They play fine on my 490t. Might be time to clean the lens.

My set arrived yesterday and is A-OK. Thanks a million for putting this together Mark. I haven't done a critical listen yet but what I've heard of the new to me material is intriguing.

    refoam

Good luck with your refoam project. Is this your first or have you done it before? FYI: Instead of using the "Attach files to this post?" option, try the Insert Image applet. It allows you to upload files as large as 14 MB and automatically resizes them to 800 x 600. From there you can insert a public link or browse to a file on your hard drive. Once the file has uploaded click OK, then click INSERT.
  4. Howdy Bill and welcome to the forum. Congrats on your new (to you) equipment. ENJOY THE MUSIC!

  6. How many speakers do I have? More than I need, but less than I want.
  7. Pindrop-[using a 1/4" or 1/2" sharp chisel]- First you remove all the deteriorated foam and carefully scrape all the glue off the basket then you wet the foam and glue around the cone with rubbing alcohol, and very carefully scrape the loosened glue off. There's step by step videos on yutube- look for 'speaker refoam' Toluene or MEK will literaly melt the old glue residue in a flash. Just be careful to limit exposure as both are EPA listed carcinogens (I have a couple of quarts left from my days in gravure printing.)
  8. Thanks for the pix Brian. Good luck with your project.

  10. I have been running a pair of identical Legacy subs in my 2 channel system since the late 80's. I don't notice any difference between stereo and mono when they are crossed over below 100. Here's an older shot with the grills off. (My M-500t's were being reacapped at the time.) and here's a current photo:
  11. Howdy Steve, and welcome to the forum. Sound like you are gonna fit right in! Tell us more about yourself and your taste in music, and don't make us beg for system pix!
  12. Personally I wait 48 hours after refoaming/reconing before powering up a speaker. Manuals for legacy Infinity products are available HERE.
  13. Congrats on the new toys Ratamahatta. Your "back problem" may be the result of aggravating an old injury that is now long forgotten. My back locks up occasionally (and for no apparent reason) thanks to a torn muscle that occured in 1981. The original injury seemed minor at the time but the scar tissue that show up on xrays says otherwise.
  14. No problem Mike. We were all in the same boat at one point or another. Which browser are you using? If I recall correctly there was a compatibility issue with newer versions of Internet Explorer. Also click on MY PROFILE (top left of most pages to the right of LOGGED IN AS:), then EDIT PROFILE. At the bottom under FORUM SETTINGS check to see if CuteEditor Editor(html) is selected as your text editor.
  15. From the "post a reply box" click the INSERT IMAGE icon on the top tool bar (4th from the right). From the INSERT IMAGE applet you can insert a link to a public photo or browse to one on your hard drive: If uploading wait for the upload complete message to pop up and click OK. Edit the WIDTH or HEIGHT to resize the image (</=800 pixels wide please) then click INSERT:
  16. Excellent work as usual Perry. Hope she performs up to expectations.
  17. Nice job on the refurb Mike. SB7000a's have sold on ebay recently for $125 (poor), $250 (OK), $395 (matched, very good) and $495 (matched, minty). LT-30's have sold for $199 (cosmetic damage to plinth), $429 (7.5/10, scratched dust cover) and $431.99 (VG, scratched dust cover)
  18. Thanks for the system pix Mike. Looks like you are off to good start. We'll try our best to help you add more Carver! I also share my man cave with a drummer, my 18 year old son, and the rest of his band too. The blue fade Pearl VBX kit is his; the PA rack, Gibson GK-55 and Marshall 1/2 stack are mine.
  19. About 5 years ago I picked up a CT-Seven to replace a stock C-1 because I thought I needed remote capability. I found the CT-Seven to be a good preamp/tuner (and a handsome component) but it was no match for the C-1. My BillD-modified C-11 blows both of them out of the water with a vanishingly low noise floor, and improved soundstage. I still own a CT-Seven but it has been relegated to my teenage son's system. (His main source is an Ipod.)
  20. Howdy Ben and welcome to the forum. Thanks for the link to your system pix. That's quite a collection. I see almost all of your gear is black so I suggest you consider a BillD-modified C-11. The C-11 is an "end-state" C-1 with a black face and all the service bulletins installed. Hope you enjoy your stay with us!
  21. Hello again Showmodel. Seems like we may have been neighbors at one time. My family moved from Philly to Chicago (Westchester) in 1959 and I stayed there through college. Later I lived on the North Side, Oak Park, Riverside and Broadview before moving to VA in 2000. My youngest brother currently lives next door to you in Pleasant Prarie, another brother is in Franklin.
  22. My son drives a pair of KG2.5s with an M-1.5t while a powered subwoofer provides bass and an 80Hz crossover. The 2.5's can handle an inordinate amount of power for their size but I added inline 3A slo-blow fuses for protection. He's been cranking them for about 3 years now without any fireworks, and I still have plenty of fuses left. .
