  1. Dent reminds me, first and foremost, of Arthur Dent from Douglas Adams's HitchHiker's Guide.
  2. Welcome to CS, PhilDent! (Any relationship to Phil Dent, the Tennis player ). A BillD C1 is the ultimate. To color-match, a C11 would go with the 400x as well.
  3. This cannot be avoided, but the sleeve in which the record is stored. It would be better to 'move' the static charge from the vinyl to an outer sleeve, made of a suitable material. Paper or plastic have challenges with such movement. Why not put the the vinyl in an aluminum foil and remove static off the vinyl surface? Or discharge before it is played, avoiding the whole 'sleeve' debate?
  4. Is the percentage (99) correct? Static buildup can be due to other reasons as well - friction, typically.

    vinyl storage

An electronic cataloging system may be a better living-breathing solution for search ability. Storage can also be automated, but can be elaborate and expensive. Thanks for the pictures. Beautiful arrangements.
  6. Welcome el_wato , very nice amps and pre.
  7. My recommendation is Ellington At Newport 1956 . Big-band Jazz.
  8. Welcome to CS, KellsS! (Guess 'Z' has not made it into work yet. ).
  9. Bit-rate is just one aspect of the audio-codec. Are you planning to stream the MP3 to regular stereo system or just use it on the phone? Here is an example, where bit-rate is the same, but one is Apple Loseless, the other is a MP3 of the same song. For example, see the differences. If I play both of them through a BillD C1/M500t MkII, I can tell the difference between the two versions. I use an Airport Express Gen 2 to stream from iTunes.
  10. Welcome to the CS , Doug! Wonderful collection of Carver gear.

    RIP Bill Paxton

Listen to the NPR Fresh Air (Terry Gross) tribute HERE .
  12. One observation, the MG.7s have a very narrow sweet spot - horizontally and vertically. If you are the only listener in the room, then it may be acceptable.
  13. Greg Viaggiano kindly provided some Tergitol/Turgitol. The couple of LPs that I have cleaned so far are visually cleaner. I will try and do a before and after for the next cleaning.
  14. The MG.7s were about 3 feet away from the wall. Sorry about the light in the photo.
  15. I listened to MG.7s with a Parasound P5/Amp combination. They sounded really good, even without a Sub. A Sunfire sub would fill the bottom end very nicely.
  16. Can we discuss the merits/demerits, pros/cons, advantages/disadvantages, myths/cold facts/statistics,... of IPA vs non-IPA vs distilled-water vs tap-water, tergitol vs disc washer vs dish washers for record cleaning in this thread?
  17. The color I have tried looks like the CI-75 in Z's chart. This is powder-coated. Putting all three in one photo (Closest - Anthracite, Back - Flat Black, Rear - CI-75/Bronze. Excuse the dust bunnies).
  18. Does the following extract from the C1 manual (Page 33) help?
