  1. I've seen it and you'll enjoy the whole thing. I'll watch anything with Benicio.
  2. Yasi Hofer's Working Man's Life Recently became acquainted with Yasi. This is a bluesy tune and but a single facet of what she can do.
  3. When the original series was on I was glued to the tv and found it utterly fascinating. Really dug the revival series as well. Got a light?
  4. Brian Setzer - Rebelene
  5. Elf - Annie New Orleans I always thought that was Blood, Sweat, and Tears
  6. Ah, this looks like some fun. I submit The Raid 2: Berendal This Indonesian film is firmly rooted in martial arts and organized crime yet utterly better than anything Hollywood could offer. Enter Silat master Iko Uwais who has most recently found fame in Mile 22 and one of those endless star wars films. But before that he made several films in his native Indonesia. This guy makes Bruce Lee look dated. Taut, intense fight scenes directed by Gareth Evans like the one linked below are staples of the story, but as good as this one is, the best is yet to come. Track down The Raid 2: Berendal and stream it, buy it, whatever. You'll be glad you did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8QsSqqX2yk&frags=pl%2Cwn
  7. These are the best two rock albums of 1980 in my view. Every track is a stunner and both from Canada. Rush - Permanent Waves Max Webster - Universal Juveniles
  8. I think I'd be having a word with the seller.
  9. I was a high school radio DJ. The station was located in a separate room attached to the electronics class and during senior year I ran the last 3 hrs of the school day playing anything I chose. One day the electronics teacher was reviewing the day’s playlist when he saw Foreplay - Long Time in the log and he nearly blew a vein in his skull convinced there was sexual innuendo in the song. I had to play it for him to keep my slot at the controls.
  10. Phil Hartman also did this one:

fmfool.com is another good one. It will produce a signal strength chart and location graphic based on your data input
  12. Well, sure. But you won’t get ‘extra’ power because some channels are unused.
  13. Tim feeling the Carver power!
  14. The measurement of 'quality' requires a solid, agreed upon definition of what 'quality' is. That is not possible. We can measure certain aspects of quality but because quality itself lacks certain definition we cannot agree what such a measurement would be. In the best selling philosophy book of all time, Zen And The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, author Robert Pirsig posits that 'quality' is the interaction between subject (sound) and object (the listener). That interaction is necessarily different for every listener simply because no two listeners are exactly alike. Therefore 'quality' remains an abstract without an agreed upon interaction. It lacks control except by the individual.
  15. For the BillD C-1 mod you should start your research here: http://thecarversite.com/yetanotherforum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=9645 and here: http://thecarversite.com/yetanotherforum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=4142
  16. Why not rip the original CD to wav and burn a new copy? That way you'll always have a reserve.
  17. All good. Glad you found a resource.
  18. You could always try vinylengine.com
  19. Dent reminds me, first and foremost, of Arthur Dent from Douglas Adams's HitchHiker's Guide. Whenever one of my buddies has a pregnant wife I tell him when his kid is born the big 'dent' in it's head was me. . Sometimes they don't appreciate that.
  20. As for price, I'd suggest watching a few sales to gain a sense of what the median price is for a particular piece of equipment. Meanwhile, do your research on what your needs and wants are; wattage, aesthetics, functionality, etc. For example, my first Carver piece was an M500 (no 't') amplifier and I bought it simply because it fit on my shelf. Suggestions of either the M500t or M1.0t are solid and each amp has the added benefit of being subject to the MkII upgrades should you feel the pull of a real beast amplifier. The C-1 preamp is also fairly versatile and has a good phono section. It too can be modified and given near world class performance. Should either of these components not ultimately suit your needs they are all easy to sell again. Oh....and if you decide you're going to bid on something being auctioned then let us know in the "Dibbs" section so no one here bids against you.
  21. Secondhand and retired fleet vans, the great majority of which are white, can be cheaply purchased almost anywhere across the country. I posit this is why the 'white van speaker' stories persist. So, if you think about that and the sales pitch has to start with a lie.......
  22. You old stick in the mud. Expand your genre horizons. For us cheap skates: A CD can be had for $5. Got my curmudgeon badge at 25.
