Hi all, I just joint the site and want to say hello to everyone. I love the Carver audio gear and always want to learn more about Carver Audio. Thanks,7 points

Greetings, Came here looking for information and insight on the Carver TFM-35x Amplifier. Considering a re-cap on my original, 1995 device which triggers the protect mode cycle at only about 25-35% volume. A service manual would certainly be helpful, if there is such.4 points

Hello. I was there to see that collection at Barry's and helped with some pricing the best I could. Where is the collection, now located?4 points

Hello my name is Rebecca Baldwin. Many of you knew my Uncle Barry Galvin who passed away last May. I'm here posting on behalf of his whole family we want to thank all of you for your support for him throughout his life he always spoke highly of of the friendships he had among his fellow Carver aficionados. I know that your collective love of music and sound kept his spirit going. We all miss him dearly but are glad he is no longer suffering. Although we are all still grieving for our loss we are working on sorting out his collection of sound equipment and electric parts. If it is ok with the admins I was hoping to post a list of the items in his collection to sell on the site. We want if possible for them to go to people who can use, fix and enjoy them. As you know Barry left behind one daughter Melissa and 2 grandsons Jacob and Jeremiah, money from the sale of the items will go to help them. Again thank you all for being there for Barry we really appreciate it. Thank you, Rebecca3 points

BobTFM35. I posted the picture of my old systems with TFM45 paired with Amazing Original. This combination of Amazing Original and TFM45 seems like not enough low end like the AL3+ that why I trade them with my friend for Amazing Silver and M1.5t. This combination sound better but now my M1.5t Protection LED light up with meter LEDs blinking not able to turn on. Currently I am using Yamaha P2201 to power the Amazing Silver but still want to get the M1.5t back to listening. Thanks,3 points

This is the traceability issue with having many past licensed owners and the reason the Black Magic products, we hoped to continue, must end. The Crimson 275s were built in 3 locations. I have record keeping from none of them. Printed serial number stickers are easy to duplicate. The liability and warranty coverage became uncalculatable. Our warranties are long and iron clad. Many have expired by now. The products have proven very reliable. With Bob Carver LLC. and BC Audio LLC. founded by Bob, Peggy, Lerma and myself, we know our customers directly and we know our liabilities. We continue to update Crimson 275s from past companies at no charge in good faith. We offer service through our authorized service centers for Carver designed products going back to 1970. The RAM 285 is our first product. It will take us forward from here.3 points

Appologies to using your thread BriConAir but I just joint the Carver site and not allow to start new thread. I have the Carver PM1.5T and 1 fan broken the blade. Where can I find the replacement? Thanks,3 points

Welcome to the site, @SWBoss, glad you found us. this is the place with lots of information. I had a TFM-35x as one of my first amps. Great little amp. Did you check the Manuals Library for the service manual? Check out the menu at the top of the home page, click on manuals, and you should find it there.3 points

Gotta love Kim Deal on bass, and vocals, here. She showed up to audition for the Pixies as a bass player without even bringing a bass guitar with her because she had never played bass before.2 points

I have no experience related to your situation and the following are questions to maybe help in diagnose of the problem. What ohm speakers are you using? Their max power rating? Speaker wire connections for loose strands touching each other. Length and gauge of the wire? The above may or may not have any connection, I just thought I would ask to eliminate items that are easier to look at.2 points

It would have to be some material that doesn't shed any lint or particulates on its own. I'm thinking something like a black, thick Tyvek?2 points

I fixed it for you. If you're not happy with the change, just let me know how you want it.2 points

I think it's a great idea but I like looking at my M500t even when it's not being used. Can't get enough of the big meters. 😀2 points

I have each of my Carver amps and preamps on individual shelves of my Sonus racks. They are not stacked. I like the idea of having component covers for my C-1, C-16, M1.0t, TFM-55 with a Carver logo embossed on the front....at an affordable price 😄2 points

^This. Not someone trying to take advantage of our mutual grief. This is my cousin. I give her great respect, she was able to post on here what I could not bring myself to do. In regards to the equipment for sale if she is allowed to post, I will be going up in a few weeks to retrieve my dad's car and empty the storage unit. There. Are. Many. MANY. Pieces of equipment. Whatever is sold or spoken for, I will mail personally when I get up there in town so that my cousin does not have to. Anything that does not sell will be sold at a local electronics shop. I will hate doing that, but I cannot afford to keep the storage unit. Nor do I have space for it at my home in Tennessee. I would much rather all of his equipment go to y'all in his favorite community. Buying in bulk is also an option if you live close enough to pick it up. Thanks so much. ❤️ Melissa2 points

Thanks for the kind welcomes. Having no prior Carver repair experience, I'm interested in opinions of those with said experience and suggestions as to behavior causes for such a protect cycle on this model. As mentioned, the amp triggers the protect mode cycle at about 25-35% volume. The power meters (built-in Watts - Level dB) appear to be normal and typical. I have yet to nu-install the unit and open it up. Thanks,1 point

@SWBoss Welcome to the Carver Site. Searching in the manuals section of the site will give you a service manual for your 35x. It will have several pages of schematics and I think a BOM of parts. Good luck with the repair of your 35x.1 point

