  1. Like all of you, I have several Carver components. Not sure what Mr. Carver was up to when, in 1976, I purchased my first set of gear while visiting Japan; a Sansui 8080, Technics turntable and Kenwood 777 speakers. When I discovered the “Carver Receiver” in 1985, I became a proud owner of one. Currently I run two M1.0t(s) bridged mono driving a set of appropriate Kenwood speakers (not the 777s) along with a McIntosh MC402 into a pair of B&W DM 604 speakers, tied together with a NAD preamp, 1400 WPC. I’m not an electrician. What brought me to this site was researching the best way to Rehab my 1985 Carver Receiver to give to my daughter. I have an appointment with Nelion in eight months to do just that. Meantime, I’m going to try to learn everything I can about Carver via your experts on this site. Thanks for reading this and letting me join. -Jeff S

  2. Greta Van Fleet, The Battle at Garden's Gate is released today, April 16, 2016 "After listening to it repeatedly, I found the standout element of “The Battle at Garden’s Gate” to be the beginning of trying to part ways with the sound that the band’s detractors accused of being too similar to Led Zeppelin. Their newest effort sees Greta Van Fleet looking for its own identity, trying to forge its sound, and showcasing an ambition to continue conquering the hard rock skies. The only problem will be if the enchanted fans who felt for the proposal that reminded too much to Led Zeppelin will be as excited with the almost more original sound direction." 3. Hello, It's a pleasure being here after owning a MXR-130 and Polk Monitor 5's since 1984. Recapped and reflowed it continues to work great. Will replace other items for continued reliability. Obtained 2 more which have various needs, from relays on one, to many failed components on the other. I also have two Yamaha M-50's that have the X-power supply similar to the Carver units. Repaired one, the other is confounding. I look forward to tapping the wealth of knowledge here. Cheers, Lee

  6. Welcome, @JRS, Glad you found us. hang out, enjoy. And, of course, that setup you have..., gotta' post some pics. 1400WPC, that sounds awesome - and I bet it does ! 😉 Great story on giving the receiver to your daughter..., I gave my daughter an M1.0t MkII Opt2, (from Nelion/Greg) new black faceplate I put on, and a C-11 (from DennisMiller) pre-amp driving Polk speakers and a Denon 47f servo-tonearm turntable..., WAY more than I had at her age..., but she's worth it. Your daughter no doubt has your genes, as she jumps into Carver-land. Oh, yea, I had to also give my daughter an RCA-to-Apple-lightening cable to connect her iPhone to stream tunes through the C-1..., some sacrifices are required 😉 ... taking her iPhone stream through the system blows her friends away..., compared to their little blue-tooth speakers they own and think are "audiophile."

  10. Hello JRS, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. There are quite a few Carver receiver fans around here, and I think almost everyone has an M1.0t or more. They're both highly regarded. Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading some pics of your gear in the Members Systems area. We all like pics of all kinds of audio gear. In the meantime, kick your shoes off, turn up the music, and welcome aboard.

  14. I've posted this elsewhere on the site, but 25(?) years ago my house was burgled and my Sony 3 head cassette deck was taken. A few years ago it showed up on the local classifieds. I had replaced the power switch with something not stock so it was easy to identify. Got it back for $25 and it works perfectly.

  15. Sorry to hear that. It would have scarred me, truthfully. I am betting that these days we are relatively safe from thieves even knowing what the hell they are even looking at.

  17. Turns out, it was a former coworker that lived around the corner from me. I didn't discover the burglary. I was gone for the weekend, and when I got home there was a note on my kitchen table from the local police department. Some kids were driving by and saw a man carrying an armload of stereo gear down the sidewalk at 1 in the morning. They turned around, and the guy dropped the gear and took off running. They picked up the gear, and then called the police. I also had a Glock 17 stolen in that burglary that was recovered a few days later. A woman was trying to cash stolen checks at a grocery store, and her boyfriend had the gun under the seat of her car.

  18. In September of 1988, my house got burglarized, and my stereo got stolen. All of the stereo gear was recovered except the Pioneer CT-F900. I never replaced it.
