  1. Hi Dan. One of the strong, silent types, eh? Welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading some pics of your gear in the Members Systems area. We all like pics of all kinds of audio gear. In the meantime, kick your shoes off, turn up the music, and welcome aboard.
  2. Black Stone Cherry, The Human Condition was released on October 30, 2020. "Black Stone Cherry raises the roof and blows out the windows on its new album The Human Condition. Set to break free October 30th, 2020 on Mascot Records, the record focuses on a beefy modern rock sensibility that hits like a gut punch and proves the group hasn’t lost any of the snarl and ferocity that brought it to life almost 20 years ago. The collection will be available on red transparent vinyl, a limited- edition CD box set, and digitally."
  3. Elvis Costello with Burt Bacharach, Painted from Memory
  4. Jason Miles//Kind of New, Black Magic was released on March 6, 2020. "Like his first album under the Kind of New moniker, a 2015 collaboration with trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, Jason Miles’ Black Magic is all about steep, deep jazz-funk groove-making, catchy melodies, and no-holds-barred solo romps, with more than a few nods to the brand of ’70s electric jams associated with the pianist/keyboardist’s onetime employer, Miles Davis. Unlike the earlier disc, the new one is more of a band effort, featuring a group he recently led on a tour of Europe: saxophonist Jay Rodriguez, trumpeter Philip Dizack, bassist Reggie Washington, and drummer Gene Lake." 5. Michael Van Merwyk, The Bear was released on May 8, 2020. "On his new CD “The Bear“ he is back to the Blues with stories about life’s ups and downs and in-betweens. No matter if MvM plays on his own with his beloved old Dobro or if he’s backed by a small band including the great Christian Dozzler on piano & harmonica, Micha Maas on drums and Tobi Fleischer on bass, there ́s always a relaxed but powerful energy in the music." 6. Anthony Kalugin, Marshmallow Moondust was released on October 10, 2020. "With 2020 being a bad year for so many people because of COVID-19, the virus itself, and the lockdowns that followed, we all need something to remedy the hardships endured by so many. And here comes a new CD with music that is a real breath of fresh air!" For you progressive rock fans, this is a good selection. I think it makes great background music for household chores, reading, or just perusing C! looking for someone to mess with. This one gets an 8.5 on the Sk1Bum 10 point scale. You can read the rest of the (professional) review here...
  7. Dirty Streets, Rough and Tumble was released on July 31, 2020. "Whereas most outfits would love to emerge from the studio with a final mix as precise and vibrant as Rough and Tumble, Dirty Streets manage to accomplish the feat live from the stage. It might take listeners a few spins to discern that this isn’t a studio set." You can read the rest of the review here...
  8. I just got off the phone with Music Direct. All of this list and Elvis Presley, From Elvis In Memphis are available for pre-order. The price is still $125/copy.
  9. Katalyst, Nine Lives was released on September 25, 2020. "Nine Lives grips with the energy of infinite possibility and digs in with a drive that sets it apart – a forward propulsion that reflects the very movement of the Los Angeles jazz scene itself. Conceived solely on an improv basis, the album represents a highlight reel of two months of Sunday jam sessions that Katalyst spent together at their home base in Inglewood, California." You can read the rest of the review here...
  10. Konstantin Klashtorni, 7 x 7 was released on February 14, 2020. "Konstantin has a new album out for 2020. It is called 7 x 7 and true to form, this effort showcases his smooth sax stylings. His record label describes him as the "master of chill and king of cool," and we would have to totally agree with that assessment." You can read the rest of the review here...
  11. Robin Trower, Maxi Priest, Livingstone Brown, United State of Mind was released on October 9, 2020. "Three legendary artists singer/songwriter Maxi Priest, guitarist Robin Trower, and producer/mix engineer and musician Livingstone Brown release their new single “United State of Mind” from their upcoming album, ‘United State of Mind’ out October 9, 2020 on Manhaton Records. After a chance meeting in Livingstone’s studio in Brixton, UK, this unlikely trio hit it off. All directly influenced by soul and gospel, they have a deep appreciation for music and share a passion for all genres." This is nothing like I've heard from Robin Trower before. It's his signature guitar sound, but it's funky, soulful, and playful at times. I really enjoy this album, and it gets a 9 on the Sk1Bum 10 point scale. I hope you like it too. 12. Anthony Gomes, Containment Blues was released on October 16, 2020. "Blues fans will welcome the imminent arrival of the new Anthony Gomes album Containment Blues, officially released this October 16th on Up 2 Zero Records, a follow-up to Peace, Love & Loud Guitars (2018.) Toronto-native Anthony Gomes is a blues/rock sing-songwriter and guitarist whose passion for the genre is self-evident. During his illustrious career he has performed alongside a cast of greats including Buddy Guy, Robert Plant and Joe Bonamassa, garnering a host of accolades along the way. As a musician, Gomes is dedicated to a form of living, breathing blues. “The Blues is old,” he says, “but not tired,” echoing a memorable piece of wisdom given to him by no less than B.B. King, “The Blues are like the laws of the land. They need to be amended to the times we live in.” You can read the rest of the review here...

  16. Hello Kevin, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. Personally, I recommend either a C-1, C-11, or 4000t for your M1.0t. I have all 3, and all 3 are outstanding. The C-1 and 4000t have been restored and upgraded. The C-11 will be someday... There are almost always C-1s on ebay, and there are a couple of 4000ts on ebay now. The 4000ts don't come up near as often as the C-1s. 17. Simon Collins (the son of Phil Collins) Becoming Human was released on September 4, 2020. "Becoming Human finds Collins comfortably returning to the sound of Dimensionaut, with even more focus on strong hooks and memorable melodies. This is immediately evident in the album’s title track and first single. Electronic sounds build the soundscape underneath Collin’s raw vocals right before the chorus kicks with subtle guitars and drums." You can read the rest of the review here...
  18. Hello rcdarcy, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. While I can't say about how Carver amps will pair with the Soundstream C-1, I can say that an M500t paired with a Carver C-1 or a Carver 4000t is incredible. So is the M1.0t. To these old ears, the M500t is slightly warmer, more musical, and the M1.0t is more powerful, has more slam. I suppose it depends on what you're looking for in an amp. I prefer the M500t's for music, and the M1.0t's for my home theater. My ears, my mileage, and of course, your mileage may vary. 20. Pride Of Lions, Lion Heart was released on October 9, 2020. "Pride Of Lions, the revered melodic rock band featuring the legendary "Eye Of The Tiger" songwriter and The Ides Of March member Jim Peterik together with powerhouse vocalist Toby Hitchcock, is back with a fabulous sixth studio album, "Lion Heart"." 23. A post on theartofsound.com says 10x cartridge resistance is the usual starting point. Denon-103 is 40 ohms, so 400 would be the starting point. The original poster in that thread said his came to life at 1K ohms. https://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?62918-Denon-DL-103-impedance-load Though there is a bit of disagreement in the thread.
  24. Sorry you missed out Brian. My double in price at sellout seems to be a bit conservative. Already listed at $187.50C and up. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=bob+dylan+desire+(super%2C+mfsl)&_sacat=176985&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=176985&_odkw=bob+dylan+desire+(super%2C+mfsl%2C+45)
  25. This pressing is now sold out, and my order was reduced to 1 copy. I overlooked the 1 copy limit. I should have ordered one per email address.
