Sk1Bum 10,606 Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 The Tonight Show Band with Doc Severinsen (album) 2
Receiver2000 3,222 Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Since I saw Justin Hayward I have been re-visiting my Moody Blues collection. Most of my recordings are just not good, more like the Muddy Blues. This 1974 English compilation seems to sound the best. Does anyone have any suggestions for any good recordings? All my vinyl is in superb shape, the MB just don't sound very good. 1

Receiver2000 3,222 Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 I kind of go back and forth with MOFI vinyl recordings. I have many MOFI records in my extras box where I have gone back to the original presses because they just sound more dynamic than the MOFI. Sure the MOFI might be a tad quieter but I would rather have the dynamics.
Receiver2000 3,222 Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 But in the case of the MB, the MOFI's have to be better!!!!

PhilDent 1,845 Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 I just found and snapped up this one. I didn’t even know that it existed in multichannel. I know it’s a good listen when I play it the whole way through without skipping a track and then played it again from the beginning another time. I looked at the liner notes and the 5.1 was mixed by Elliot Scheiner. For you multichannel guys out there I would recommend buying anything that he mixes. My setup for multichannel playback is Oppo 103 into Anthem AVM60 processor. L/R amp = RAM 285, Center = M500Tmkii, Rears = A400x. Speakers are all NHT: L/R = 2.9, Center = AC2, Rears = 2.5i. I was thinking of using my Crimson 275 for the rears, but that just seems so decadent. As if using my Crimson 275 paired with a BillD C1 and NHT 2.5’s as my garage system isn’t decadent enough already. 3

dcl 3,254 Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Audience member: Why do you look so happy when you play? BF: Music is so great, right? I’m serious, but it’s not a joke either. Everything is in there. There’s humor, and I’ve cried when I play too, or I’ve been pissed off when I played and you can do all that. It’s all in there all the time. And sometimes it’s all happening at once. But I never got in trouble for smiling. Yeah, it’s incredible when you think that, I’ve said that so many times, that Segovia and Robert Johnson and Jimmy Hendrix, Wes Montgomery and I are all playing the same instrument. It’s like an orchestra. Every string is a different voice. 1
