Sorry for the confusion - I was referring to my network devices not being connected via copper.
-
FWIW - I stream FLAC files from JRiver on my laptop to a Sony Blu-Ray player connected to my C-1 via a DAC, all over 802.11n wireless and I have ZERO issues with noise, skips, latency, etc. It works so well I am continually amazed - my TV, multiple PCs, tablets, etc. all ride on the same wireless network. Now that I think about it, I don't have any devices connected via copper. I realize this isn't the same as streaming to individual speakers, but thought it would be good info to have anyway. I originally thought I would set up a separate, music-only wi-fi network but now I am thinking it isn't needed. Time will tell I guess...

You might want to try emailing him Paul. I don't think you are likely to get a response here...

Just thought I'd share something I tried on a whim. I have been ripping my entire CD collection again into FLAC files and noticed that the PC was having a hard time with Jackson Brown - Running On Empty. I ejected it and discovered that it had a pretty long scratch running diagonally from the center hole almost to the outer edge. I figured that there was nothing to lose, so I grabbed a microfiber cloth and some of this from the garage : I use it to take hazing and small scratches out of vehicle paint so how bad can it be, right ?? Not to go too hard against the common consensus (which is to not rub a CD in a circular motion) I put a little of the glaze on the rag and rubbed it in a circular motion until I could no longer see the scratch. Actually, it was still faintly visible from an angle but I figured it would be better than it was. I wiped all of the residue off and it looked 100% better. I threw it back into the drive and JRiver ripped it with no errors or retries. I'm sure if the scratch is deep enough it wouldn't help because it is not a very aggressive polish, but for the light stuff and stubborn smudges it sure does the trick. Smells like bananas to boot !!!

Welcome to the site !! OCCD (Obsessive Carver Collecting Disorder) has no known cure and is very contagious, especially if you spend much time around this place !!! Consider yourself warned... Some will call this blasphemy, but I doubt you will have any issues with your 15 amp circuit. At 120 VAC that is 1800 watts available. That is a LOT of power available. Worse case you will notice some degradation of sound or possibly trip a circuit breaker. I currently run two MKII Opt 2 M1.0ts, in mono mode (>1,000 watts RMS each) into speakers far less sensitive than yours, along with a 700 watt Class D amped Infinity sub - all from a single 20 amp breaker. It does have a lot of sheer output power. Of course, under the right circumstances, most any amp can destroy speakers while in failure mode. You can fuse the speaker leads if you want. Dom has a handy chart on here somewhere that is good for estimating the fuse size. What "Carver Amp noise" are you referring to ? Mechanical hum from the amp or noise that is passed into the room via the speakers ? I made a relay box that is switched on and off with a switched outlet on my C-1. I plug the M1.0t amps into it and the C-1 is never subjected to the current draw from them. You could do the same and use a 12V low current trigger relay that your receiver could operate. -

Why can't we work out our differences? Why can't we work things out? Little people, why can't we all just get along? President Dale - Mars Attacks !

I like the way you think!! Unfortunately for me, the Polks will probably be quite hard to find and I may end up having to travel quite a distance to get them. I have been watching for almost a year and have only seen 1 pair within a days round trip. And with the demand for them, people are beginning to ask some crazy $$ for them. Besides, I know if they both were in my house it would be quite hard to part with either of them, and that could get me into some trouble here at home Here's another pair at a much more reasonable price : Asheville CL That is only 90 miles or so from me so the mule offer still stands.

Come on Rod - I only have 1 !!! (Right now anyway)

I recently scored a non-functioning Sunfire True Sub Signature that I hope to incorporate with the AL-IIIs in my upstairs system. It will replace an Infinity PS312 handling sub duties right now...

M1.0t - non-inverting...

That's the asking price. I bet he is negotiable. If you are planning on attending Carverfest this year you could buy them now, I'll store them here at my house and bring them with me to Carverfest for you to pick up. Just throwing it out there. It's only 3 1/2 hours or so from me to them.

Your title says AL-III Plus or 1.2TLs. Funny, I have both and another pair of AL-III's that have had the woofers replaced with JL Audio subs as well. They can deliver pretty impressive bass, but they fall short of the chest pounding experience you seek. The AL-III Plus pair will not create a wall of bass that will hit you in the chest. 1,000 sq. ft. is a large size listening area. IMHO it is too large for any of the speakers you are considering to pound your chest, so to speak. I believe the Polk's would win any contest in sheer output, especially with deep bass in the mix. That said, I love the ribbons in the AL-IIIs and they won't be leaving any time soon. Good news is both are relatively popular and you can sell them if they don't fit the bill. There are a pair of PRISTINE 1.2TLs on CL in SC right now... Polk 1.2TLs

Elliot Sound Products If you go there, scroll down to the crossover section. There are several types available. These are kits however. You have to buy the parts and assemble them yourself.

Come on - you can't dangle a juicy carrot in front of us like that without details... Spill the beans - inquiring minds want to know !!! Besides, I want to see if you get a chance to detail the parts before Phil sees this and we get an encyclopedia article on your gear !!!

Cool !! What are the next pieces you will be looking for ?
