  1. Welcome to the site! Good to have new members here. Another member is working on a 400 currently. I will ask him.
  2. So... My daughter decided to surprise us with a visit home from college over the weekend. She has a list of "old" films she wanted to watch with me. Ferris Bueller's Day Off - she immediately noticed the 500t in his bedroom scene. American Psycho - "Dad - don't you have that stack set up in the spare bedroom?" My job as a parent is complete - kids who actually notice their dad's hobby.
  3. Waiting for the snow to fly before I sit and watch much... it's on my watch list!
  4. Welcome!
  5. Hi there. There are a few members who know them. You should also contact Greg at Nelion
  6. I am using the LS50's in my office system. @loner_t did turn me on to them. They were originally going to be used in my main system with a sub. They just don't fill a big room at higher listening volumes. I am pleased with their sound in a smaller room and the port plugs removed.
  7. Thanks for the post... I am not certain that the performer, when recording "unplugged" versions of their work, has matured or mellowed. The unplugged venue is predisposed to being less forward? This is very timely - I was chatting with my teen son about Chrissie Hynde yesterday. Her work is very special.... Not just another female vocalist. I actually prefer this version of the song than the album version
  8. Welcome to the site! I am a big fan of the TFM-35. As @AndrewJohn mentioned, the gain on the front can be very useful. It does allow each channel to be set at different levels. I bought several colors of LED's and my daughter actually selected one blue and one green for her meters (not sure why, but I have learned never to question a teen) These work well: 12v LED Axial Lamps
  9. I am not sure how this would be accomplished. Does the Alexa have an input?
  10. Welcome! We love to see pictures.
  11. IIRC these units never power off. They just mute to output when in “off mode”(dimming the meter light)
  12. Welcome to the site! Be patient and one of the members will respond soon.
  13. Completed the series this morning! Looking forward to season two.
  14. I had full intention of watching an episode, working out and completing a few to-do list items tonight……. I just watched the first SIX episodes.

    love the faceplates !
  16. I too appreciate (usually) the attempt at moderation here on CS. Group think and personal attacks have been commonplace on the thread. Replying with a measured response/question has been interpreted as passive aggressive, egotistical and defensive. Stating that the amp 'sounds good to me' is consistently met with attacks that one is refuting their measurements. They believe that statement is mutually exclusive. The thread moved from not performing to specifications to lethal. The "experts" state "laws" and "standards" with links to IEC etc. Pretty comical. "Theoretical" accusations of danger, death and dismemberment run rampant. It would be amazing for someone to make a deal with all of the smart people.... (who have been "building tube amps for 20 years", "owned some tech biz for 30 years", "I'm a lawyer") Buy an amp.... test your hypothesis. If the chassis is deadly - you will be reimbursed. I am sure the amp would be damaged but... If not - retract what you have alleged. There are no aptitude nor personal stability requirements to participate in forums... I find short replies to be very revealing and extremely humorous. "You suck" " What a pos" P.S. A "Sherlock Holmes" will make the association - congratulations, you know how to use a search engine 😇
  17. This is why I threw in the "bass" discussion
  18. I have always wanted to own a pair of La Scala! There was a small bar in Milwaukee that had SIX of them hanging from the ceiling - powered by a rack of McIntosh blue metered beauties. The volume would get louder as the night went on - women dancing on the bar to Sledgehammer (yes, it was a few decades ago.) They are so damn big and almost every "review" out there mentions they lack real bass, especially for their size. I do suspect a purchase will send you down the upgrade rabbit hole - Crites Crites Crites... followed by cabinet refinishing - adding castors ..... $1K and I WOULD
  19. ...My wife - sorry, no link.
  20. I am happy it worked out for you!
  21. The Marantz amps are not the major source of heat. It's the processors for the HDMIs .... I use a Marantz 7702 mkII in my system. It gets hot! This has affected it's performance - some glitchiness. I ended up buying a nice little fan unit for it: AIRCOM FAN
  22. Welcome to the site! I have found that amp to be a solid performer in my home theater. Runs cool and is very powerful.
