New to Carver - TFM-55x Amplifier
BobTFM35 replied to GDKZ's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
I think I am close knowing, but without a part number to help confirm, it would be a shot to get it correct. Need to know if its a 1/4" x 1-1/4", or 5mm x 20mm fuse that fits in the existing body that is shown. I'm hoping that someone comes along that can better help with this. -
New to Carver - TFM-55x Amplifier

My basis is from a Bussmann technical data sheet. Disregard the model number shown what is of interest is downloading the documentation lower down on the page. From the documentation I'm thinking and going with a guess, its a HTB-3 or 9x. But I somewhat feel that the gray part is common to possibly both. Only someone with a 55x can confirm this. The link for the document is on the left side below the picture. https://www.tme.com/us/en-us/details/bk-htb-92i-r/panel-mount-fuseholders/eaton-bussmann/ -

Thanks for that shot. Do you happen to have one of the inside portion of the holder. I think we might be talking about this type of fuse holder so compare this to yours. My thinking is that the gray portion might be a direct fit into your holder. https://www.ebay.com/itm/151152195191? -
New to Carver - TFM-55x Amplifier

I think the TFM 35 takes a TN032c which looks somewhat the same as the 55. Possibly on the barrel that is attached should be some part number markings to give a hint to the style. Something like the FH043 that's stamped on this holder. This is not what is on the 35 as I can't find a representative picture. -

You are welcome! Is it the entire fuse holder or just the screw off cap? -

@GDKZ Welcome to the Carver Site!! Love the great acquisition of the TFM-55X and that you spin some vinyl records. I myself have two 35s and three 15s in my system. That 55X might get lonely and need another 55X to share the duties. Only a suggestion 🙂. Looking forward to hearing more on your Carver and Audio journey! Enjoy! -

Sunfire TS-EQ12 power supply noise
BobTFM35 replied to ClaudeR's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
@ClaudeR Welcome to the Carver Site!! In the top heading for the site you should see "Manuals and Specsheets". Click on that and when it loads click the bottom tab that is labeled "Sunfire" in that you will find the grouping for subs and whatever schematics are available. Welcome and enjoy!! -
@gsvarney Welcome to the Carver site!! I don't think that "all" the TFM series amps are "tonally matched" or "close". The 22/25, and 24 look to be closely matched but not when comparing them to either the 35 or 15. Even the 35 and 15 have enough difference that, for me, would sway me away from using a mix of a 35 and a 15, or even entertaining mixing in one of the 20 series with my 35 or 15 if I was bi-amping. Once again that's me and also allows me to buy more amps to match things up. I guess this is a good thing? My tendency is to use all the same amps if I was going to do either a vertical or horizontal bi-amp configuration. That's me. In my system I run two TFM 35s in a Horizontal bi-amp configuration. I have other TFM amps (15s) but they are used in mono mode for the other speakers in my home theater setup. Once again Welcome and enjoy the Carver journey and experience!!

@Demo Greeting and Welcome to the Carver Site!! Taking a PURE GUESS on the repair place based on where the auction item is located that Nick is interested in. The auction item is in Ohauiti, Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty. After a quick squiz I came up wth two places. One place is north of that location in Auckland but doesn't mention Carver in their service list. https://lynxtech.co.nz The second place is south of Ohauiti in Taupo. Now this place does mention Carver as one of the brands that he can service. https://www.wotelectronics.co.nz I would rely on the feedback from Nick @earthNZ since he was contacting the place as he said "There seems to be one reputable carver technician here in NZ." Most of all Welcome to the World of Carver Gear Collecting!!

Welcome to the Carver site! As for schematics and service manuals, what is in the sites database is all that is available at this point in time. The only thing that one can hope for is a confirmation from someone that has the same unit. This is only a hunch. Looking at the schematics that are available might give some clues and maybe support for your one assumption on Q22. Look at the drawing 653-111-000 page 1, in particular Q21 to Q24. You will see that Q23 and Q24 ( MJW3281A NPN) are complimentary to Q21 and Q22 (MJW1302A PNP). I guess this kind of supports your assumption for the Q22 question? Good luck on the repair of the unit.
