  1. I heard a pair of Rythmik servo controlled subs that were outstanding! I’m considering building an open Baffle servo controlled sub powered by a Rythmik plate amp!

  3. I have to agree on the ALS. I've never heard them until I visited a buddy a few years ago that had a stereo shop at one point. He always had a set running! Fell in love with the sound! Never thought I would be able to ever get a pair or have a house that could have room for the pair! Found a set 5 1/2 hours away at a steal of a price and jumped on it. Drove to pick them up (were trade-in's) at a hifi shop in Baltimore. They auditioned them for me (and still blew me away), and then a friend of the shop owners came in and they auditioned a brand new set of KEF floor standers for him. Same CD, same amp, same CD player! Couldn't tell the difference between my ALS's and the KEF's. And I paid 1/10th of the cost of the KEF's (which were $5K)! Got them home and have been living in audio nirvana since! (Note - caveat is I had to get divorced and buy a house with a partially finished basement! - Don't worry, the divorce and house came before the speaker acquisition!) As far as the polks go - I haven't heard a pair that I would walk away from! Had Monitor 5's and still have SDA-1C's and Monitor 12's Series 2. Paradigm (any of the older SE MKII's or MKIII's are good also - had a pair of 5 SE MKIII's - ex now has those!) Neil

  4. I finally got back from South Carolina. I picked up the set of CV's I bought a few weeks ago. Notice a little size difference? Had to slide them down the carpeted stairs because they were to big for me to carry them by myself.

  5. The newest members in the family and they are not CV's. They don't have the punch like the CV's but they also don't have the screaming horns.

  6. Hello, I am new to the carver world and actually just starting to get into home audio. Originally, I had a Yamaha receiver with a klipsch surround sound system which I thought sounded pretty darn good until a friend showed me his setup; consisting of a mxr150 with a pair of carver m200t amps running to some CV 15in pa's. I was completely blown away by how crisp, clear, and accurate it sounded. Needless to say, I now have my own mxr150 and a set of d-5s for now and my klipsch system sits in the garage. I am definitely interested in learning more about carver equipment and expanding my inventory so I figured this would be a great forum to be on.

  10. @AndrewJohn I have seen very little DJ stuff in my area. But my wife likes Bose speakers so I have located 3 sets to go look at while taking a nice little road trip. Probably add them to the living room surround for her and box up the Yamaha's for selling later. 141 2.2 and SA1000. These are very different than any Bose I have ever seen but they need foam and clean up. But for 50 doll hairs? I'll try them for TV use.

  11. I recently finished recapping my second M200t and decided to move the Cerwin Vegas out and hook up the Polk Monitor 10A for a change. I am really starting to like the sound of these little speakers. Its amazing the bass that comes out of these with just (2) 6.5 inch drivers and a passive speaker. The sound is totally different then the Vega's and I'm not changing my mind about my Vega's because they definitely have their place in one of my rooms and for certain music. But the idea of opening up and listening to a variety of speakers is really a plus when deciding what kind of speaker to buy. But then again I have seen a few of you with more than a few pairs and now I know why.

  15. Just finished the MV15B's today. I am only pushing these 4 CV's with the MXR 150. Sounds so good. The 4.0 is hooked up in this pic but I shut it down and hooked all of them up to the MXR.

  16. https://www.ebay.com/itm/184329810619?ViewItem=&item=184329810619 You can give these guys a call. They have been in business for a LONG time and I doubt they would have any trouble giving you info on that driver. I've done business with them when I lived in Tampa and they were outstanding folks. https://reconingspeakers.com/

  18. Welcome! I believe I might be helping you expand your inventory. M-1.0t, maybe? Rob's already a goner, but what a way to go...

  19. Welcome! It wasn't that long ago, that my system was based on a Yamaha receiver. They are no slouch when it comes to sound, but hearing something at the level of Carver gear can be quite an inspiration. I had known what I was missing, but your "friend" @Rob just dragged you to the brink of the OCCD abyss, and shoved you over the brink. Your wallet will shortly be taking a contract out on him. (Well done, Rob - throwing your friends to the lions! I'm proud of you.) The good news is that getting into a Carver based system can be quite reasonable, and the equipment lends itself really well to being maintained, and in some cases vastly improved, from an already amazing level. The downside is that given it's age, it's all at the point of needing a cap job. Electrolytic capacitors having about a 25 year life span, give or take. There no end, and no way out, so sit back, and enjoy the ride!

  23. I've noticed that a LOT of DJ gear is showing up on Facebook Marketplace... More CV DJ-type speakers of all sizes, (along with mixers and amp/processor rigged boxes). I picked up a pair of Peavey speakers, a Peavey amp, and a mixer, along with two effects processors and an EQ all in for $400. Garage is rocking! just sayin', if you are looking for PA speakers from CV, I'm seeing a good number of these on FB Marketplace, lately. I'm assuming that a lot of folks aren't getting gig-work, with COVID shutting down gatherings. Lots of bands and DJ's rethinking or looking for cash.

  29. Well the first thing that popped in my pea brain when you mention Cerwin Vegas is BASS! The tower speaks you showed will probably have more finesse with less glass shattering bass. That's my .03 worth but I will need a penny of change back....lol I love the detail of my DQ-20's but have to say the Amazings have a way of filling the whole room up with music even at low listening levels.
