  1. With pictures I might be able to tell. We sold some Pioneer in the sixties and if I see them it might jog my memory.
  2. I have owned both but they were separated by about 10 years so this is from memory. For me, the ALs had more natural timbre when playing woodwinds and strings. The polks were more open and dynamic. While I would choose the AL's, I think for what you listen to the Polks would be better suited. If you could here them side by side in your room that would make things easier. You might also consider Infinity Kappa 9s which while I haven't had a chance to play with yet come very highly recommended.
  3. Welcome back... This is the home of the enablers and they will have buying new toys in no time.
  4. Welcome! This is a nice place to hang out. Hope you enjoy yourself.
  5. Condition on eBay probably doesn't mean much. Most people really don't know the difference. Any time you purchase 2 or more try to haggle. Pricing is usually based on single purchases. Record local/online stores know what stuff is worth so are best for titles you don't think you will find elsewhere. The best scores I've found come from estate sales. Goodwill, SA, etc. gets good stuff almost daily. It is picked through by the end of the day. Like electronics, the more often you stop and look, the more likely you are to find something you like. Clean vinyl and clean sleeves are not necessarily together, but paying $1 each for 2 to make a good set is cheaper than $10 for both clean in a single purchase. If you offer $5-$10 for a whole box of records at a yard sale you will probably go home with them.

    It's Here !!!

It is not unusual for older CD players to be finicky and have a difficult time play certain brands of burnt CD's. I don't recall there being any real pattern, but I had a lot of customers who had to buy a certain brand of blanks because it is what their machine seemed to like.
  7. I have a pair of Lafayette Coaxial drivers from the mid 1960's that have sheep skin surrounds. Sounds like mink oil might be just the ticket for those.
