  1. Yeah, along with a ton of time to rewrite the whole thing into something more than HTML 0.9.
  2. Interesting? I'll go play around with it. I have that installed, but I typically use Opera, FF and Chrome. Kewl - nice to know what the root cause was, in case others get caught. Thanks!!!
  3. Okay, @Sk1Bum - here are 4 different variations of the Carver image I have. These were all made with different s/w and I varied options to try to dumb down the image. Option 1: Option 2: Option 3: Option 4: Do ANY of these load for you?
  4. Oddly enough, Greg, when he clicks on them they open. I'll see if I can regenerate them with some other s/w. I think I used Photoshop to make them, but if I open and save them in something else, perhaps it will help. Or maybe he just doesn't like hedgehogs... 😊
  5. I have no idea why @Sk1Bum - even if I connect from a different PC as a guest user, it appears when I look, and according to others I've talked with, these pics work for them. You "seem" to be the only one that isn't having any luck - at least you are the only one who comments you can't see it, and for you, it seems to be consistent. What browser do you use? I can try to set up a test that mimicks what you are doing to see if I can cause things to hiccup and then figure out what to do. Perhaps there's something specific in just the settings I have for the images that is requiring you to expicitly load them, but to be honest, they should be pretty simple. Any luck on this one: The link is just this: http://www.hedgehoghollow.com/CBang/Carver.jpg The actual HTML is really simple. It does set a size and an alternate image - which I expect is what you see - just he little glyph that shows it's not loaded. Do other images that are 'linked' show for you?
  6. Welcome to this group, corkdust. It's nice to see some folks from the other Carver group finding their way here! No talent, bad sense of humour, and ad timing are all I can offer on my part, but others here will ore than make up for that on all fronts.
  7. I always turn my gear off when done. I use a Device that detects when my Preamp turns on, then does a graduated power-on of the rest of my gear. That makes it easier to turn things on and off. As for the lightning strike issue, I had a whole house surge protector installed a few years ago, after a strike the street over from me - destroyed everything electrical or electronic wound up on the curb. I do worry about heat over time, which is why I do like turning things off. Funny enough, I do exactly the opposite for computers - I never turn them off. 😏
  8. VERY nice system. Great to see Phase Linear gear being enjoyed.
  9. Welcome aboard, Scott! What brings you to us, other than perhaps a touch of shared insanity?
  10. Charlie, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that one!
  11. Welcome to the site - you certainly know how to enter the Carver world in style - very nice addition. As others have already noted, you are definitely in the right place to find expertise in getting those amps tuned up to the best state possible - and a fantastic state that is, with those. When you do have a moment, let us know a bit more about what you are feeding into them, and what you are driving with them. And when you can, pictures are always appreciated! For now, it's great to have you aboard, and remember to enjoy the music! 🙂
  12. Welcome to the group! Sorry that capacitor decided to do an "exit stage right" on you. Hopefully that's all that checked out on you. You may want to ponder replacing the others before too far into the future. There are certainly plenty of folks, here, who can help guide you, and worst case help fix things. I can't help on the local side (I'm foreign to you), but hopefully someone local will pipe up.
  13. Welcome to the group. Sunfire lovers definitely belong here belong here - you'll find yourself in very good company. There are lots of options with respect to repairs for your gear. Distance for shipping may be one of the biggest factors - Sunfire gear isn't going to fit into an envelope and take a basic stamp, to ship. The good thing is that there are options so getting it fixed is certainly doable. Like others here I can attest to Greg at Nelion's repair talents, but the key is your comfort in whose fingers reach inside your systems. For now, relax, and perhaps send us some pictures of your rig when you can. And enjoy the music.
  14. I definitely can't fault your taste in equipment or music. I have to agree, I became quite addicted to PT a number of years, ago. Always a pleasure to listen to.
  15. Welcome to the group! That's a great into to carver gear! Let us know a bit more about the rest of your system, and when you get a few posts under your belt, we'd love some pictures of it. One great thing about the Carver equipment is that it was designed to be maintainable, unlike the systems being produced, today. Given your avatar, I can see you have great taste in music! That, too will fit in here, really well.
