  1. I know a vintage infinity guy here in Indy. Post some pics and I will have him take a look. He's currently selling these ones.... https://indianapolis.craigslist.org/ele/5003860673.html
  2. I know a couple folks running SDAs w HT so you can keep em. Please don't cut em up, sell them instead. I could prob help you Find a buyer for em too. Anyway glad your liking them.
  3. That's a ridiculous deal. The Kimber 8VS cost that by itself NEW!!!!!!!!! I'm jealous for sure lol... If you need SDA advice, hit up Travis or myself or sea....
  4. Lol your down the road from me... Need to get out and shovel shortly...
  5. MiniDSP 2 x 4 RCA....... Its a fully electronic crossover that you can use to split each L/R signal into 2 outputs, one for your highs, one for your lows... If you spend a bit more on the UMIK USB Mic, you can then incorporate REW (a free EQ graphing program) to get your room response and generate a correction curve... which can then in turn be loaded into your MiniDSP to provide a better EQ curve.. You could also use this to go fully active, meaning removing the crossover from your speakers entirely like Gary (TNRabbit) did in his thread "I'm Going Active" Pretty cool device... Couple posts around about it. I'm just using one to EQ my new sub since my existing receiver doesn't have EQ capable of flattening out my sub response.
  6. Thats it? I expected like 4 18" woofers taking up the entire bed with port tubes into the cabin
  7. Awesome book! Love some Sci Fi!
  8. I'm the same way. I've got a little bit here and there.... but this is where I have a problem. I've amased a VERY LARGE collection of digital, and I dont want to have to re-buy it on LP's. That and the added maintenance for me at least mean its not my primary listening. Its a "nostalgia" kinda thing I will pull out once in a while. Maybe someday when I am more dedicated to audio I will dive into LP's. But for now I will sit on my smartphone and queue up a bunch of songs from different CD's and switch between them while sitting in my computer chair drinking diet mountain dew, not getting up.
  9. Your already on my wavelength... Or maybe we try to marry the two.....
  10. Thought you guys here might appreciate this... There is a company called Stereo Integrity that is coming out with a new 11" sub. My comment when I saw it was that it looked REMARKABLY similar to Bob's old designs of a long throw woofer with LOTS of power capability. Here is what the owner just commented on this same thread: _______________________________________________________________________________________ The 11" woofer came about because of a need of mine. I had plans to put an HS 24" at the end of my master bedroom closet and fire it through the wall into the bedroom, etc. But then my 2 year old son loved my sister and her husband's theater room so much that I decided to turn an un-used bedroom into the media/movie room instead. That room is a pretty small room measuring a little under 12'x12' with an 8' ceiling. When you actually sit in the room with a decent sized couch of love seat there isn't much room for anything else. I was planning on putting a DO 18" box in the room but that wasn't happening nor was a DO 15" box. Then I was reminded of a long ago favorite sub of mine when I was younger and that was the Sunfire Jr subwoofers. They had their downfalls (not a very lienar motor and the PR helped the enclosure dance around the room, etc) but it was a fun small box subwoofer solution. Fast forward to today and power is very affordable so a small driver can be rather inefficient to get the bottom end out of it. But the driver must be robust enough to handle the power. I thought "why not take the HS 24" motor and use Sundown's 11" (they still call it a 10" but there is nothing 10" about it even measurement-wise) frame and cone/surround as that is the only frame/cone/surround that will handle the 5" p-p throw the HS 24 motor is capable of? A driver in a small/tiny sealed cabinet needs one major ingredient to play low - mass. You can not have a sensitive woofer in a very small sealed cabinet play really low. Case in point is a document by Dan Wiggins that I have hosted on my server for many years now. Click this text to read the document. Only after completely reading that doucument proceed to the remainder of this reply. So how was I going to get really good LFE out of a tiny package so I could have full bass in my small 12x12 room? I modified the suspension, coil, and mass on the driver and produced an 11" woofer in a 0.4 ft^3 sealed enclosure that would play as low as an HT 18" plays in a 6 ft^3 sealed enclosure. The F3 of the HST 11" in a 0.4 ft^3 sealed box is a spot-on 30 Hz. Same with the HT 18 in 6 ft^3 sealed. As I said above, power is very affordable these days. IIRC you can grab an iNuke 6000 DSP for under $400 shipped. That amplifier will provide enough power for two HST 11's and have EQ to boot if you need/want it. After measuring my room the 12"x12"x12" cubes are going to take up an average amount of space. Thank goodness I didn't go the DO 15" or DO 18" route of I would have been sitting a few inches away from the screen after the enclosure was installed. Will this HST 11" keep up with an HT 18, HST 18, HS 24? Absolutely not! But it will provide a serious amount of LFE in a small room in a very tiny enclosure and very small footprint. _______________________________________________________________________________________
  11. Hey man, wheres the bubble wrap?
  12. +1 for ROAD TRIP! 8 hour round trip drive for my first pair of Kappa 9s, and 10 hour round trip for the ALIIIs... WAY cheaper than shipping, and WAY safer:-) LOL... I've got you beat on this one Mark.... 18+ hour roadtrip to pickup my RS-II's in Georgia... And like your trip, totally worth it!
  13. They would perform quite well in that setup. Likely no need for a sub either. I would love a set of the 6s myself. They were and still are on my list for nearfield.
  14. Rokits are REALLY REALLY GOOD. I would use them nearfield in a heartbeat.
  15. I haven't but the folks at headfi.org go into orgasms about them lol
  16. No way they have never been used. Just likely not that often. Nice looking but given he is taking offers not worth it IMHO. Hes going to try and get as much out of them as possible and likely above eBay listings since they have plastic wrap on them.
  17. I rue the day Beats bought MOG.... MOG was my thing.... I'm still rocking my 60 day free trial of Beats, but once it becomes pay to play, I may switch to Spotify...... Didn't know Amazon streamed music. May have to check that out too. Though I think Spotify is what I want (Squeezebox compatible). Be interested in your thoughts....
  18. Here is an even better one.... Before doing a long listening session grab those things called a Q-Tip... and use em. If your ears are all kinds of gunked up it can really detract from what you hear.... That and I find the more beers/shots/mixed drinks you drink the easier it is to listen to 96kbps MP3's
  19. Madmike: Which Heils?
  20. That SC-35 looks BOSS!!!!
  21. Rebuilding from what I understand is very tedious but doable. I know someone that had a set of these and was totally in love with them. For the price they are good, if you really wanted, I believe Magnepan may still rebuild these, however the price will be more than buying a set of MMG's new from what I remember..... Like stated, need lots of power, lots of room, and IMHO a sub or two for that thump in the chest.
  22. Done it, prefered the infinity primus p series speakers Tbh. Easier to drive and just sounded better.
  23. Even my wife would never let me do that ! I'll trade a 55 up for a TFM 75..., but that's about all I can imagine Hehehe... good man.... I am snagging a Parasound HCA-1200ii for the RS-II's. Hope to have it in my hands late next week.
