Was someone copying someone back in the day? Has anyone ever listened to a pair of these RTR's that look similar to Polk SDA's? https://www.ebay.com/itm/224418751150?hash=item34406662ae:g:Dp4AAOSweIZgcRqp

Here is my formula: Speakers capable of handling 500w/channel or more + 60 lbs/speaker = happiness. 😎

Thanks for the heads up. But aren’t those only rated at 200 watts? I really want something that handles at least 500 watts

So I was back to square one and with using the 4.0 I upgraded to a certain level. The polk's didn't really hold up to the power that they were receiving. Kind of disappointing. They sound like they had a rev-limiter built in. Maybe it was the crossovers. Because the CV's handled the 4.0 with no issues at all. I still have 1 set of CV PA's left and they will handle 400 watts pretty well. Looking to find some speakers that can really handle 500 watts per channel or more. Ideas please!!! And I dont want to have to have a sub to get all the bass I want.
  11. Welcome to the site @JRS Its a great place to be.
  12. Welcome to the site. I also have the 42 that I am using at the moment. This is a great site and the people are helpful and fun. Sit back and enjoy.
  13. Welcome to the site Frank. The MXR 150 was my first Carver piece that I also bought when I was in the service in Germany. I have held onto it for all these years and had @Nahash5150 refresh it for me. He definitely brought it back to life and I was able to enjoy it again. Since then I have been deep into the rabbit hole and haven't found any light at the other end of the tunnel. Good luck with your project and enjoy the site. Its a great place to be.
  14. Damn it. My weekend is over and that's a long drive.
  15. Welcome to the site. Nice collection you have there. Gotta love those little 200t’s along with the C1. I have rebuilt quite a few of them and they are a really nice sounding amp. Good bang for the buck. I will be tackling the Bill D mod in the near future myself but I have to many other things going on. There is plenty of information on the mod in the preamp area for you to read if you can access it. Good luck and enjoy the site. Good people and good fun here.

I did set up the Polk's exactly at your measurements and yeh, they really sound good. Now all I need is some cookies.

The latest addition to the dilemma. Picked up these RTR's model HPR12M's really cheap and of course blindfolded. Not knowing anything except what I have read about various RTR models. Hour and a half drive and listened to them with some cheap boom box hooked to them so I could at least hear them and knew that a couple drivers worked. Brought them home and unhooked the Polk's and added them to the system. C1 and Premier 5 channel and to my surprise all the drivers worked and such a clean clear sound. Not a big wattage speaker only handling 100 watts a side but man they sound good. Think I will pair these up with the other RTR's I have and add them to the other Receiver 2000 coming.
