  1. So first, it poured rain here Tuesday and today (Thursday), but yesterday (Wednesday) was PERFECT - blue skies and clear. It was a beautiful drive. And I called the seller (Karen) when I got into town. She gave me directions to her house, which happened to be on the market for 1.7mil. I’d say about 8,000 sq/ft on 3 acres that backs up to wetlands. Incredible. In the course of our conversation, I found out her husband left her, and she has to sell the house and most everything in it:-( after I got the sub loaded up, I spent a little over an hour helping her take photos and giving her descriptions and prices to list everything from speakers (Theil), amps (Adcom), Preamp (Lexicon), DVD player and wires. She was greatful for the help, and I felt better about giving so little for the sub. Driving home, I realized that much of my gear has a “ story”, and now this sub does too. It made it home in perfect shape - thank you all for the suggestions! I hooked it up tonight, and all I can say is HOLY SHIT. Seriously. I played some Deadmou5 (what else?) and I had it set at “35” out of “100”. It was violently glorious. This is going to be a good relationship...?? Its sitting next to the 12” DD12 in the photos...?

  2. "It was one of those nights when you turned out the lights, and everything comes into view. She was taking her time, I was losing my mind, there was nothing that she wouldn't do. It wasn't the first first, it wasn't the last, she knew we was making love. I was so satisfied, deep down inside, like a hand in a velvet glove. Seems like a touch, a touch too much."

  9. As a FYI there is another member from here in your backyard (also in NC IIRC) Sea, who has also repaired ribbons in the past. He uses a diff material but it’s been heard, touched and signed off in by Bob Carver. Might be another option for you once they comeback

  18. Well, I got home from being on the road and my wife presented me with a nice surprise. My 50th birthday request: Dido "life for rent" on vinyl. This is a hard album to find so the value has gone up as mentioned in this thread earlier. The icing on the cake is that she purchased the Michael Hobson numbered copy edition. These apparently were some of the first stamper edition copy's which were pressed, numbered, and added to his collection from the Classic Records pressing machines. Not sure how true it is but according to folklore: "Hobson, insisted on the “best copies” from the “sweet spot” of the pressing run for his personal archive of 5 numbered copies of each release! It is reported that Hobson personally selected the copies of the records that went into his archive by listening to 1st stamper pressings to determine when the “stamper” was in the “sweet spot” and pressing the best sounding records during the run. Further, these records have not been moved from Hobson’s own climate controlled air-conditioned storage for all these years." I must admit, it does sound great. Better than regular pressings? Who knows. But it's a birthday present I'll always cherish. Thank you honey!
