There are no dumb questions Billy. (At least that's what I keep telling myself. ) Bridging tends to reduce or smear the soundstage (your mental picture of where the instruments/voices are located). It can also affect how well an amp controls speaker cone excursion which may result in "flabby" (less focused) bass. If you need more power try single channel mode (feed signal to 1 amp channel of each amp; each amp drives 1 speaker). This is called "power steering" and it applies to most common ground amps. Here's an excerpt from the M-1.5t manual:

We have a mix of master techs, junior hobbyists, and folks who enjoy Carver and music but never take the cover off. We have members who are chefs, computer whizzes, mechanics, professional engineers, retirees and salesmen. I'm in the "retired and know enough to be dangerous" category myself. We're a (generally) friendly and helpful group, so grab a beverage, pull up a chair and enjoy yourself!

Howdy Billy and welcome to the forum. Thanks for introducing yourself. The C-19 is an excellent preamp. It's just not as easy to work on, or as well documented, as the C-1/C-11. Have you done any tube rolling or does it still have the original Sovteks? I suspect the problem with your SD/A-360 is either a loose drive belt or a dirty laser lens. Both are easy fixes. Feel free to post photos of your toys. WE LOVE AUDIO GEAR PORN!

Zack gave me this one for Christmas, then surprised me with tickets to see them live at VCU. Reminds me of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band with attitude! Very well recorded.

Howdy and welcome to the forum. Glad you found your way here. Hope you stick around and participate. Don't forget to post some system PIX PLEASE!

There are 22 red LEDs - 6 for signal strength, 13 for station select, 1 for Memory, 1 for tuning lock, 1 for stereo There are also green LEDs for FM and AM (a and b only) and Auto Tuning but I'd leave them the original color.

Howdy 4x4 and welcome to the forum. Nice to have you on board. Do you own any Carver gear? Tell us about your system. Better yet post some photos so we don't have to beg you. Did you see the last episode of Deisel Power?

I remember those days, and I'm glad they are behind me, at least until there are grand kids to worry about.... Good luck with the fix Bryan.

The only photos I've been able to find are of the Phase Linear facility taken in the late 70's. The darker grey roof is the original building, the rest was an addition constructed in 1976. I Binged the address on my Carver equipment boxes and found what looks like an office building (corporate HQ?): Failing to come up with anything else I contacted Mark Cerasuolo, a Carver Corp employee from the late 80's-early 90's. I'm hoping he can provide more info and perhaps some shots of the interior of the manufacturing facility.

As I noted earlier, the AV-806x service manual is available in the CS! library. Click on the hyperlink and scroll down past Phase Linear to the Carver section. The link for service manual is to the schematic diagrams for the unit, not to a service manual Thanks for the heads-up Shamrock. I posted a request to change the title to "schematics and parts list".

Instead of using the "Attach files to this post?" option, try the Insert Image applet. It allows you to upload files as large as 14 MB and displays them at higher resolution. From there you can insert a public link or browse to a file on your hard drive. Once the file has uploaded click OK, then click INSERT.

Congrats on fixing your 806! The service manual is in the CS! library shell. Here's an excerpt that lists the jumper locations:

Kia ora Shamrock! Nice to have you on board the Carver train.

Rolling Stone apparently thinks vinyl is a "fad." Yeah, just another 100 year long fad! While vinyl record sales have risen steadily, they are a drop in the bucket of mid-70's sales, and a small % of total music dollars.

True but unlikely. School, a part time job, and a full time girlfriend are keeping him real busy.

Zack hasn't seen or heard his SDA 1.2tl's since mid-August when he went back to school. Since then I reclothed the grills, sealed the mid surrounds and replaced 4 blown tweeters. I think I'll let him get reaquainted with them for a while before I mention the upgrade Karma

Apparently the Carver Site isn't the only place where awesomeness occurs on a regular basis. I recently received a Christmas Karma for Zack from a group of mostly anonymous PolkAudio members. (I only know that Toolfan66 was involved because he messaged me to ask for my shipping address.) The generous gift includes a full set of "Larry's Rings" (mounting brackets for bolting in the drivers): Also Gimpod boards, ClarityCaps, Jantzen coils and higher tolerance 10 watt MOx resistors to upgrade the XOs: Zack doesn't know yet. I'll probably tell/show him tomorrow night after I pick him up at the airport. Hopefully he'll have time to help me install some of the upgrades while he's home for winter break.
