Hi Kevin, Do you use that with your Ortofon 2M Black?
-
Where do you get those clamps?
-
Welcome to TCS, @LSD. Nice handle. Seems enlightening - and I approve. When you get a chance, share a picture of your systems..., we love pictures.

Welcomen @the_n3rd, glad you found us. Lots of info here - we focus on Carver, but any audio equipment is good to discuss or share a thread on. Looking forward to seeing a picture of your system(s) - we love pictures.

Another Netflix Limited Series I caught that is worth a watch..., is Fool Me Once. I like the "Limited Series" format, as it's not too long, one doesn't have to wait for a new season, in anticipation, or in hope, that it actually happens..., it has a beginning, middle and an end. It involves PTSD, the main character, she is a combat helicopter pilot, and the abusive and capitalistic drug industry fraud. Hard to tie all that together, but this limited series does it. Fool Me Once is one of those limited series that will keep you on edge, throughout, and as hard as you try to figure out what's going on, you won't know until the end..., with a surprise/twist ending.

Saw this Netflix "Limited" series..., and have to say, it had me on the edge..., lots of twists, and if you like conspiracy-stuff and deep state stuff (and for your sanity can separate that fiction from reality and fact...) you will like this series.

Saw the first season..., a while back. I agree, worth a watch. Season two is in production and expected 2nd or 3rd quarter this year..., should be fun!

Ferrofluid leaking/dissipating over time? Read a post on this in another NHT forum..., these speakers are now pushing the 30 year mark..., like Carver Amazing ribbons needing rebuilt. I dunno, just a thought to share.

Welcome to The Carver Site, @sandman61. There's a lot of info here. I have not in my years (and ownership of a pair of Amazings) ever heard of the Clearview crossover. So I'm no help in finding one. Google shows a few threads from 2008 on Audio Karma, and DIY Audio..., they might have some information..., but I don't know, as I haven't read them. A quick skim indicated one poster on DIY Audio, said that Clearview disappeared about 2003, and finding their crossover is going to be in the used/ebay/?? market. There was a guy that was selling a pair, he dropped in @Rapid last October, saying he was selling a pair with Clearview crossovers..., but he only posted here once. Either way, we'd love to hear more as you dig into your hunt for these, and ultimately your project..., start a thread! show some pictures on your DIY, and rock! ..., as for other crossovers..., 1. there are some guys here that like the Marchand line of crossovers with Carver speakers https://www.marchandelec.com/index.html 2. others here just use DSP, or variations like the DBX Venu360. We'd love to see what direction you pursue.

I'm into a pair of 2.5i's but they are attached to my wife's system, so I don't get to futz with them much, they are Mains, in a 7.1 system for her rom-com movie watching. I am still on the hunt for the 3.3's. I come across listings for 2.9's, but with out income, I keep telling myself to hold out - knowing that Murphy is waiting in the wings, so catch me with my audio funds depleted..., then 3 pairs of 3.3's will pop up. LoL. I still search. I have a question OK, for the NHT experts here, @Daddyjt..., since the NHT flagship 3.3's were launched in the 1990's, is anyone noticing any breakdown of drivers? surrounds, crossovers now that these fabulous speakers are approaching 30 years old? It's hard to notice slow degradation..., but if the crossovers were refreshed, did it change dramatically? What about surrounds? I'm curious as they don't look easily DIY'able to re-foam. Thanks for any insights.

Welcome @Half Life, glad you are posting. This site works best on building up an archive of contributions, as you found when fixing your TFM. We love other hobbies, too - pressed steel toys? Sounds like you have some sharing and pictures to post in the "WayOffScale" thread 😉 Again, welcome to the site. Glad you are here. -
Hard to say..., it's a balance of what your budget is, and your interest in that peice. All in all, that's a nice unit. If restored, as you indicate, it could be priced right. YMMV as we are all different. Not hugely out of the realm of realism. Think of it this way, you might come across an unrestored unit in mint cosmetic condition for around 200-300 bucks. To get it worked on, recapped, and adjusted, along with any service bulletins..., likely another 300 bucks..., that makes the math work for you. Good luck! And, let us know what you end up doing!

Welcome @Mr T, glad you found us. Lots of info here on the site..., You should be able to start a repair thread in the Amp Repair forum..., for further help, and to document your work - to share if you are so inclined. Again, Welcome and glad you found us.

Hello, Doug Beam in The Villages Florida here.
AndrewJohn replied to doug74x's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
Welcome @doug74x, glad you found us. I'm 4 hours northwest of you, (west suburbs of Chicago)..., we have some (inactive) members in Lafayette too, that come by from time to time. Love hearing your list of gear, and stories..., you should soon be able to post pictures. We love pictures. If you are so inclined, we'd love a thread in Amp Repair on your project, if you want to start one. Again, welcome! Glad you are here. -

AndrewJohn replied to Adam hockenbroch's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
Welcome, @Adam hockenbroch, so glad you found us. You will find the manuals that we have in our library in the Manuals Library, top menu of home screen. When the index loads (sometimes it hesitates) it will display what looks like a spreadsheet. click on the tab at the bottom for Carver (default) and for Sunfire) next to it, to get to the sunfire library of what we have. Again, welcome, and glad you found us! Post a pic or two of your gear when you get a chance..., we love participation, and posting a pic of your setup is a good way to brag a bit 😉 -
Welcome @Onebadta, glad you found us! And a thread on the SD/A 360 repair..., I just finished that a few weeks ago - and it's super cool that it is helping you with the same component. Lots to learn here..., and please build your own thread on your own repair(s) in the right forum. I think you should be able to find the Belt Table in the Manuals directory under CD players? or one of the groupings, at the bottom of the list. And, you should be able to access it even as a new member. As for pictures - you should be able to post..., if not today, after a few more react to your posts..., Again WELCOME - and glad you are here.

Welcome @cchoate, glad you found us. -
Welcome, @g-force, glad you found us. You have your eye on a nice unit. I think you can find one for less - unless you are in the hinter-reaches of some far away place that never gets Craigslist or Facebook postings of gear..., I'd try to negotiate a lower price, or find out if that unit is fully restored at that price. and, don't forget to ask about the "remote control"..., they are getting very difficult to find these days. initially, I'd try to get a lower price..., point out it's deficiencies, and that you would have to send it in to get it restored for full service and that won't be cheap. If seller says no, then move on - another will come up for sale.

Christmas is over..., and, last night I did some movie binge catchup..., two worthless ones (new one with Bill Murray, new one with Jean Claud Van Damm...) which I already forgot the titles of..., waste of time. But this one, was pretty intriguing, albeit filmed on the usual low-budget iphone approach to new releases. The Bricklayer, on Netflix. Ex CIA agent called back into a multi-twist plot where the world is blaming the US for global destabilizing covert activity... that can cause WWIII. Directed by same director as Die Hard 2, and Cliff Hanger.

Impedance Explained (and Speaker Impedance)
AndrewJohn replied to AndrewJohn's topic in Loudspeakers
And, then there's this, from the Carver Fest Speaker kit project (I have two, one pair still unassembled..., someday I'll get to it). In thinking about this..., there's a great example of the iterative process of speaker design..., right here in the archives of The Carver Site. Some great references and posts from some of the old-timers that I really miss, that made this site great and into what it has become... In 2015, @Toy Maker, James Sauter, created a speaker kit for distribution to attendees at CarverFest that year. It was based loosely on the Sunfire speakers of similar size..., Here's one thread, and there is another with bob Carver listening to tune the crossover's more. But I can't find that thread. I'll keep looking, or if someone knows where it is, please post.
