  1. Some of the Audio Research hybrid or pure Tube designs are excellent preamplifiers. A Nelson Pass FET10 also has an excellent sound.
  2. Consider a TX-11 or a TX-11a. Zumbini (Carverpedia) can point out to a parts list and a thread.
  3. On a Mac, if you use Applications -> Preview -> Tools -> Annotate, you can add text, speech bubbles, arrows, rectangles, etc., on any document that Preview supports. This includes PNG, TIFF, JPG (and it's variants), PDF.
  4. ... which are a collaborative effort between Sony and B&W. Very nice speakers.
  5. Welcome to CS, DrMarkA!
  6. You can use the serial number to identify the models. 625x2 has a serial number of 01 0 854 00024 - Year (20)01, Month - 0, Model - 854 - Sequence - 00024 600x2 has a serial number of 99 1 205 00517 - Year (19)99, Month - 1, Model 205 - sequence - 00517 There are 17-in and 19-in models that you will need to consider. Also see http://www.sunfire.com/downloads_archive.asp . Zumbini is the resident Carverpedia. He can correct/update this.
  7. Look for a 600x2 Sunfire Signature or a 625x2 Sunfire Signature II.

    Happy New Year

    Happy 2018 to all Carverites!
  10. THIS is an intriguing pair listed on eBay. The seller seems fairly knowledgeable as well. THIS is another pair. Ed's 57s at CF2017 sounded fantastic.
  11. So would this be analog or digital? which has references to Sanju Chiba's Laser Turntable , which is another interesting idea.
  12. Will look for the Kissin recording. Thanks.
  13. I have THIS recording of Concerto #2 played by Rachmaninoff, himself.
  14. Clapton - Crossroads - Disc4 Carverfest 2014 Duke Ellington - at Newport Brubeck - Take 5 (Time Out) PF DSoTM Queen - Classic - Blue Cover Dire Straits - Dire Straits Quarterflash
  15. Trying new music seems to happen much more on portable equipment for me. The circle of music expands as I meet more people. CS has been very instrumental in trying new music as well. Threads like What are you listening to? always expand musical horizons. Equipment hunting and auditions are also a good source of music. Carverfest has brought a lot of new material, visiting the cabins is an ever-expanding source of music and genres. I am certain if CF had a RAP or Hip-Hop cabin, it would bring yet another genre to forefront.
  16. Floyd - DSoTM Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms Holst - Planets Eva Cassidy, Norah Jones, Duke Ellington - may be a bit difficult to find though.
  17. I hope you received a couple of Carver amps in the resulting trade. . Also, welcome to CS, Sk1Bum!
  18. Welcome to the never-ending party@CS, nettlecreek! Looking forward to pictures, and Zumbini has a cheat sheet on how to post photos.
  19. John, welcome to the never-ending !
  20. OTd had recommended Eva Cassidy and I use Norah Jones also as a reference for vocals. The CF CD from DaddyJT is the reference for most systems I have, including the HT setup. The Battlestar Galactica theme is pretty good. Telarc CD Sampler 4 has Olympic Fanfare (thanks to treitz3s' recommendation) which shows the entire orchestra in it's full glory.
  21. I am biased towards M500t, but also like the sound of TFM 42/45/55x.
  22. I have an AR LS5 MkII (no Phono stage, just line stage) Tube pre which uses 6922/6DJ8/7DJ8. I like the Pre. Another one to consider is a Threshold FET10 HL or a FET9e. Threshold is a Nelson Pass design.
  23. Welcome to CS, 19Joey81 ! A BillD C1/C11 is a wonderful cornerstone of a 2Channel system. You can also add a X10d clone and get some of the benefits of a Tube stage, if you choose to use C1/C11/C6/C16 (or any other) Carver pre.
