  2. We saw that Jef Beck tour in D.C.@ the 9:30 Club, it was superb–great to see Monsieur Beck with a dueling guitar partner, Jennifer Batten, on-stage. Live in Japan is not available other than vinyl so good for you. Meanwhile...
  3. "Somewhere In America There's Street Named After My Dad"...
  4. Loan Me A Dime on the Duane Allman anthology or on the original Boz Scaggs recording is an all-time fave of mine, as well. Meanewhile ...
  5. Not often referred to as such, this stuff is really funky with the horns & all. One band I wish to have seen: exceptional story telling married to memorable, danceable melodies, on-your-feet-all-nght emotion.
  6. Way to funnel it down, Gene. Answer: My current set-up, Sunfire CRM-2s & SubRosa. Even with ALS Silver MK IV & Polk SDA SRS 1.2t in reserve I have never looked back, the current system "fits" the space. And for that I am appreciative. My wife could care less what is in place as long as she appreciates the sound, she digs them all but favors the latest.
  7. Listening to the NanoPod with songs on Shuffle whilst commuting, Hot 'Lanta queues up first. The fiery playing never fails to put spring in my step, a smile from ear bud to ear bud. Now home, queueing Hot 'Lanta again.
  8. The ECM label wafts out on a wintery predawn Sunday morning & is first out of the gate for the new thread. The cats having had Sunday dope (catnip) have stretched out to preen whilst Ralph Towner sets the mood.
  9. This is tangential & hopefully not construed as a hijack but there are others amongst us in audio land that appreciate the 901s (link) despite the smart aleck rhyming myth.
  10. The 901 IV were a big leap for me when I bought them new, traded in a pair of 501s in the deal & added the Spatial Control Receiver, model 550 I think. The cone surrounds need reforming, they have not been played for a very long time but I bet I would enjoy them as much now as back then. Do not have the Bose receiver nowadays so would have to look for an EQ. The 901s with Spatial Control Receiver is a stylish combination. Enjoy the project!
  11. In boxes labeled "4 for $1" outside a new vinyl store yesterday. There was a Fall Arts & Crafts Festival on the street outside, inside were two comfy overstuffed armchairs, each with an accompanying side table offering a Technics TT (sorry, didn't get the model) plus headphones for listening. Boots with Strings, Boots Randolph (1966); All Aglow Again (with Fever), Peggy Lee (1960); Chris In Person, Chris Connor recorded live at The Village Vanguard (1959); Lush Life, Nancy Wilson (1967). Still no TT, friends, but the albums add to existing albums as decor until a TT joins the system.

    New Vinyl Releases

Headin' to the Pink Floyd store now, merci beaucoup, messieurs.
  14. Always enjoy your posts, DaddyT. Way to go!
  15. We like all kinds of beer & gear here, Ben, although OCCD may steal away from the beer budget. I like the CT-Seven just fine, quite a bit actually, it's an original owner purchase. Couldn't pass up a C-3 at a going out of business sale. Recently a C1BillD came by way of GeneC's closet sale. I think of mods/upgrades as investments in future longevity & health, both of the system and the listener. Enjoy the music!

    Maggies??

You might contact SteveFord regarding Maggies. I recall his very nice setup in Featured Systems.
  17. No TT here so I spin the CD. This is fiendish!
  18. Welcome onboard! The site is also a great resource for finding the gear you desire (and gear you don't yet realize you will desire).

    Neurochemistry of Music

While off in the weeds I found another iPod beta model with a four way crossover for separate skull transducers. Guess even when contemplating, dopamine, opiods, cortisol, serotonin, oxytocin, etc., we cannot resist any semblances to wires & cables .
