  1. Catching up on an older movie, starring Miles Teller, Jonah Hill and Bradley Cooper. Based on a Rolling Stone article titled "Arms and the Dudes." which was based on some foundation of a true story... Pretty good entertainment, and fairly accurate description of cluster F@#k's in many places that need cleaned up..., your own observations apply here. I recall a few scary situations like the ones in the movie in foreign lands and am glad to have lived through them..., I even shake my head in wonder..., "how the heck did I get through that?" Missed it when it came out, but had wanted to see it - then time faded the want..., then saw this last night on Netflix. I'm still thinking about it.

    Get Back

I need to stop drinking..., I fell asleep 10 minutes into the first one... I didn't go crazy for the Beatles back then..., or now. I like a lot of their music and can listen to it but am not rabid about any of it. Like @BarryG, My tastes were, and are, still much broader. I'll watch it, so I can check it off, and know what it's all about, but won't watch it twice.
  3. Welcome, @Dhorvat. Glad you found us. When you can, please post pics of your gear ! We love pictures. What Carver units do you have today? Glad to have you here - stay a while and enjoy the Carver energy here.
  4. Welcome @Charles May, glad you found us. Welcome to the Carver Party...,
  5. Don't forget about "hesitation's" twin sister, "regret." She (regret) is more dominating and longer-lasting than "hesitation." At this point, I'll just say it..., do like @2chGearBuff's son so plainly stated..., "Get them," enjoy them, your wife may also like them (there's always a chance)... and know that you can always flip them. If you don't, you'll spend your days searching for a similar deal.., which likely won't come around again..., for years..., if at all, or you'll pay even more for a lesser pair. Don't let "regret" get you for the remainder of your days..., do it, do it now... We've all seen your listening room, and in the corners (where Klipsch often seem to like being placed) you can squeeze them in. I have a friend who owns several car dealerships, and he never "hesitates"..., see's something, and he has the means to pick it up. He has a pair of solid black walnut clad La Scalas..., they sound wonderful driven by a pair of Cary tube amps..., 😉 You know already these will do the same. I picked up (totally unrelated) a Kubota compact tractor, front end loader, 3pt with PTO last summer, my wife came with me to look at it, and even helped me pick it up..., she had no interest, but saw the great joy it was going to bring me..., to have a machine that could really do the kind of work I've always done back-breakingly, with a pick and shovel..., several thousand bucks into it, space in the garage putting one vehicle out in the weather..., and all that..., She saw the joy on my face..., your wife may see that too, and really fall in love with La Scala's as they bring you joy from those 8 years you had before with the same speakers. It could happen! Enabling arguments are always so positive !! LoL!
  6. welcome to the site, @mjb112, glad you found us. Lots of threads on integrating lots of varieties of gear, here..., the SEARCH function is pretty powerful, and offers Boolean operators to help you narrow down your search. However, it's an art, AND the permutations are endless, in this hobby. Share a little about your system, components, and what you are trying to assemble, and there may be some wisdom from a member that can help directly. Do this by starting a new thread in a category that is close to what you are doing..., Amps, Pre's, AV's, Processors, etc. The site is pretty well organized. And, we LOVE pictures..., as a newbie, you need a few more folks to "like" or "thank" react to your posts and the ability to upload pictures will present itself... Welcome again, and Glad you found us!!
  7. Watched this from Amazon Studios, last night. slow at first, but once you settle in, it unfolds..., having gone through similar things the main character goes through, both literally and figuratively (not for writing down here)..., this movie kept me up most of the night thinking about it, and reliving my own casket-side experience. One can and likely will pick up widely varying and different messages - depending on your perspective and experience. I do think it is worth watching, if nothing else, to get more people thinking, who have forgot. Starring Steve Carell, Laurence Fishburne, and Brian Cranston, cameo with Cicely Tyson. Basic story is the unique and unlikely rekindled relationship between three Vietnam war veterans, that all had different post war paths. In the movie, from the first scene we learn their time when deployed in Asia was marked by some bad things they even did to each other. The time period of the movie is 2003, timed with the capture of Saddam Hussain in the spider hole - many of us lived then, and may recall/relate to sentiment then. The setting for the movie is back in the US where it all comes together (reunites them) when Steve Carell's son is killed in Baghdad and is on his way back through Dover Air Base. The rest you'll have to watch the movie - on Amazon. Some may be uncomfortable with this movie. The characters develop in especially interesting ways that for me dug up some things, made me rethink some things, and poured salt and acid on some memories. I'm sure your experience will be different as we are all different. It's on Amazon Prime and available for pay per view on YouTube.
  8. Wow, that's a nice set up. You really do fit in with this group. And, when it comes to LEDs, just like music, it's personal preference. Red is cool.

  14. Could be labor to process the orders..., build the kits/products/parts, or could also be supply chain caused material shortage.
  15. Welcome to the site, @pserci Glad you found us! Love italy, and italian speakers..., Looking forward to your contributions..., and post a picture of your rig when you can..., we love pictures.
  16. Welcome @nautinut. You have found the right place... We have a few members from Italy - some quite active. Always great to have people join from around the globe. When you do your BillD, please start a thread documenting your experience. Add to the value of the site, and do a little bragging !! 😉 Sonic Holography is great - and your ears will be the final judge!. BTW, I love italian speakers, I have Sonus Faber set up that is incredible..., I've been looking for the Sonus Faber Gravis-1 subwoofer for years..., hard to find, impossible to find, in the US..., one day, I'll find one in Italy... shipping will kill me, but then I will feel complete. Owning Carver is also like that..., we call it OCCD. Obsessive Carver Collecting Disorder..., after hanging out here for a while, you will eventually be bitten, and will try a Carver Amp..., and then there's no turning back. 😉 Glad you found us! stay and enjoy the value of the community.
  17. If you are about my age..., (guess)..., and you went to a lot of bars in your early 20's, and saw a lot of bands try to do Stones and Zeppelin..., you heard a lot of bad, maybe really bad, covers... Compare that memory, to Miley and her band doing Black Dog... Huge difference... much better..., (plus a production and show, around it).
  18. Like her or not..., Miley Cyrus has incredible vocal range, and talent across multiple genre's. This cover is as haunting as the original..., From the Howard Stern show, cover starts at about 2:20 if you are impatient... Here's a live version..., Miley with her band. It shows the vocals starting an octave higher, in contrast with the video above on Howard Stern..., "her vocal range..." just scary good.
  19. Got to www.JimClarkStereo.com Jim Clark Stereo , here in Rockford, IL, USA. Jim is a member here, and a super great guy. He's a personal friend of Bob Carver's, and a dealer for the current line of Carver Tube Amps. I know he ships all over the world, successfully. Contact him through the contact-page on that website..., ask about what it takes to ship a 275 to Australia... He's a straight shooter, and will give you facts. Then, you will precisely know what you have to save up for..., and it won't feel like the lottery ! 😉
  20. Welcome to the site. We LOVE pictures ! I have the Marantz 5014, and it gets wonky when hot..., I run it through carver amps, using it only as an AV preamp.
  21. I'm not sure if Bob Carter was the first to say this..., I say it every day... (usually to myself as I walk away...)
  22. And, how does it sound, fresh back from Roland? Super good, I bet !
  23. Nice set-up..., like that sliding barn-door hardware on your cabinet. What speakers are you driving with which amps in this rig?
