  1. In the link I see the BOM for the 55x, does that and my 55 (mine is not the X) have the same capacitors? I am not sure, as I've only done a couple of the 55x amps. It will be very close, if not the same parts list. Also, the large 10,000uf 100v caps from Panasonic are no longer available. Best substitute at the moment is ESMH101VND103MA63T, available at Mouser. Each of your TFM amps use a pair of these.
  2. Welcome aboard! I've recapped both of those amps, as well as the led mod. You can find parts lists for the caps here: http://thecarversite.com/yetanotherforum/default.aspx?g=topics&f=131 Stick around and enjoy!
  3. I'll bet shipping would be cost prohibitive, but I can get an estimate if you're interested.... If so, pm me your address.
  4. Where are you located? I have a pair of pristine NHT 2.5 that I picked up as part of a Carver gear buy. They have all accessories, and came in the original boxes, with original foam....
  5. Steve, I took a screen shot of your email, and deleted your post, to keep your email address confidential. I will shoot you a message when I return home tomorrow. Mark.
  6. I have a few copies left, sans cover art - just pm me your address:-)
  7. Dom, Check out this thread over at Polk for re-doming your tweeters... I would use the second dome they are talking about (the silk one), at about $11 a pair. I'm sure with your skills, this would be a breeze!
  8. Never mind - just saw your last post:-(
  9. Dom, Are the middle 2 tweeters the "SDA" drivers? Are you using the interconnect cable? Would the SDA drivers operate on a summed mono signal? Just a couple thoughts...
  10. Dom, I haven't really examined any of the components of mine yet, so just wondering if the baskets are of a design that would allow you to work from the inside of the surround? In all honesty, your repair looks good!
  11. The actual tracks came from the MOFI IASCA test disc. It was produced by MOFI in 1989 for use in car stereo competitions:-)
  12. Find a nice set of Infinity Kappa 9, and never look back:-)
  13. It looks different, but I can assure you, it has the same sound quality. Michael Marks is THE GUY when it comes to infinity (I would kill to loot his garage!). Gene actually refered me to him:-)
  14. Michael Marks will re-dome it for $83 - just send him your old one, and he'll have it back in a couple weeks. I've had him do one for me, and he does first rate work. http://www.ebay.com/itm/INFINITY-Kappa-6-7-8-9-PolyDome-Driver-Rebuild-Service-I-Can-Fix-These-/221485612227?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3391923cc3
  15. What kind of music do you listen to? Do you like the subtle details and nuances of music, or are you more into visceral impact? How big is your listening room? Is it bright (wood/tile floors, lots of hard surfaces), or muted (carpet, thick curtains, big couches)? These things all play into your gear choices. There IS NO SUBSTITUTE for hooking as many different components/speakers up in YOUR listening environment, and listening to YOUR music. It's the only real way to develope your personal preference profile for gear:-) Oh, and there is no destination or finishing point - it's all about the journey, and going back to your favorite places:-)
  16. Welcome to the circus:-) One of my favorite combos is an M500t mkII into a Klipsch RF7 pair - blissful perfection:-) I think you'll fit right in here. Enjoy:-)
  17. Beyonce - Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) S H U T ___ U P !!!!!!
  18. Maybe you just need to hear it on a quality system, Lee...?

  20. That's an awesome find! I got tuly hooked on HT in the early 90's, when I heard a setup using the S-5000 speakers - totally blew me away. Interesting story about the Volkswoofer - It was created by M&K when Walter Becker wanted something better for studio monitoring, while making Pretzel Logic album. He went to M&K, and the Volkswoofer was the result.
  21. Welcome back! You are correct, electronics repair/restoration is a lot like making sausage - Just enjoy the final product, and don't watch the process:-) Glad you pulled the 'ol boomerang!
  22. Its been out for a while, but it's a total kick-ass film. Outstanding action scenes, a great supporting cast, and an awesome soundtrack. I found myself totally attached to the main character after a mere 5 minutes,- a feat many movies can't accomplish in 2 hours...
