New to the Forum - New to Carver (and Polk)
Sk1Bum replied to Mike-777's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
Hello Mike, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. Congratulations on the new gear. Be forewarned, that Carver gear has a tendency to multiply like rabbits at the expense of your bank account, available credit... Please consider uploading some pics of your gear in the Members Systems area. We all like pics of all kinds of audio gear. In the meantime, kick your shoes off, turn up the music, and welcome aboard. -
@TFM35X , if you would like one of the Staff to move the post for you, please post a link to the post.

Question about a brand of speakers mentioned here at one time
Sk1Bum replied to fxbill's topic in Loudspeakers
I remember seeing that thread, but I don't recall the brand. It may have been Salk: http://www.salksound.com/gallery.php I don't think it was Daedalus https://www.daedalusaudio.com/ Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe the original poster will see this thread. -
You should be good to go.

Hello KoolKat, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. @dennismiller55 can add a remote, @loner_t has a remote modded C-1 for sale, and there are several other techs on site that can hook you up. The remote mod isn't cheap, but in my (lazy-a$$ed) opinion, worth every penny. The BillD mod is worth every penny too. Please consider uploading some pics of your gear in the Members Systems area. We all like pics of all kinds of audio gear. In the meantime, kick your shoes off, turn up the music, and welcome aboard. John, you know full well there is no cure for OCCD. You can only treat the symptoms. It's almost like it's a designer virus engineered by the US healthcare industry.

Well Bobby, that whole forum was in the wrong area. It shouldn't have been in the Residents area. When I moved it,,, well let's just say the pooch is pregnant. A trouble ticket has been filed. Hopefully we'll get this back where it's viewable to all.

Those articles are posted in an area of the forum that is only available to Residents.

So you're the one driving up the prices.. OK, maybe you had help.

I bought all of mine used, have had all of them for over a year with no problems. oppo is still servicing and supporting them. I gave under $400 each for the 103s, and about $550 for the 105. If you're looking for just a DAC, check out the first link I posted to Schiit Audio. They make good products.

You're looking for some Good Schiit there. I use oppo blue ray players to do just what you describe. I have a 103 Darbee, 103, and a 105D. They're all capable of streaming from online sources and from my LAN storage via wifi and cat5. They play CD/SACD/DVD/DVD audio, BluRay, flac, mp*, and several other file formats. Both models have several digital inputs including HDMI, optical, digital coax, USB, and analog rca inputs and outputs. The 105 has balanced and rca outs. The 103s have rca outs only. Sadly, oppo has left the transport business, and the prices have almost doubled for the used players in the last few months. Even with the price increases, I can't recommend them highly enough. The newer 203 & 205 models have some improvements over the 103 & 105s, but those models have all nearly doubled in price in the last year. I've seen the still new in box 205s sell at triple the $1300 that they sold for when the last run was done in summer 2018. They're regularly listed at $3K+ on ebay. 205: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_PrefLoc=1&_nkw=oppo+udp-205&_sop=10 203: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_PrefLoc=1&_nkw=oppo+udp-203&_sop=10 105: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_PrefLoc=1&_sacat=293&_nkw=oppo%2Bbdp-105&_sop=10 103: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_PrefLoc=1&_sacat=293&_nkw=oppo%2Bbdp-103&_sop=10

I just landed in the Carver patch...
Sk1Bum replied to Butcher's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
Hello Butcher, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. That's quite a collection and a great jumping on point. I've owned eight M400ts over the years, bought, sold, gave each of my daughters one, and I still have a couple. They're a fine amp, and the output is surprising given the size. My personal favorites are the M500t and the M1.0t. There are several outstanding techs here that can refresh your amps, guide you through the refresh if you want to DIY, supercharge those amps with mods that will improve them several times over, or guide you through the mods if you want to DIY. We all like pics of all kinds of audio gear, so please consider uploading some pics of your gear once you get permissions. Start a new thread in the Members Systems area and post the pics there. In the meantime, kick your shoes off, turn up the music, and welcome aboard. -
This is a local jazz/blues low power FM radio station that is commercial free except for station identifiers. They are supported by donations. I'm lucky enough to live close enough they bottom out the meter on the TX-11a. This sounds very good through the GBD Project tube buffer. Eric Gales, The Bookends was released on Feb 8, 2019. "There are certain albums, as well as the artists who create them, that are so outstanding musically, you can’t help but jump up and down when you hear them. The Bookends by Eric Gales, out February 8, via Provogue/Mascot Label Group and produced by Matt Wallace, is one such album." You can read the rest of the review here.

Bill Frisell, Harmony, released Oct 4, 2019. "Getting your hands on a new Bill Frisell CD is a bit like unboxing a gift from a good friend with great taste. So what do we have here? Something intriguing, as it turns out, yet again..." You can read the full review here.

Delbert McClinton describes his latest album Tall, Dark & Handsome, out July 26th, as “kind of a salute to Texas blues, the music I grew up on.” With respect to the always-succinct McClinton, it’s much more than that. As with his 2017 effort Prick of the Litter, the singer/songwriter/harmonica wizard shifts deftly between styles, smoothly segueing from straight-up blues to swing, country and jazz with the confidence of a master. It’s not a stretch to say that McClinton, at age 78, is making the best music of his career. You can read the rest of the Rolling Stone article here.
