  1. Here's the Library of Congress procedures for Care, Handling and Storage of Audio Video Materials. The formula for the Tergitol solution is a few pages down under Cleaning Audio Video Materials.
  2. The anthracite on this aluminum anodizing color chart from the 80's might be what Carver used.
  3. Well, there's a wide range of variation amongst Carver anthracite gear, but I think both of those are way too dark. 838383 is a fairly close match to some of my M-500t's but you can't use paint to touch up an anodized faceplate.
  4. The bulk of my very large jazz collection is from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Most of my favorites are on Blue Note, Fantasy (reissued by Prestige and Riverside), Verve, Milestone and Pablo.
  5. Established in 1990, Heads Up International is the contemporary jazz division of the Concord Music Group. Other notable artists include Earl Klugh, Eric Johnson, Fourplay, George Duke, Mindi Adair, Mike Stern and Stanley Clarke.
  6. Sweet! Love the feet too. Brings new meaning to the phrase "on the wings of angels".
  7. Congrats on your one year anniversary, and thanks for being an active participant. Your contributions are appreciated.
  8. Howdy Brian and welcome to the forum. Nice to have you on board. Thanks for introducing yourself. You should fit right in.
  9. Hello again Dingman. We're not gentle, but we are people (well most of us are...). Thanks for the intro. I like your sense of humor and you get a for posting pics without us begging for them.
  10. My first recap was an M-1.5t. I'm just an electronics hobbyist but I did not find it very difficult. I removed the large filter caps to work on the power supply board and stood the amp on one end to do the amp cards
  11. There isn't much to be gained power-wise from MKII'ing an M-1.5t unless you replace the tranny (mag field coil). (The M-4.0t/TFM-4.0/42/45 and PM-1.5(a)/1200/1201 are basically M-1.5t's with larger trannies and more output devices.) M-1.5t M-4.0t/TFM-4.0 TFM-42/45 PM-1.5 (single fan) PM-1.5a/PM-1200 (dual fans) PM-1201
  12. Howdy Chop and welcome to the forum. Great to have you on board! Thanks for the intro and not making us beg for pics!
  13. Howdy Carsten and welcome to the forum. Nice to have you on board.
  14. I did NOT suggest using a y-adapter to interconnect 2 systems, but as a way to twin an output if both were in use. I suggested a line level switcher as an answer to his 2nd question Should be no issues as long as it breaks before makes. I agree that you should use a dedicated sub for each system, however, I doubt you'll find a decent sub for $100.
  15. Glad to hear that you got your preamp working. Most powered subs I've used have a built-in crossover you can feed from a preamp output. If both outputs are already in use split either one with a pair of RCA y-adapters. You'll need a line level switch box with at least 2 pairs of inputs and 1 pair of outputs like the Niles AXP1.
  16. Howdy StevBeggs and welcome to the forum. Nice to have you on board!
  17. Thanks for compiling these tracks for us Randy. Please note that Taking It Home by Buckwheat Zydeco is on the album Taking It Home. I can rip it for you if you can't find it. Just let me know the format you'll be using.
  18. It's a small world eh. By the way, according to this receipt it was actually in Hoffman Estates. I believe they had a 2nd store in Palatine.
  19. I reread your earlier comment Shootr and again got no indication that you were making a joke. Next time I suggest you add a well placed or to prevent another misunderstanding.
  20. Note that standing waves (also known as stationary waves) create areas of decreased sound pressure when they combine out of phase and areas of increased sound pressure when they combine in phase. A node is a point along a standing wave where the wave has minimum amplitude. An anti-node is the point where the wave has maximum amplitude.
  21. Howdy nwinjim and welcome to the forum. Nice to have you on board. Hope you stick around and contribute. We love audio gear porn so please post photos of your gear when you get a chance. I too was introduced to Carver products in the early 80's by a local store (Stereo Studio in Villa Park, IL). I got to know the owner well and eventually worked for him doing commercial audio system installations. This was my system circa 1988:
  22. I need some real help with this as it seems antithetical to any notion I have on creating a clean acoustic environment. I too have issues with Shootr's statement that more power will ameliorate the standing wave problem. Standing waves generally occur within a narrow bandwidth and have double the energy of the music. A well designed parametric EQ will help, but more power will in most cases make it worse. You'd be better served to eliminate the standing wave via judicious use of room treatments.
  23. I somehow missed the announcement that Stanley "Buckwheat Zydeco" Doral passed in September 2016. I saw him play live many times at Fitzgerald's Tavern in Berwyn, IL, about 15 minutes from where I grew up. I suggest including the song 'Taking It Home' on the "gone but not forgotten" disc.
  24. Howdy Abynormal and welcome to the forum. Nice to have you on board. Please tell us more about yourself and your equipment, and post some photos so we don't have to beg you. In the spirit of the late, great William Dibble, several of our techs perform his mods for little more than the cost of parts. That keeps them very, very busy so I suggest you get on someone's schedule as soon as possible.
  25. I'm home pretty much every weekend so y'all are welcome to visit zumbiniland. As for meeting in the DC area, let me know the date and I'll try to work it out.
