Shamrock 2 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 Thanks for the welcome guys that's awesome! Im also into my sansui and have a couple of nice old AU series amps Recently I picked up an Av806x with a cv28t preamp The 806x is in good shape but one of the channels makes really loud popping noises straight after starting up but goes ok after that. I love how the individual amp boards can be unplugged and removed. I took the offending channel board out and have gone over it for bad solder joints to no avail as yet The pre has really low output I have to turn the volume control to full for the amp to put out moderate volume with a cd player Any helpful ideas to go about tracing the problems would be really appreciated

niccolosito 328 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Welcome to the greatest audio site where most persuasive enablers congregate! Be prepared to take the path from the basic cdp/tt>preamp>amp>speakers system to increasingly becoming complicated and expensive gear like most people here have gone through. It's an abyss from which very few are able to escape with their wallets still in their pockets! Just kidding!! I'm only being 90% truthful. 1
