  1. Legacy has always had top notch products and tech service going back to when they were Real-To-Reel Designs. In those days (early 80's) it wasn't unusual for the president/chief engineer (Bill Duddleston) to answer the phone. In fact when they built my custom satellites and subs (87/88) Bill drove them up from Springfield and set them up. In 2010 when I called to discuss upgrades to the satellites, Bill remembered me and had the specifications at hand. He even sent me a copy of his hand-written notes for the new bi-ampable crossovers.
  2. I believe they are both driven (each speaker has about 20 lbs of magnet) but they aren't listed in my 1986 or 2001 catalogs.
  3. Nice save Paul! The now discontinued Deep Impact had an MSRP of $1,500. Here's a link to the original owner's manual ==> Legacy Deep Impact Subwoofer
  4. Howdy Kmh3212 and welcome to the forum. Nice to have you on board. Hope you stick around a while. Thanks for not making us beg for photos. I like your "casually arranged piles of vintage gear" philosophy!
  5. Sounds like a list of the MOST POPULAR drummers (as opposed the best, most talented, most influencial, etc). What about Art Blakey, Buddy Miles and Max Roach of the jazz era? They created styles and influenced generations of drummers that followed. More of my favorites percussion "artists" that didn't make your list: Joey Baron Carter Beauford Hal Blaine Terry Bozzio Bill Bruford Danny Carey Jack DeJohnette Vince Ditrich Mick Fleetwood Steve Gadd Evelyn Glennie Benny Greb Omar Hakim Levon Helm Thomas Lang Jojo Mayer Buddy Miles Marco Minnemann Jeff Porcaro Pip Pyle Lars Ulrich Ruth Underwood Chad Wackerman Dave Weckl Tatsuya Yoshida Tony WIlliams
  6. Glad you managed to reshape the polydomes Mark. Time to hear them sing! BTW: If you ever need to reshape a poly dome in the future fill it with water before you heat it. The water acts as a heat sink so you don't melt the poly and it helps to distribute the heat evenly.
  7. Howdy Chris, and welcome to the forum. Nice to have you onboard. Hope you stick around for a while. Please don't make us beg you for system photos!
  8. Nice work Bryan It's Miller time
  9. Apparently it's an active subwoofer with a small (50W) amp and an adjustable low pass. It does NOT have line level outputs or a high pass so he'll need a passive XO for his mains.
  10. Headroom is desirable for many reasons, an important one being that transients can draw x10 average power. If your amp can't deliver, the result is a briefly clipped output that becomes more audible as duration increases.
  11. Howdy Comanche and welcome to the forum. What is your connection to Carver?
  12. Most powered subs include an adjustable high pass crossover for your mains.
  13. I have a similar issue in my home office. Moving the speakers to the wall behind me made a big improvement.
  14. Instructions are printed on the Geo-Disc, and it's not rocket science, but here's a video showing how to use it:
  15. That is correct. You can read B-Man's how to manual here ==> C-1 Remote Control Modification
  16. A used C-1 is an excellent sonic holography preamp for a reasonable price ($250-300).The BillD-modifications maintain it's neutrality while increasing soundstage and reducing background noise. It's black-faced brother (the C-11) shares the same sonics and is a better cosmetic match for the TFM-22. The C-1/11 are NOT remote capable, however, remote volume control is one of the documented BillD mods. You might also check out the CT-Seven which came with a remote and was available in anthracite and black.
  17. You don't need to resize if you use the INSERT IMAGE applet: Here's what it looks like once you open it. (Images larger than 800x600 will be resized automatically.)
  18. Family project!
  19. THE WIFE Syonara sweetheart!
  20. Howdy Jim and welcome to the forum. Nice to have you on board. Please post some photos of your gear. Beware of the dreaded OCCD (Obsessive Carver Collecting Disorder). There is NO KNOWN CURE!
  21. Howdy Paul! Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of Carver. Please tell us a little about yourself, your system, and your taste in music. And posts some pix of your gear so we don't have to hound you about it.
  22. Howdy Antonio and welcome to the forum. Nice to have you on board. Please tell us a little about yourself, your taste in music, your gear, and your connection to Carver.
  23. Most powered subs have stereo line and speaker level inputs. USE THE LINE LEVEL INPUTS. If your preamp does not have dual outputs use y-adapters to split the signal between the mains and sub. Alternately, most powered subs have line level speaker outputs for feeding your mains. Of course you'll need an amp to drive them.... I'm not aware of any way to do that. A passive sub MUST be powered by an amp.
  24. Cornwall IIs should be rock solid down to 40Hz or so. If yours aren't I would start by recapping the crossovers.
  25. Congrats Wayne. Always great to cross something off one's bucket list. Even better when it lives up to expectations.
