  1. Welcome, SPb-Stan. As you know, there's a lot of reasons to be here - our "stories" so to speak. Would love some pics (we love pics here) from your SF days and running a shop out there in the "biz.", if you have and can scan them... History is a good way to paint that picture with images. I lived in the Bay area back then - and a lot of today's members lived there then, and now - some of us may have crossed paths? Tell us a little more, and pics..., Welcome!
  2. Holy crap..., I've been secretly collecting these..., Now the price will go up like Itch and LT have driven m500t prices... Lines are forming at record stores everywhere...., (oh, wait, that might be for Record-Store-Day...)
  3. Welcome. There's a lot to learn here - take your time, read, read and read. Lots of threads here of success doing those mods. And, ask questions. BTW, we are addicted to pictures..., insert a few of your system, and tell us the story how you got into Carver? (BTW, there's a few things here on Carver Auto/Car stuff - not a lot, but if you are into car stereo - do you have a Carver car am? or?)
  4. They look bigger too, when they are vertical..., Giants!
  5. Very nice deal. Great to have unexpected outcomes. I'm nostalgic about your listening room, there, Wayne. I had my first Carver setup (2 TFM35's) in my garage in Marin, when I lived in that perfect-weather state. Carpet on the floor, and the cars outside. Lots of stuff for diffused surfaces on the walls, too. Many a cold beer and tunes there in the 80s and 90s. (needed a "weeping" emoticon...)
  6. You have found the place to be! Welcome. Love that list. Don't forget pictures. Use the 4th icon from the right at the top of the editor, to insert. Welcome!

    VICE NEWS

Getting back to Vinyl... With the resurgence of vinyl, I'm finding that better pressings are an incredible part of overall system improvement..., For years, searching for the next gizmo, buffer, or processor to add, speakers to buy, amp to mod, ..., all were great additions, Many with good or better results, others making me say "damn, snake-oil purchase...Grrr." But, all things being equal (cartridge, TT, the chain...) lately it's been better vinyl pressings of old favorites are improving the whole audiophile experience in ways that I couldn't have imagined. Not always, but remarkably noticeable. Anyone else entering this realm with the same observation?
  8. Welcome to the TheCarverSite!, 666mojo Consider starting another "Welcome Thread." Send us some pictures (we love pictures) of your gear. Looks like you have a good lead on getting the ribbons repaired with SEA. We hope you stick around, and join the OCCD therapy here at TheCarverSite!
  9. Very nice. You've come a long way on your OCCD journey. I bet you have a few stories to share. Welcome, and thank you for the pics - we love eye candy on this site.
  10. Good to know. I have one of these carts on a Pioneer PL-41 (which is for sale)...
  11. That's an excellent read. Her voice is not overly haunting - but intriguing, while very engaging as it meshes with the guitar track. Exposure to music from other cultures and human origins really expands the listening list. That's on my list now. Thanks David.
  12. Outstanding read. That's the second time I' heard the expression "We went out to the meadow." This time defined. Waits' comments are exceptional. Thank you for posting - and nice to see another NYT reader, on CS!
  13. He played the "everyman" perfect, every time. My favorite was Twister. But some of the best lines and great scenes and memorable Bill Paxton are in True Lies with Arnold and Jamie Lee. He pulled off the used car salesman wanna-be spy flawlessly, revealing his true character acting ability in the corvette scene and out on the spillway. Not enough actors like that today. RIP
  14. I still like Disney movies,
  15. Succession planning! Great milestone, nice way to recognize it, and those that made the difference.
  16. Welcome to the site - lots of information and great help here on this site - glad you found it. If you are ready to go straight two-channel, (no delay, no extra surround amp like in the C4000) then a C-1, or a C-1 with a BillD mod may be a nice alternative to experience. I use several systems, and one has a 4000t preamp, and I use the delay feature, but I may be an anomaly - I also like using my Carver H-9AV from time to time. These Carver surround sound features were early market entries that Dolby won out over (one way to look at it) - but I like them for my music listening experience. Keep your C-4000, once you get the board back, just begin to nurture and feed your OCCD (obsessive Carver collecting disorder) by adding an alternative.
  17. And another welcome. This is the first time I've seen a post measured in "a beer's worth" of writing..., and truth be told, the site is getting an overhaul, as the current environment has some shakeyness..., you got that hole "beer's worth" of writing done with out a crash. You are a good omen! Welcome !
  18. This is a cornerstone project of TheCarverSite! I cherish the first Reference CD, and look forward to this one. I enjoyed watching the suggestion thread - which I respect other's taste and selection of music, over my own wierd taste. Having said that, I'd like to make a contribution to cover the project's CD duplication and distribution postage. do we have a mechanism/fund for that?

  20. Wow, Took a family day, and I missed a lot! Welcome Chops - nice method, teaser intro, followed by pics. Those are some great looking systems and histories. This is a great site to keep your Carver addiction alive. As you pick up gear, this is the place to get it back into top operating condition. Much of what is out there has aging components, and the experience you have from days gone by IS possible - but it might take a bit of restoration as things up for sale aren't always in perfect shape. The TX-11a is a great tuner - I'm into FM as well - it does even better with an amplified antenna in your attic - there's a few threads here on great ideas to maximize the ACCD in the TX really make FM something to behold. Welcome !
  21. Welcome Carsten. We love pictures, and it's great to see how far the Carver reach is. Just a few weeks ago, we had a new member join from Italy. Glad you found these. My first entry into Carver was in the mid 80's too, and it was just a year ago or so that I finally added a pair of Carver Amazings to my rig. Let us know what you are driving these speakers with! They LOVE power. You will love them with power. Please stick around and be a part of our community! Lots of threads here on the Amazing speakers - and help if you need it if a repair is necessary. Welcome!
