  1. I dont' know for sure, but my HR 895 comes out of Standby when I press the "Power" button on the faceplate. The display lights up with the current settings (FM, or ?) before it went into standby. The power button on your remote should do the same thing - I think. I don't have an 880 - but this is how my 895 works. If this suggestion works, please let us know.
  2. Catchin' up. Nice pics. LT, stop drooling !
  3. Supply and demand. It's all about economics, baby! Looks pretty good, here:.... Enough for Sony to get in on the action ! But then, you see it relative to other formats - but it's on the rise, while all (most) others are declining.
  4. I didn't share when it happened, but Carl Palmer was at the Arcada Theater, here in St. Charles, on June3. Sold out, but lots of empty seats..., we moved to the third row right after the lights went down. It was outstanding. He's been at the Arcada about every 3 years now with the "Carl Palmers ELP Legacy." Picture from June 3, 2017. Photo: Luciano Billiot Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy celebrates a sold-out show at the Arcada Theatre in Saint Charles, Ill., June 3. L-R: the band’s Paul Bielatowicz, special guest Mark Stein, Onesti Entertainment’s Ron Onesti, the band’s Carl Palmer and Simon Fitzpatrick and Palmer manager Bruce Pilato. Paul Bielatowics, guitar. Mark Stein of bands, keyboards. Simon Fitzpatrick, bass They played the Olympia Theater, in Miami FL, last night (I wasn't there). Tour dates almost every night, through September! That's some solid Prog Rock interest.
  5. I was toodling around, looking for a Metallica video, and stumbled on these girls' cover. Just amazing, I think. I know Susan and I tried hard to encourage our kids in everything they did - now one is a pianist, the other a finger-style acoustic guitar player..., they play for the enjoyment. The range and interpretation here is raw - but in a couple years, wow! Two songs posted here to get you going - maybe a tear - (they have a channel). The Simon and Garfunkel cover grabs you.
  6. A little morning spice for Saturday! (The spice is any number of choices in the "up next" list on the youtube page for this song!!
  7. Mick Fleetwood - turned 70 today. Born in 1947. (My first car was a 1947 Willy's.)
  8. Shake Your Money Maker
  9. The message from my father's day card from my wife said something like: "...behind every perfect dad, is a perfect wife." She got that right - she doesn't even ask when I get a package, anymore!
  10. Welcome! That's a great story. "It happened one day on the way to Margaritaville." ...lookin' for new flip flops. Weclome to OCCD.
  11. Welcome, Amiga. This is the place. And, if you have the will, and just enough skill, you will be successful in your refresh. Lots of help here. Welcome!
  12. Happy Birthday ! Great gift, ..., your wife is definitely in tune with your hobby. That's awesome.
  13. Not me, I'm in the midwest. Would love to see some pictures and commentary of your observations. I'm curious how it might differ or be the same as, AXPONA. (AXPONA has its snake-oil too... "magnets")
  14. Nice work, LT, Excellent thread to get to the surface, Jim, Kevin. Thank you. Not my favorite task - but it's one anyone can do. I've refoamed several dozen - mostly EPI (which are very easy). I've always replaced the dust caps, and did the "shim" approach. Looking at this, and the big project looming is a pair of Infinity towers that have a slightly different dust cap - I think I have to learn the non-shim approach. Been putting this one off too long- let's see, 6 infinity drivers..., I'm guessing 2 days at my speed.
  15. It is a last-resort, I think. Done it, but it is time consuming, and not practical for, say 100 records "just to do it." But for a critical LP in a collection, it's a good choice/alternative to tossing the LP and replacing it. There's a number of YouTube videos that show the process. In perspective, it is an option that has its place.
  16. This BS&T album, side one, cut one, REALLY wakes sonic holography up. SH through out the two sides, with all the BS&T instrumentals - what a stage !
  17. Another from tonight's vinyl playlist...
