  1. Hi Everyone, New guy here! I probably got a bit of info here 2 years ago when I wanted to repair my C1. Instead of just repairing I found out about the BillD mod and went ahead got it and I love it! However... I've always lusted after a C4000 and my luck came in yesterday! I now have a version 2 unit. After cleaning the pots she mostly works. I can hear the AutoCorr work as does the LF cal. Not sure about the peak unlimiter. Barely flashes at max even with loud passages. Delay and rear amps work fine. I'll have to set up my speakers a little different to properly try the Sonic Holography. But this all lead me to joining this site! Now that I know what the BillD did for my C1 I'm looking for similar upgrade for the C4000 MkII Many thanks for letting me join! Tekerman

  4. Hello All, I have owned a Sunfire HRS-8 Sub for about 4 years. I was so impressed with it's performance that when a Sunfire True Subwoofer MKIV came up for sale on the Goodwill auction site I had to take a chance on it. Unfortunately when I plugged it in it has a very loud hum. After spending some time searching the internet for repair help I came across this site. I already have several of the electrolytic caps on order. But I have not had much luck finding a schematic for this beast. I would very much appreciate any help from anyone that has gone down this road before.

  6. Hello Tekerman, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. You won't go wrong with either of those preamps. I have a BillD modified C-1 and a Bonzoro modded 4000t. Either one is the right choice. Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading some pics of your gear in the Members Systems area. We all like pics of all kinds of audio gear. In the meantime, kick your shoes off, turn up the music, and welcome aboard.

  10. No, I'm up in Massachusetts a little north of Boston. There's quite a bit of Carver gear floating around this area but I don't recall seeing any of the car audio gear. And I don't generally search for this stuff on eBay although I'll look around a bit for the car audio stuff specifically as I'm interested to get more details about the pieces. I find many eBay sellers overly 'optimistic' (to be polite) in their assessment of condition and pricing . I do, however, find eBay useful for getting components from sellers that are parting out equipment. There's also the occasional new stock that is always a pleasant surprise. I just got a brand new power switch for this C4000 I'm working on from eBay. And I will definitely look for the VW with the 6 or 7 amps you mentioned - probably had a large alternator and some huge supply caps, too!
