I would like to recommend The Sound Of Freedom as a fantastic film that is well worth your time.

As the film has somehow become “political” (How opposition to child trafficking can become a political issue is beyond my comprehension), I will unfortunately have to refrain from any details or trailers - but I reiterate that it is well worth your time….

If you are even remotely connected to current events, then you've no doubt heard the kerfuffle over The Terminal List on Amazon Prime.  Having watched it, I sincerely can't figure out what the progressive left's problem with this series is.  Rotten Tomatoes (which used to be a reliable source for ratings, but now is in-step with the woke Hollywood narrative) rating tells you exactly what you need to know - 39% from "critics" and 95% from the audience.  I'm guessing that they have "targeted" it because of Chris Pratt and the fact that they despise him for rejecting wokism?

Anyway, the series is spectacular!  Even though it could be classified as a "revenge thriller", it exhibits enough unique elements to make it fresh.  The story is compelling and fast paced (I burned through the first 3 episodes on my first sitting, and I rarely binge).  The characters are well thought-out and interesting.  If you've ever watched a Jason Bourne film and wished for a little (or a lot) more emotional buy-in with the characters, then this is for you.  The tactical acumen is spot on (the EFP weapon deployment was a thing of beauty) and the attention to detail is perfect.  Believability with regards to the realism of physical ability and the effects of physical damage are also very accurate - This is not a "Rambo" film, lol.  The story is fast paced, yet detailed and nuanced at the same time.  It has some very touching moments, and some very satisfying payoffs.

I cannot recomend this series highly enough.  Should you happen to watch it, please post your impressions, and also let me know if you can find what the progressives distain so much here...

Mark, I see nothing wrong with it, but if you want it hidden, I can make it happen.

Thanks for sharing your movie recommendation with us. It's always a pleasure to discover new films to watch. "Devotion" sounds intriguing. I'm a big fan of movie discussions, so if you ever come across any other films that leave an impression, please do share. It's through these recommendations that we often stumble upon hidden cinematic gems that might have otherwise gone unnoticed.
As for me, I'm looking forward to checking out some of the movies currently in theaters. There's something special about the big screen experience that streaming just can't replicate. If you have any suggestions or if you're planning to catch a particular film soon, let me know.

A US Army special forces unit is ambushed during a mission to retrieve an intelligence asset and their only remaining hope lies with a remote Air Force drone operator assisting them through a brutal 48-hour battle for survival.

I don't care if people don't like or do like, Rambo movies.

I for one, like them, and am looking forward to the next one, with this concept trailer..., some say the role get's handed off to rotating actors..., a la James Bond?  The point being that audiences are not yet done with Rambo, and their desire for another in the series - even if Stallone wants to get out of the franchise..., or is too old for it, or..., Time gets everything, eventually.

Seeing @AndrewJohn's suggestion of Spaghetti Westerns got me thinking about some of the classic ones, but then I thought, no, this is one of the few movies I will always tune in, if it happens to be playing:

This is a perfect example of how "nobody is safe" from the hilarious barbs of Mel Brooks' humour.  It's also a movie that could never be made in this day and age - it's as far from politically correct as you can get, but Brooks targets everyone equally.  Every time I watch it, there's something new that I see to laugh at.  A guilty pleasure, to say the least.   :D

Went to see Blazing Saddles at Radio City Music Hall in NYC.  To top it off Mel Brooks came out for a Q&A afterwards.  An amazing evening!

And, for 2025, another James Bond is coming..., ?

Or?

For the longest time I knew Hugh Grant as the kitschy rom-com actor, and I never gave him much thought (except for Love, Actually - the most guy-watchable rom-com of all time).

However - I saw him in last year’s Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre with Jason Statham, and I have to say, Hugh Grant flat out stole the show. His dialogue and delivery were marvelous, and he played the creepy billionaire perv perfectly.

Then, my son drags me to see Heretic the other night, and again, I’m treated to a master-class performance by Hugh Grant. The movie itself is pretty mid, but Grant’s performance was spectacular.

I now find myself optimistically anticipating his next role, and wondering WHY he waited until so late in his career to treat us to this level of acting…?

We did Die Hard last night in the re-born theater room. Sad how many of the film’s stars are no longer with us - Hans, Karl, Theo, Takagi, Dwayne, Gail and Franco.

RIP to you all - you created an indelible piece of American entertainment that will live on forever.

Don't forget Vaughn Monroe for a great rendition of Let It Snow.

While watching Lethal Weapon, keep in mind that member fxbill did some of those explosions and gunfire.

Thank you for that reminder. I'll be watching that one later today.

Jamie Lee Curtis topless is a nice Christmas bonus too. :D

Christmas is over..., and, last night I did some movie binge catchup..., two worthless ones (new one with Bill Murray, new one with Jean Claud Van Damm...) which I already forgot the titles of..., waste of time.

But this one, was pretty intriguing, albeit filmed on the usual low-budget iphone approach to new releases.

The Bricklayer, on Netflix.  Ex CIA agent called back into a multi-twist plot where the world is blaming the US for global destabilizing covert activity... that can cause WWIII.   Directed by same director as Die Hard 2, and Cliff Hanger.

There’s something about a good “true story” (or even “based on a true story”) film that I really enjoy.  Somehow, watching the plot/events unfold and knowing that they really happened adds a weight and enjoyment to the film.  And when the story is of significant interest, and the film well enough made, I come away with the name of the “character” and story indelibly etched in my memory.

Such is the case with Wladyslaw Szpilman of The Pianist, Ken Miles of Ford vs Ferrari, Gary Gordon & Randy Shughart from Blackhawk Down, Philippe Petit from The Walk - these are stories and names I will never forget.

Last night I added another name to the list - Nicky Winton.  If you’ve never heard this name, don’t feel bad - I had never heard of him either.  But I will never forget his name after watching “One Life”.  A heartwarming, yet profoundly sad story of one man’s refusal to stand by and do nothing. Nicky and his collaborators accomplished heroic feats through sheer will and determination.  I highly recommend you give this film 2 hours of your time - you will never forget it.

Noryang: Deadly sea.  I read a brief synopsis on the battle and the movie pretty much stuck to the history line

it is set in the 1598 at the end of the 7 year Japanese invasion of the Korean Peninsula and the ensuing naval battle

this is part 3 of a series, I didn’t realize that until I googled the movie after watching it.  It stands on its own IMHO. My only gripe is the 1598’s Korean warships were comical in their acceleration (jet powered oars I think)

enjoyed every minute of this one
