  2. Welcome to the Site, Tillerman. I did a little digging around but couldn't find any nudies of the TX1-11. Perhaps you could upload something? It's not a terribly common processor but it seems you're using it just as intended. Most around here who use FM do so with the popular TX-11a although several other models are also used that have internal TX1-11 functions. What kind of FM antenna are you using?
  3. Christian Alsing. You just gotta hear this!
  4. Only a true Carver nerd would think I mated with my system.
  5. Finally I have acquired the first Freak Kitchen album.
  6. This is an excellent point and one well worth considering, and if we do then source material becomes even more important. When I first mated my main system almost the very first thing I noticed was how utterly revealing it was on poor source material. Imagine the scene: Carver tube amps driving ALS hybrids with a Sunfire tube pre and Oppo BDP-93. I expected sonic bliss at every turn only to face the reality that poorer recordings became even more disappointing. I had attained a 'warts and all' system without such intentions. I don't discount the possibility of poor synergy between your MkII and speakers but there are too many other factors that might also point to the underlying cause of your discontent with your setup. If you haven't done so, spend time with different sources and source material. The Carver Site Reference Discs are an excellent starting point for evaluation.
  7. ....and no accounting for taste.
  8. ........and SteveFord
  9. We don't have the service manual for this model in the library presently. However this might help. Alternatively this manual appears to be available for purchase here.
  10. Ah, a new member from the land down underer. Welcome.
  11. Rolling Stone apparently thinks vinyl is a "fad."
  12. Witness. Now I just need one of my three to take an interest.
  13. No Sovteks. Came with Telefunkens and Chinese KT88 power tubes.
  14. I'm still running the tubes Bob put in for over 7 years now. No complaints and no desire to go fishing for a 1% upgrade.
  15. massastan has designed the next lunar module
  16. The biggest issue I see based on the diagram is the open space to the right with a closed space to the left. No amount of bass traps or other absorption will fix such an inherent imbalance so imaging and soundstage will always suffer. Basically there's no room to breathe on the left and too much on the right. Bass traps shouldn't be needed at all because so much bass energy can escape already. The room probably never gets loaded. The next glaring issue is the narrow nature of the room, so narrow that proper placement for the Amazings cannot be achieved. I don't see a good alternative arrangement either. Perhaps I got lucky with the room shape I had. The soundstage was absolutely enthralling with my Amazings.
  17. 1 square = 1 foot Damn, Martin! I thought I'd offer a few pointers on how to set up your Amazings by drawing from my own experience with mine, but....... That room shape truly sucks. No surprise you can't get good imaging in there but brother I can assure you the problem is not the Amazings!
  18. Hi Weitrhino. Just curious, factory passive crossovers in place? Yes.
  19. Martin, is there any way you can post a diagram of your room showing speaker placement, listening position, and any other major elements in the room? That you've had trouble getting them to sound, well, amazing in your room is very curious to me as I had mine in a very similarly sized room and they sounded glorious. I'd truly like to get a better sense of your layout.
  20. It would be helpful if you put up some specs on the MLs. I have a UR-I and it handled my Amazings pretty well back when I was doing that. The UR is basically a TGP-III and a Cinema Grand rolled into a single chassis.
