  1. This Duetsche Grammaphone recording of Ravel's "Bolero" is excellent & exhibits extraordinary dynamic range. Caution must be used when listening at high volume levels!! While "Bolero" was the most famous piece, I really like "La Valse". It is a wild piece with crazy dynamic jumps!
  2. "The Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats. Kill me.
  3. I was in Scotland, when I walk into a pub with only one man in it. I pull up a chair as he slides me a beer and I ask him why he's all alone. He answers, "You see that barn out the window? I built that barn all by meself with me bare hands! But do they call me McGregor: The Barn Builder? FECK NO!" He slams his pint on the bar loudly, and points out the other window. "Y'see that bridge out there? I built that all by meself, stone by stone with me bare hands! But do they call me McGregor: The Bridge Builder? FECK NO!" He slams his pint again. "This very bar, I built it timber by timber with me bare hands but do they call me McGregor: The Bar Builder? FECK NO!" He slams his pint one last time and cradles his head in his hands. "...but ye fuck ONE goat..."
  4. Welcome back to Carverholics Anonymous~ I remember you....you're in my neck of the woods (I live in Spotsylvania). We need to get together sometime...
  5. Welcome, Doug! 98 six cylinder....hmmmm....Valkyrie?
  6. The rabbit's name was Oolong. The "pancake" is actually a Japanese confection, а red-bean pancake which consists of two small pancake-like patties made from castella wrapped around a filling of sweet Azuki red bean paste~ You can read about Oolong here: http://web.archive.org/web/20020607070235/http://www.syberpunk.com/cgi-bin/index.pl?page=oolong
  7. Hi, Raven~ Good to finally see you over here! WELCOME!!
  8. turns out the buzzing came from the xo board....had to put sound proofing over it... want to replace with a plate like you did...next step.... Something like this should solve the problem:
  9. Are you sure it isn't speaker farting coming from a bad surround or bad seal between the woofer & the enclosure?
  10. Welcome, C A P! I've been on carveraudio since 2006. What was your original screen name? The B&G ribbons would require a different passive crossover to work properly. You could use an active crossover & biamp using the B&G ribbons. Not sure if the result would be what you remember, as they DO sound different.

  13. A devout Christian passed away; He arrived at the Pearly Gates to be greeted by St. Peter. Welcome to Heaven! The Christian passed through to witness everyone sitting on a cloud playing harps. Is this all there is to Heaven; He ask? What more do you seek; ask St. Peter? Well said the Christian I confess I expected a little more. St. Peter remarked; Well you do have the option to check out Hell if you choose. Since you have been a good Christian I will afford you a round trip ticket if that would please you. Great said the Christian; I always wondered what Hell would be like. In an instant he was whisked away to Hell. Satan greeted him at the door. Welcome to Hell; Please come in. The Christian walked through the cast iron doors only to discover everyone drinking, partying, music playing, wild dancing, Wow exclaimed the Christian. What are you drinking Satan asked? Gin replied the Christian. I'll send a bottle replied Satan. Meanwhile a sexy buxom blond arrived to park herself on the Christian's lap & a waiter arrived with the gin. The Christian began to pour himself a drink only to discover that the bottle neck was solid glass. Pardon me Satan but this bottle doesn't seem to have a hole in it; exclaimed the Christian. Neither does She; replied Satan; This is HELL.
  14. Being a drummer myself, I find it pointless to try to pick a "best of all time" when there are SO MANY unbelievably talented drummers out there....many of whom are hardly known. Check out "young drummer of the year" on youtube; there are some kids with absolutely CRAZY talent.
  15. Welcome to the flip side of the coin, CL! By the way, guys...,her favorite word starts with a "b" & ends with "ies" there might be a couple of "o" in there...
  16. Lots of great cuts here! I use different music to test what I want to find out, but here are a few I use: Of course, the ubiquitous "1812 Overture" by Tchaikovsky--specifically the direct digital recording by Telarc with Erik Kunzel & the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. The cannons will test any system~ Vivaldi: "The Four Seasons" (Le Quattro Stagioni) Op 8 Nos 1-4 (The English Concert). I've very specific about this version also as it's done on period instruments. Ravel: "La Valse" (dynamic range/impact) Dianna Karl: "Temptation" Bela Fleck & the Flecktones: "Flight of the Cosmic Hippo" (anything that can play the bass from this CLEANLY has got it in spades) Supertramp: "Paris" (entire album--one of the best live recordings, EVER) Allison Krauss: "Oh, Atlanta" Steely Dan: "Everything Must Go" & "Teahouse on the Tracks" No Doubt: "Different People" Phish: "Guelah Papyrus" Primus: "Over the Electric Grapevine" Tierney Sutton: "Comes Love" The Yellowjackets: "Go Go", "Jacket Town", & "And You Know That" Yes: "Long Distance Runaround"
  17. Hehe~ my grandfather worked for Chrysler Corporation for 30 years...During WW2, he was an armed guard at the plant that made tank components for the Army. That was his favorite joke to tell with him in place of the border guards....thanks for the memory!