  16. Welcome to the group! Unfortunately, for you (or, perhaps not) I'm nowhere close to you, but I'm sure there are some folks here, who are. As Itchitch noted, there used to be a map, but I suspect it got lost in the transition to a new server some time back, so your shout out is probably the best way to find out who's in the RIchmond area. In the mean time, let us know a bit about you and your interests, and perhaps when you get that far some pictures of your system would be great. And as always - enjoy the music!
  17. So you, too, are highly resistant? What's the project? 😎
  18. Wow - that is an amazing collection, and system! Thanks for sharing. Moving those cable bundles outside the cabinet makes complete sense, and has the bonus of freeing slots for a couple more decks. I suspect most of us would have to claim that our system's are a work in progress. Yours just has more of a (temporary?) end in sight. Good luck with it all, and enjoy the music while you do.
  19. Thanks for the offer, Mark - and to others who have offered the same, BTW. Right now, there is literally a negative amount of space in my cabinet for equipment. I have 3 new devices sitting there, ready to go in, if I ever get a day off: A replacement DPL-33 (my current one is doing a lot of snap, crackle, and pop, in the rear speakers) - getting a new one was cheaper than getting it fixed. This will at least fit. Oh, and I DID change the 9v battery in it! ) A DTL unit, which shouldn't take any space, but takes more than I have, and, A H-9AV so that I most different flavours of SH all available to try, now (nope, no OCCD here! ). Again, no space for this and I'd need access to the controls. As it is my gear has overflowed onto the wall unit, beside the stereo cabinet, and filled that, too. Also, since my current CD player is a recorder that I do use (trying to record much of my LP collection), I'm not willing to just yank it out. A SCCD capable CD player is more of a longer term goal for me. I need to see how I can possibly re-arrange gear to accomidate things better. And truth be told, I DO have a SCCD capable Sony in my HT system, and I could run a digital link from it. But that just isn't the right solution.
  20. Ah yes, the wonderos OPPO's - everyone, here, seems to tout them as being about the best. That $400 unit that Jeffs bought would come in, shipped, about $700-$800+ for me (shipped), which is why I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. The other thing I have to watch out for is the newer ones are digital only output. That means I need a pretty darn good DAC to run them through or all the nice sound will be readily converted to @#$%. That's going to tack on a few more shekles to the cost. I "do" have a DAC, but it's at the level of "proves the digital output is there." And as fantastic a job as Mark did on my C1, it doesn't appear to have a Bob Carver designed DAC built into it. Still, I may indulge and pick up one or more of the SACD's being mentioned - just to have them for that day.
  21. Damn, Mark and Kevin - you know how to hurt a guy - or at least a guy's wallet. I keep waffling over getting a SACD player (actually, my DVD player in my HT system will do it, but that's not the good Audio system). And you come along with these temptations! You two are among the worst enabler (or is that best), out there! I'm proud of both of you!!!
  22. The Dragon and the Revox were ones I always covetted, but they were always WAY out of my league at the time. It's great to see someone who actually has both, and better yet, still has them in use. I do note that to your credit, they all seem to be single tape units. No fast dubbing specials, here - just quality. Now for the inevitable question - any favorites? Any that stand out as great or perhaps not so? Any especially neat features? I just have a very mundane Sony TC-FX6 unit that still gets a bit of use, but typically no recording - that's all done to CD these days. The cabinet is incredible. Absolutely beautiful work. The light unit across the top is a perfect touch. There are times I wonder if this group may not be half dedicated to Audio, half dedicated to incredible woodworking, and half dedicated to fast or great cars/trucks and motorbikes. Many here seem to excel at 2 or more of those (myself excluded - I stick to the audio, these days). Last, and far from least, you need to put up some pictures of what you play these through! And the switches that you use - those must be an incredible setup. Thanks!!!!!!!!
  23. Welcome to the group! Nice to have another Canuck on the group - there are a bunch of us here. There are plenty of technical experts, here, who can help you get that M500 back to 100% - myself, excepted. It's a great amp, and well worth a bit of effort to get going.
  24. Welcome to the site! Nice system - sorry to hear about the ribbons failing on you. You will find plenty of encouragement, here (potentially too much).
