Hello From New York
Brian_at_HHH replied to coolneil's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
Welcome to the group! There's definitely something wonderfully addictive about the old amps and stereo equipment. Let us know what you have (don't worry what it is), or barring that, let us know what you are dreaming of having. What gear appeals to you that brings you here?! -
Newbie from Edmonds Washington

Welcome to the group! Very nice collection of gear, there. If you are electronically talented, unlike myself, you'll find plenty of guidance to help you refresh it all here. If you soldering inept, like I am, there are also lots of folks here who can do it with the upmost professionalism, and leave you wondering how all that amazing sound had been hidden in there for so long. Good luck with it, either (or both) way(s)! In the mean time, join in the fun and enjoy the music! -
It doesn't, my friend - it's an ever deepening bottomless pit of audio perpetuity, with an every so slight touch of nirvana every once in a while, along the way. My advice is stop listening to the wallet, hang on tight, and enjoy the ride!!!!

Nothing wrong with the Yamaha receiver! At least it gives you the chance to quell the music withdrawal!!! -

Welcome to the Limelight, Dan! Glad you stepped out of the shadows. Odds are you won't believe that what you get back is the same amp you sent, but then, it essentially isn't going to be - other than the sound characteristics, of course. Do you have anything to tide you over until Greg finishes his magic, or are you stuck with headphones until the beast returns, home? I'll hold off on my usual suggestion to "enjoy the music" until I know you are back and able to do that! For now, join in the forums - you know, by now, which of us are crazy enough to avoid. -
Welcome to the site! Nothing like diving into Carver gear at the deep end! There are certainly folks here who can offer info on getting the most out of those Amazing's and keeping them there. Once you get a few more posts under your belt, and can, we'd love to see pictures of your setup! Tale care, and enjoy the music!

Hello from Delaware

Welcome to the group, Steve! You should be able to find willing help, here, with any issues you may wind up with questions over. Beyond that, please join in the fun, and remember to enjoy the music! -
Hello From Buffalo
Brian_at_HHH replied to metrxseven's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
Welcome to the group! I think I remember "Sounds Great," though I am on the other side of the lake from you, so I would have seen them only when I ventured down to the Buffalo area for an occasional shopping trip. In any case, glad to have you here - feel free to join in the fun and when you can, put up some pictures of what you've got. -
Welcome to the group, Virgil! Glad you found us, and I'm glad you were able to get the info you need on the belt. I hope installing it goes as easily. It's always great when we get another Canuck on board - we can't quite overwhelm those from the rest of the planet (and it wouldn't be like us to do that), but there are a good number of us, scattered across the country, here. Hope you get your 490t singing happily once, again. Feel free to join in the discussions and remember to take time to listen to the music.

Welcome to the group, Drew! I was already drooling over the Sansui 7700 before I read your story. OMG, you scored a free 7700, in THAT condition? Congrats indeed - at least it found a great home, instead of winding up as trash. Keep your eyes open for more such trash! In the mean time, join in the fun, here, and enjoy the music!

Thanks for the Add

Welcome to the group! Love your online name and avatar! As others have suggested, let us know what you're listening on - yeah, even the M300! Trust me, some of us didn't/don't have grandiose systems, here, so no worries whether it's something fantastic or a boom-box - as long as you get to enjoy the music. -
Greetings from Charleston SC....

Welcome to the site! I dare say not many folks would trade a TFM55 for much, but the Sunfire is probably one of the few things that can be worth such a trade. I can't offer to help much with any Sunfire questions, but there are folks, here, who very likely can, so ask away. In the mean time, join in the fun, and remember to enjoy the music.

Welcome to the site! Love your handle, BTW! You certainly have a taste for the best gear that can be conjured up for an even remotely tolerable price - very nice setup! I'm still stuck in the SS world, and afraid to go too deep into the black hole of tubes too much, but I completely understand the allure! Join in the fun, and as others have suggested, once you get past novice, we'd love to see some pictures of your setup. Actually, we'd love to hear it, but that doesn't translate so well over the internet. 😉

Hello. New to Carver and This Site.
Brian_at_HHH replied to Imafed's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
A belated welcome to the group @Imafed! The Chris(?) at Circuits & Things is part of the site, if not on all the time, and he's probably right to point you here to try and find bits and pieces like that. I'm afraid I can't help, but perhaps someone here will have a doner system they can help you with. At least you have it working which is the major part of the battle. Join in the conversations, and enjoy the music. -
Welcome to the site @C-Dub! can't offer any worthwhile guidance on the parts you may need, other than to agree with others that there are a lot of cases where it becomes necessary to "create" new capacitors out of multiple smaller ones. I've also seen where some people are creating adapters to allow a newer format cap to be adapted to the footprint of older (now unobtainium) caps. There are certainly options, and the various tech-oriented among us will help out - as some already have. In the mean time, please join in the fun, as well as tracking down how to refurb your amp, and enjoy the music.

New here, owned Carver since early 80's
Brian_at_HHH replied to Esprit's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
Welcome to the group, Lee!! There are certainly plenty of folks, here who are happy to share their knowledge & wisdom, though I will except, myself, WRT the actual electronics. -
Those kids have come a long way! Thanks @Sk1Bum
-
@#$%ing bluetooth keyboard! Keeps dropping letters. Oops - sorry Kurt!
-
Welcome Kurt! I followed a similar route - always wishing I could afford Carver gear in the 80's, and now having indulged myself with it. The people here are great, and always willing to share advice, ideas, and to contribte to the delinquency of a fellow Carver addict! You've definitely found the right lace for this.

Old To Carver, New To This Site
Brian_at_HHH replied to Robert Dada's topic in The Welcome Shop (Please read first)
Welcome to the group! You've certainly been in the Carver world for a while, and you clearly found your way to Chez Nahash5150 for some great updates on your gear. I can't help much on the TX-11a front, other than to suggest the Novice's gear (FS/WTB) or hang in for a bit and post it to the Member's gear (FS/WTB) once you get past the Novice stage - that likely won't take any time. Just beware that you don't wind up in a situation where you regret parting with it a little ways down the road! I see a lot of folks here lament doing exactly that. In the mean time, join in the fun, and remember to enjoy the music. -
Welcome to the group! I always loved the aesthetics of the 6250, so congrats on your new acquisition! Here's hoping that a quick cleanup is all she needs to start running nicely. As silly as it sounds, watch out for missing pre-out/power-in jumpers - that's always a favorite reason for someone selling off a non-working receiver. Good luck on the project! So is rebuilding the Klipsch speakers the next project after the 6250? I the mean time, join in the chatter, and enjoy the music.

Welcome to the group, Marco! I can't help much with your tuner knob questions, I'm afraid, but I would expect that someone here may be able to offer advice, or help. In the mean time, join in the fun and remember to enjoy the music.
