  1. Sounds like he's exactly the type of person you want working on your gear.
  2. Normally I would hook up an EQ through a tape monitor or processor loop. Does your Denon have one?
  3. Way to go Joe. ENJOY THE MUSIC!
  4. Hard to compete with DSOTM but how 'bout this one?
  5. Howdy kcetp. Glad you decided to come out of the closet and join us. Thanks for the photos too. That's a real interesting collection of gear you have. I use a Behringer CX3400 3-way stereo crossover to tri-amp using 3 M-500(t)'s and an M-1.0t. (I have a DEQ2496 like yours in my PA system rack but prefer the analog XO in my home system.) I start by using a spectrum analyser and a 1/3 octave EQ to minimize room effects like standing waves. Then I tweak the flat but usually thin sounding room curve by ear using recordings that I am very familiar with. Finally, I again use my ears to balance the levels of the three frequency bands. I can have a listenable system within a few hours but continue to tweak for days, weeks, even months.
  6. That little guy pales in comparison to the Was 3000 which is almost 60' long and can reach 165dB.
  7. Howdy Resident and welcome to the forum. Glad you hopped on board the Carver train. How did you come by your Carver gear? What type(s) of music do you listen to?
  8. They are either very small, or very well camoflaged. (I think you forgot to insert them.....)
  9. I suppose you could have special ordered a 17" faceplate from the factory but I'm pretty sure this one is "home made". My reasoning is that the corners on your M-1.5t are about half the radius that Carver normally used. To illustrate I pasted the suspect M-1.5t corner next to your stock C-1 corner with the 0o and 90o marks lined up. I was careful to maintain scale on both photos
  10. Carver made basically two faceplate sizes: 17" like my older office system (M-200t, TX-2, C-2, DTL-50) and 19" like my son's system (M-1.0t, CT-Seven, DTL-200MKII) They also made 19" adapter plates for the older 17" components and bolt-on rack ears for the 17" M-500(t), TX-11, MXR-series receivers, etc.
  11. I'm not a fan of that sort of mod, but at least the guy did a professional job.
  12. Bass response and sound stage may be affected by the age of the crossover caps. A refresh may be all those speakers need to really shine!
  13. Are my eyes deceiving me, or did someone modify the faceplate on your M-1.5t? It should be the same width as the C-1 (19") but appears to be about an inch shorter.
  14. Howdy bored184 and welcome to the forum. What Carver goodies did you pick up? WE LOVE PHOTOS!
  15. Nice score Mark. I've had a sweet spot for Infinity speakers since the late 70's.
  16. Glad you got it figured out. ENJOY THE MUSIC!
  17. Thanks Dennis. I don't purchase much music these days, but Seesaw just made the top of my wish list!
  18. Your B&O MMC3 cartridge is the "grandson" (3rd generation) of my B&O MMC20EN. The suggested 1.2 gram tracking force is actually a MINIMUM. I run mine at ~1.5 grams.
  19. What does your turntable sit on now? (A photo would help. ) What is your effective tracking force? What happens to the rumble when you increase the tracking force 1/4 gram? 1/2 gram? Try placing a few large books or a stack of newspapers on top of the dust cover. Does that make the rumble better or worse?
  20. Exactly what volume-related problem(s) are you experiencing? (i.e. rumble, feedback, skipping, acoustic coupling, etc.)
  21. If necessary a heavy slab of dense material like granite or marble makes a great base for a turntable. Here's an example of a turntable base built by one of our members. (He built the acrylic leveler too.)
  22. I've never had any issues with my Technics SL-1200 MK1 but it's an old beast that weighs almost 30 pounds. Due to speaker proximity I set the tracking force to the high end of the B&O MMC20EN's range (~1.6 grams).
  23. You are in good hands with Greg and Wayne. Both know Carver inside and out and do excellent work. Your CD player will probably need new tray and sled drive belts but replacement is pretty easy. I posted a how to for the DTL-series player that should be helpful HERE. We don't have your belt spec listed in our database but there's a primer for measuring belts HERE. (Once you know the dimensions please post them so I can update the CD player belt size chart.)
