  1. Welcome to the group, Michael. Great system, and congrats on the new listening room! If you are inclined towards a C1 or C11, consider @kve777's offer. If you want it upgraded, and Kevin isn't inclined, you could probably have him send it directly to Greg, at Nelion, or one of the other great techs, here. For now, enjoy the music!
  2. I think one of the things that irks me about this is that it WAS known. I remember hearing about the fire, at the time, and that tapes were lost. They just didn't acknowledge the extent of what was lost - until recently. They didn't deny it, but they simply weren't forthcoming with the information on what was lost. Part of that was the fear of the lawsuits they would get (and are, now getting), and part of it as their sloppy record keeping which meant they didn't know how bad the losses were. Many of those tapes were not actually owned by them but had been entrusted to them for safe keeping i a proper protected vault. We will never even know what many of the older tapes were that were lost. Only the "relatively" recent ones. ?
  3. What's so scary about this is how long it took for the actual impact to really become public. What's also sad is that there appears to be no good record of what was lost.
  4. I'm partial to Heavy metal Polka myself! ? (Someone once asked if we could play music over th P.A. at work, so the question of what type came up. That was my answer, which ended to whole affair). As for yodeling, I do have multiple copies of Focus' Hocus Pocus. I'll leave the rap to you, @Dennis47 ...
  5. Welcome, from another relative newcomer, @dr. underhill. Sounds like a very nice setup. When you have time to settle in, let us know you musical interests. No worries, whatever they are - you'll find people here who like every genre, so all tastes are welcome!
  6. I'll wager, in reality, it would be Ms. Piggy (and yes, the Ms. was for my own safety) would be selling frogs-legs.
  7. Just for giggles, and after looking at your list, Ray, I'll say it's The Boss you haven't seen. (Good luck @dcl).
  8. Thought I'd finish this and let Ray take things with his list. It's actual Genesis that I've never seen. The closest I've been is having seen Mike and the Mechanics twice. And yes, I did get to see Simon and Garfunkel, who were great, but the venue sucked - it was a stadium, where every bit of sound bounced of the scoreboard giving a terrible echo.
  9. Sorry Ray, I've seen Boston twice.
  10. Nice try @dcl - and touche for the video, but I did actually Ambrosia at a casino venue several years ago. They were a group I didn't think I'd ever have the chance at seeing, so it was a lucky thing - that's the only luck I use at a casino since I find gambling totally boring. Getting close. Next?!

  12. No I've seen Yes about 4 times. They were actually who APP were opening for.
  13. @#$%!!!! Okay, here's one more - that means there could be 2 that I'm lying about - you only need to get one lie right. Simon and Garfunkle BZZZT - you lose! Saw them a few years ago as an opener for someone. The main act in that show was just a bonus for me - my wife and I got tickets because of APP. Sadly it was after the passing of Eric Woolfson, but Alan Parson's voice was great.
  14. Wow! I figured that would be too easy to be true (caveat - I am decidedly a Vangelis fan , but I haven't seen him). All one concert, eh? That sounds like it was quite the show. Okay, here goes: Yes Alan Parsons Project Boston Genesis Ambrosia Tag, you're it, folks.
  15. @itchitch I'm betting this is wrong, simply because it's so different from the rest of you list: Vangelis @dcl I'll have you know I can't get that "Would I lie to you" earworm out of my head, thanks to you! The only thing that makes it tolerable are the visions of Anne Lennox that accompany it.
  16. I'll take a stab at it with Van Halen. ?
  17. No matter which, it's totally cool. Love your innovation. ?

    Chernobyl

I have to wonder if such a disaster were to happen in a western nation if we would have the cajonas to evacuate a city and designate it an exclusion zone, and not let anyone back in? I wonder if we could react fast enough to limit the number of people who would die from radiation? Perhaps we would, I just don't know, and I hope we never find out.
  19. OLD FOLKS HOME On her first day at the senior complex, the new manager addressed all the seniors pointing out some of her rules: "The female sleeping quarters will be out-of-bounds for all males, and the male dormitory to the females. Anybody caught breaking this rule will be fined $20 the first time. She continued, "Anybody caught breaking this rule the second time will be fined $60. Being caught a third time will cost you a fine of $180. Are there any questions?" At this point, an older lady named Alice stood up in the crowd and inquired: "How much for a season pass?”

    Chernobyl

At the time Chernobyl happened, before anything had been announced, my brother-in-law who had studied nuclear engineering called us and said that there had clearly been a meltdown, somewhere in Europe. He had seen the radiation numbers spike and was able to figure out approximately where it was. He actually managed to figure out that it was likely Chernobyl that had booked off. Sadly, there have been quite a few meltdowns through the years, and yes, there were some incredible, unsung heroes at the Chernobyl disaster. Given that I live only a couple of kilometers from one of Canada's larger sites, I'm clearly not one to dwell on possible disasters.
  21. Nah, that's only a blackfly. And a young one, at that.
  22. Zack has great taste. That was very enjoyable. Thanks very much for suggesting it.
  23. Welcome @Bradrock - the site should be reasonably fast. It can take a moment sometimes if there's a lot to show - especially if you are following a lot of things, but it should be quite reasonable to use. Don't worry if you missed one C1, I'm sure there will be others coming up. Hide your wallet when browsing, here - OCCD is real (trust me, I've fallen into the abyss, since joining). That said, the value for what you wind up with is incredible.
  24. Welcome Drew. You've found the right place for help and guidance on bringing those units back to life. I'll defer to the numerous folks who know their way around the insides of electronic devices, but you should be able to find help and guidance at every level, here.