This is from my drafts from earlier today, lol-- As far as pricing goes, @kve777 came down and helped us price and assess value in person shortly before Dad passed. We have his estimates and tons of photographs. Testing can probably be done upon request with the system I set aside for myself. (truly depends on my housing situation while I'm up there and who I'm staying with). I've sold to AJ and to one other, though the other picked his up in person so I didn't have to package it. I'm pretty sure there's considerable packing supplies in the storage unit, though @RebeccaB is the one who can confirm or deny that. As for Bob Carver, himself, I know Dad knew him. He took great pleasure and pride in that. It was the humble kind of pride. Like, excited beyond belief when Bob talked to him. I was not able to keep his phone when I came home after he passed, so I was not able to get a message to Bob about his passing. Though he did mention that Bob was aware of the inevitable outcome. He said they shared some very deep and intimate moments. I was always awed that he was able to find a friend in such a passionate person who made things that Dad himself was so very passionate about. I have a very old radio tuner/Amp (I think) from the 70s that belonged to my late Uncle Rick. Pretty sure it's a Carver. it's in my shed right now cuz I don't have speakers atm, but Still works. Dad gave it to me almost 20 years ago. When it starts to go, you know this will be the first place I come for how/where to fix it. It means a lot to me. It's one of the few things I have from uncle Rick. ^^ That's where I left off, sorry I can't remember what else i was going to say! Edit: I don't know how it changed colors but i can't seem to fix it. sorry.1 point

I've used those covers on my tube amps. I don't like them. They start smoking after just a few minutes... What? Off when you use the amps? Never Mind!1 point

Thanks! I'm very happy with this receiver. It has really curbed my thirst for buying more receivers. I picked it up for $600. The protection circuit would randomly engage. Turned out to be a bad zener diode on the protection board. After the repair I did a full recap and replaced known faulty transistors. It sounds amazing to my ears. It is rated at 85w/ch which is way more than I ever use.1 point

Great idea. some simple percale, flannel, or even terry or light material (like what bed sheets are made of, for the top, sides, and back of the cover. The front might be something more interesting like quilted or? to dress up the background of the Bob Carver logo. ...in thinking about this - the back needs some flexibility stretch or elasticity, to deal with all the cabling and rats-nests we have acrued over the years.1 point

I'd be interested in covers assuming reasonable pricing. In my mind, they wouldn't need to be anything fancy. Just a light cloth shield (that's washable) to keep dust at bay. Up here in the northeast it's not uncommon for homes to have forced hot-air heating. No matter how many filters are installed, it seems dust gets evenly distributed everywhere. And it's worse if you have pets. And regarding stacking, I'm re-thinking that. I have always stacked/racked my equipment - probably a holdover from my radio/recording studio days, but I keep thinking about a 2" floating walnut or cherry shelf where I could see/display the pieces. I think it would look striking. So a cover for the amp(s) and preamp would be a nice-to-have.1 point

It's been an exceptional experience and pleasure to have had Barry as part of this community. Spending time on the phone with him during the final weeks, for me, is only exceeded by meeting first Melissa @Eliothei, and now you, @RebeccaB It's interesting to see his legacy and connections continue. And you both are welcome here, anytime to share memories and/or grieve as a part of the community. Barry knew, and spoke with Bob Carver himself, as he had that relationship. Bob called him in the hospital as coordinated with @Ar9Jim at the time. While Bob is not a member of this site as he is too busy - know that the connection Barry had with Bob Carver and this community rand very very deep. He's missed. As for your question, Yes, the FS/WTB forum is the right place. Typically, when selling a list of gear, and this is my suggestion, to simplify it for you and Melissa, Please inventory a list of the gear, Carver and non-carver that you want to list here. Put that list in one thread, title it appropriately as Barry's Estate Sale or ? We have a method for sending Private Messages on the forum. Invite people to send you PM's (see the little "letter mail" icon at the top right of the screen) In your thread, invite people to show interest in some pieces by private message. Private messages can be sent to both you and Melissa, if you like - in the To field, two addresses can be added. Then, as you sell an item, I suggest you post an updated list periodically maybe daily, as things sell, annotating the items that you sold. by putting SOLD after the line item in the list. Please just ask if I'm not clear above. I think this is the best way to avoid confusion (PM's will reduce super long threads) and effort to post separate items in separate threads. It is how others have done this in the past, as well (e.g., @Rob is moving soon, and liquidated much gear this way. You can also "bump" a post if activity declines (we'll watch for that too, to keep it active). Great to hear from Barry's family, you are part of this Carver community now, too. Just ask, if I can help..., I may be interested in some items Barry told me about in the back of his closet. And, as Melissa knows, I have a Turntable from his collection that I enjoy. 😉 One last thing, if you need ideas on pricing, please just ask - it is subjective, of course, and dependent on condition. Most here are fair people - and would want to help Melissa and her family.1 point

Selling that equipment is no small task. Testing, cleaning, packing and shipping will take time. Packing in particular can be challenging. UPS and Fedex will pack things, but they are expensive and often do a poor job. Feel free to post anything you have. Offering it for local pickup will help. I know Barry had a lot of nice stuff.1 point

So do I, and I feel safe saying that all of us here do too. Thank you for dropping in, letting us know about your intentions with Barry's gear, and I offer you prayers to find peace with your grief.1 point

Welcome to the site. Like @3M_Audio said, a LOT of info is available here on the site under "Manuals and Specsheets". Check with Greg at nelionaudio.com. He owns this site and can also be reached via PM at @Nahash5150. I know he had quite a few several years ago.1 point
