Howdy from TX ...and a tech question on M1.5t
BobTFM35 replied to MattB's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
Welcome to the Carver Site! Nice repair on the 1.0. I can only imagine what the look on your face was seeing the inside of the 1.5 and the glued caps. I just hope that is was not a trained professional doing that sort of repair. As for attaching images I usually edit mine in a separate photo editor to reduce the size a bit. After that I copy and paste the image into my post. Here is an example of the result of copy and paste of the image from a cap replacement I did on a cassette deck. Size shown is about 128 kb. It will then be made part of your "My Attachments" for future use in other posts. And I did cut them off. Good luck on finishing off the 1.5, and looking forward to seeing pictures of this and future projects. -

@77targa Welcome to the Carver site!! Like the list of Carver gear you have. Enjoy the site!! Let me guess, its a 911 S? -
Here is an option as long as the responsibility is only with the C-1 ...... Send it Nelion Nelion Audio - Authorized Carver Repair ( @Nahash5150 ), and all your worries are over. Think about it - What repair shop offers a 3-year warranty on their work? Nelion is not a repair shop per say but a Restoration Spa that Rejuvenates and gives a Revitalizing Treatment to your beloved equipment. Carver C-1/C-11 Restore and Bill D Upgrades - Carver Preamplifiers - Nelion Audio And after the C-1 is back I would then do the amp. Carver M-500(t) mkII Restore and Upgrade - Carver Amplifiers - Nelion Audio Also ask about their custom-made shipping boxes for both units. Good luck with whatever you do!!

Is this sim to the unit that you are talking about?

Welcome to the Carver Site!! I think there are three Carver models of amp that have 900 in its name One is the CA 900, the PM 900, and the PXM 900. The site has an owner's manual for only the PM and PXM model. The PM900 is the only model that we have a service manual. Carver Manuals - TheCarversite!

@Rickallan With a little bit of research (you can help to confirm my findings) you might find that this could be your solution. Problem - Volume control pot not working and spins. MXR-130 Service manual reported Supplier Part number VBV16-154BT4K7 (Look on page 26 of the copied version (Page 28 from the original printed version as shown at the bottom of the page) of the MXR-130 service manual for Item number VR452) MXR-6250 Service manual reports the same Supplier Part number VBV16-154BT4K7 (Look on page 25 (31) of the MXR-6250 service manual for Item number VR902) Looking for a volume pot for an MXR-130 did not come up with a solution BUT looking for a volume pot for an MXR-6250 came up with this, CARVER 6250 RECEIVER PARTS volume balance board VR-764 with pots complete | eBay The next step might be a visual confirmation that yours looks like what is pictured in the ebay offering. The 8 pin pot is for volume control. Also, a question to the seller might be if the pot (the 8 pin pot) has a min and max stopping point and does not spin 360 degrees. Best of luck.

@Daddyjt Thanks Mark for the information that you provided. I love the choice of equipment that you described and especially love the Parasound Z-12 and the RP-500SA's. I only have two 500SA's. All my amps are Carver TFM's with a lone 7t. When initially setting up the new SR5015, and using the built in Audyssey , I too was swayed to set my front speakers to small. Although it sounded way better than my previous AV preamp it did not feel right in the lower regions ie Bass. Like you it's going to require a little more seat time to dial things in with my present equipment, not only for movies but for playing Atmos related music. Switching to playing Atmos related music revealed some holes in my setup which I also need to look into. My initial Audyssey channel level adjustment settings were not available when I switched to playing Atmos music. All settings were 0 and I manually input the values that I recorded during the setup routine, but I think they need to be further adjusted. Thanks

@Daddyjt Nice clean looking setup and perfect timing on this subject and equipment setup. I have the SR5015. From new the 5015 did not come with a paper copy of the manual. I was able to find an eBay printer merchant to get me a paper copy. A lot of reading has gotten me closer than I was ever before with my initial setup. It sounded much better but needed a little more tweaks. I'm starting over with the set up and your sub crossover information is a prompt to revisit that area. I'm resetting the crossover frequency and running the setup mode again. In my original setup I had the main speakers set as small and kept all the others in their default settings as small. I'm currently using seven (7) speakers of which two are up firing Klipsch RP-500SA mounted atop the front left and right speakers. The surround rear speakers are dipoles. No in ceiling speakers. The sub is a newer Sunfire model. Question: Is your subwoofer mode set to LFE(default) or LFE+Main? Are your rear speakers also Klipsch?

I had a set of speakers that I bought when I was in Japan. For all the places they traveled and the action they endured they looked pretty good when I took them out of the cabinet for the first time in their life. The recapping gave them a new life as I'm sure it will do the same for his set.

It looks VERY free floating. I would think with new foam or rubber surrounds plus new modern caps it will sound much better. Looks like a fun project!!
