    Gatlinburg Burns

I checked with my children in Johnson City, they also say air quality is poor, they can smell the burning and see a lot of haze! They are clear of the danger for now! My ex-wife who has severe asthma is having a hard time though! Praying for rain ! BarryG!
  2. Welcome to the site! A wealth of info is found throughout these threads! I have been here a while, but still learning as I read! The C1 is an awesome preamp and the Bobfather recommends them for even his tube amps! Enjoy your stay, Kik off your shoes, get a nice beverage, crank the volume and let the tunes roll! As always enjoy the music! Barryg
  3. I say crank up 1812 overture and let the digital canons do their thing! Lol, Very impressive Travis! BarryG
  4. Much too often! I think Greg is working on an update! Barryg
  5. Reminds me of an old Warren Zevon song (Linda Ronstadt also covered it) 'Carmelita'. Opening words are "I hear Mariachi static on the radio, and the tubes they glow in the dark..." BarryG
  6. Welcome to our site! Kick off your shoes, crank the volume and enjoy the music! A lot of info around here! We love photos by the way! Have fun and stay a while, BarryG
  7. What's the serial number out of curiosity? It is a very unique unit! Sounds great, thanks for posting pics of your system! BarryG
  8. I'll try and post again, site went down before I could post last time! It was a lot of fun! I took my m-500t the one that BillD refreshed in 2010! It was marks first listen to the m-500t! When we used my amp, we hooked the Deconvolution mask to the input! It was the first test of the mask! I left the amp without the mask for Mark to try on the other klipsch speakers! It was my first time hearing any klipsch, I was impressed! My amp was paired with the la Scalas and they sounded good! Mark had these a while, I would imagine these would sound awesome with a crossover recap! I think my favorite setup of the day was the Chorus 1's with the tfm55! Sounded excellent throughout the full range! My second favorite was on the deck! I was amazed such a soundstage could be present outdoors! It was fun watching Randy looking for other speakers bear the house! Wow! The JBL's! Very loud and in your face! They were impressive! My thoughts on this setup is it will improve as the crossover gets dialed in and the other amp gets hooked up! It was fun watching the meters on the amp on this one! The JBLs had chest thumping base and very loud horns for the high range! I think the highs and lows overpowered the midrange a little, which is why I think the crossover will help! Next time! I'll bring my MKII m-500t do he can hear the difference! It was a lot of fun, Mark thanks for hosting us! It was good to see your wife enjoying rge equipment and music as much as us! My thoughts after this day are, if I get a bigger apartment, I see a pair of klipsch speakers in my setup! So far everyone I met from CS has been great to hang with! Randy thanks for the audio reel to reel tapes! Mark, again thanks for hosting! Let me know your thoughts of the m-500t without the mask!
  9. That seems like a fair to average price! The C-11 does cost more than the c-1. I have seen them higher. They do not show up very often, so if it were me, and was wanting it, I would for it! Be advised though, many of us are enablers to the affliction known as OCCD! And it seems you are well on your way to joining us! OCCD is Obcessive Carver Collecting Disorder! Have a great day! BarryG
  10. Welcome to the site! A lot of nice gear! The CD player has a small belt that probably will fix the opening and closing problem! The tfm-25 is a nice amp, probably a good idea to refresh the caps on it! I would second the idea to find a c-1 As a preamp! There is a lot to learn, and you will learn a lot, lots of great info through the forum pages! Do not be afraid to ask questions as you go! As always enjoy the music! BarryG
  11. I don't mind at all ! Maybe next Saturday! I'll be taking an m-500t for him to try with one of his speaker pairs!

  15. I had a Dbx crossover i sold on eBay a while back ! I have parts to build one , mine takes modules from Marchand, the modules I have cross at 100hz. Not a priority project since I got my Carverfest speakers! Do you know what crossover point your looking for? Barry
  16. Looks good! Now you need an active crossover! Barry

  23. I am a fan of the Maggie's with ribbons, I loved my IIIas I could kick myself for trading them away! I like the vintage Polks too! Not a fan of newer polks! Too bad you missed out on the speaker build from last Carverfest! They sound fantastic with the sunfire sub! BarryG
  24. Too many losses this year! RIP Scotty ! BarryG
  25. Clearly there are similarities , plagiarism imho NO! Bring a Zeppelin fan I may be biased! That progression has been around long before spirit! An aside! First time I heard stairway to heaven was live at Baltimores civic center (now royal farms arena) back in 1972! I was in tenth grade! BarryG
