Zumbini is the resident Carverpedia. He can correct/update this.
Trying new music seems to happen much more on portable equipment for me. The circle of music expands as I meet more people. CS has been very instrumental in trying new music as well. Threads like What are you listening to? always expand musical horizons. Equipment hunting and auditions are also a good source of music.
Carverfest has brought a lot of new material, visiting the cabins is an ever-expanding source of music and genres.
I am certain if CF had a RAP or Hip-Hop cabin, it would bring yet another genre to forefront.
OTd had recommended Eva Cassidy and I use Norah Jones also as a reference for vocals. The CF CD from DaddyJT is the reference for most systems I have, including the HT setup. The Battlestar Galactica theme is pretty good. Telarc CD Sampler 4 has Olympic Fanfare (thanks to treitz3s' recommendation) which shows the entire orchestra in it's full glory.
I have an AR LS5 MkII (no Phono stage, just line stage) Tube pre which uses 6922/6DJ8/7DJ8. I like the Pre. Another one to consider is a Threshold FET10 HL or a FET9e. Threshold is a Nelson Pass design.
Welcome to CS, 19Joey81 !
A BillD C1/C11 is a wonderful cornerstone of a 2Channel system. You can also add a X10d clone and get some of the benefits of a Tube stage, if you choose to use C1/C11/C6/C16 (or any other) Carver pre.
