Toobs , several folks had tubes! The Bobfather was packing up, when I visited him! His big tube amps were on the table, I wish I could of heard them! That was Jeremiahs first look at a pair of tube amps! I could tell he was curious! Hope I can make it again! BarryG

My day trip there last year was fabulous! I am really trying to make plans to go at least for a weekend! It's right after school starts up here which makes if difficult! My grandson and I really enjoy meeting everyone, especially Bob! BarryG

Too many , but Stairway to Heaven blew me away. First time I heard it was like in 1970 or 71 live at Baltimore Civic Center! a very fond memory ill never forget! Polk has replacements for mw6509s. They look different but sound about right they are $60 each, club Polk members get a discount and free shipping! I think they ended up as about $48 each BarryG

With a single m-500t mkii or two m-500t mkii's biamped with active crossover, I would choose the iiia's, Keep in mind my room is too small to do the ALS hybrids justice! Also the ALS need a bit more than the M-500t can provide! I wish I had the room and power to set up the ALS hybrids properly! Contact Magnepan a new ribbon was about $100 on exchange! Its not a difficult replacement! A lot of screws and two wires to solder! I will be selling the hybrids this spring because I do not have room for them. LonerT had expressed an interest a few months back! I will be moving probably this summer! BarryG

I also like vintage! I could kick myself for trading away my Magnepan iiia's. I am now using the Carverfest speakers which sound great! The m-500t mkii was not quite a good mix with the ALS hybrids, just not enough umph, probably due to impedance issues! I did use it to drive ribbons and a m 1.0t mkii opt 2 on the woofers with an active crossover! That setup did ok for me. I wish I still had my maggies! BarryG

That's great z, that's an awesome Karma for sure! I was just reading about larrys rings on the Polk site! Considering upgrade options after I finish the repairs on my 1b's! I am new at that site, a lot of great info on Polk speakers there! I have noticed a lot of handles over there correspond to members at both of the Carver forums! I am sure Zack will love the upgrades! BarryG

I finally got my girls to compare mine to their iPods, they notice a big difference, my grandson enjoyed going to carver fest ! Hoping he takes an interest! BarryG

welcome John, We love photos as well. You have a beautiful pre-amp, many of us would love to have one. I am not an expert here on the tubes, but I think they are both used for output from all sources! I think both tubes work on both of the phono inputs. I have been using my m-500t MKII , I think I may switch to the m1.0t MKII opt 2 and see how that sounds . These speakers are fun to play! Very surprised at the sound they put out! Time to wake up the neighbors! Lol! BarryG
