Four Tet truly lets his listeners into his mind and psyche with ‘Parallel’, making us feel what he feels and perceive the world through his eyes. The LP starts right off with an extended 27-minute-long piece, almost like an LP inside an LP, stimulating our ears with celestial sounds, mimicking the softness of rain drops. It is followed by 9 other unmistakable Four Tet songs: soothing ambient mixed with house music, invigorating but also smooth electronic percussions, beautifully composed synth melodies, creating an out-of-this-world experience while listening to the whole piece. The last two songs puts us in a meditative state with nature sounds accompanied by subtle piano music. He released his other album, ‘871’ as 00110100 01010100, meaning ‘4T’ in binary code. It is the first under this moniker since his 2013 album, ‘0181‘ and it features material produced between August 1995 and January 1997. Although the meaning behind the title remains a mystery, it does imply that the 20-track LP is going to be unconventional. ‘871’ is a thrilling mixture of experimental and psychedelic tunes and sentimental sounds, showing his ability to create an abstract and yet coherent art work. Four Tet put together guitar melodies, tinkling high-pitched instruments, lo-fi electronica, emotional piano tunes and futuristic synth waves to leave the listener in an ethereal space." Semblant, Obscurra was released on March 6, 2020. "A rapidly rising act in the South American metal scene, Semblant are more than ready to take the world stage. The band have already received international praise from the metal community with the 2014 release of their second album ‘Lunar Manifesto’, the singles from which (‘What Lies Ahead’, ‘Dark Of the Day’ and ‘Incinerate’) have racked up over 30 million views on YouTube. They are now ready for the next phase of their career with the upcoming release of their highly anticipated new album, ‘Obscura’." You can read the rest of the review here... While I'm not a fan of much death metal, Mizuho Lin's voice is incredible. A link to Lin singing "Let It Go" from Frozen is below the Semblant link.
