  1. Welcome trogg ! never too old! I still take my 86 yo mom to rock concerts! This a great community for everything Carver! The techs here are very helpful, I see in the chat your already in good hands with Dennis Miller! Dennis has upgraded some of my equipment and i’m extremely satisfied! I'm looking forward to seeing photos! OCCD! Resistance is Futile! barryg
  2. And Led Zeppelin too! What about strobe lights ? barry
  3. My girlfriend who is NOT an audiophile can hear the vast improvement in vinyl! Barry
  4. Definitely clean new records, second the need from r new sleeves, and yes magic in the grooves!
  5. A good cleaning is a must on all used records imho! If it's real dirty and I don't have an ultrasonic, I pull out the trusty wood glue! It does a great job! All new records go through my spin clean! After i cleaned my new Beatles boxed set , you would be amazed how much crap was at bottom of the tank! Barry
  6. Welcome to CS! BarryG
  7. Awesome! BarryG
  8. Welcome to the site! I also chuckled when I read this! I see OCCD is alive and well! I also traded in my wife! Please post pics of your setup! Barry
  9. Welcome! We would love to see photos, I would also like to hear more about the custom speakers as well! As always; turn it up! Rock the neighborhood! BarryG
  10. Good luck researching! Imho the BillD C-1 is well worth the money, and is the best value for your money. To find equivalent sound quality in a pre amp , you would probably spend 2x or 3x as much! Enjoy it my friend! I keep going back to mine after trying other gear! I have a C-11 with a BillD mod by Dennis! I love it, I am currently using a Carver 900 reciever wile I make a few minor fixes on my C-11. I had distortion in my headphone amp! I will put my c-11 back in service when I get my top cover back from Kevin next week! He took it to Carverfest for the Bobfather to sign! As always enjoy the music! BarryG
  11. In my opinion you can't go wrong with that Combo, I would BillD the C-1 and mkii the m-1.0t! Where the BillD really shines is when using vinyl! I would probably upgrade the amp first, then do the BillD! Enjoy that combo! Barry
  12. Does that include Yoko Ono? lol could not resist asking! BTW listening to Beatles white album today! BarryG
  13. Welcome John! I am glad you found us! We all love audio gear and especially Carver. There is a wealth of information here! Have fun browsing and ask questions! As always! Turn up the volume, kick back, grab a beverage and enjoy the music! BarryG
  14. Good read! I also believe in the healing power of music. It's what keeps me going after my trauma 11 years ago and my recent accident! BarryG
  15. Wave files are not compressed like MP3 files and should yield excellent results! I copy my CDs into wave or HD FLAC files Without loss of quality! BarryG
  16. 2 years ago at Carverfest, Bob told me he highly recommended the C-1 preamp with his tube amps. And for a 2 channel setup the c-1 or c-11 is very hard to beat! In the future I think the bobfather is considering a new tube preamp but not much news on that yet! BarryG
  17. Sounds like Neil ! BarryG
  18. I enjoyed it as well! I remember seeing ELP at Princeton University. Pictures at an Exhibition was absolutely phenomenal! Barry
  19. Too far, Carverfest is about as far as I usually go for audio! I am considering the November Capital Audio Fest if anyone wants to meet there we have lots of time to plan! BarryG
  20. I have refoamed old radio shack realistic t-200 and Mach-2 speakers, kevin is right on. The 15" took longer than the others! This is not my favorite task, but it's not hard! My daughter has these with her realistic sta -2100 receiver! These were in my brother Rich's setup! The super tweeters I gave Dennis Miller a while back were also from this setup! BarryG
  21. I remember this album back in 1967, my brother had it and it blew me away! I wish I knew when they made changes to the album! It seems that the sound of the original had a different mix than the one I bought in 1970 a few years later! The 1967 release had a capital label with a colorful band on outer edge of label, the later one had an Apple label! BarryG
  22. Thanks Mark! I enjoyed that. I played my sgt pepper reissue for my mom while riding on the car, she loved it until the crescendo in 'a day in the life' for some reason that drove her nuts! I have all the beatle albums in the remixed boxed set in 180g; I wonder how it compares to this release! Barryg
  23. Yup, took a wrong turn at Albuquerque! Then found out the answer to "what's up doc?" Is Carver!BarryG
  24. I use my spin clean on all new vinyl! I have also used tergitol on my spin clean with good results! Wood glue if real ugly stuff on record also helps! BarryG
  25. Dang OCCD is strong with this one! Welcome to the site! BarryG
