@Sk1Bum I'm glad you asked. There are a few... 1) It permits easier serviceability of the PCB. No components are permanently covered like other retrofits available. 2) Its massive ground plane keeps the amp quiet. 3) Has much more substantial traces than other retrofits to connect the pos and neg High Rail voltages to each channel, eliminating the 20ga blue and red wires. 4) It's much better at allowing heat to escape the PCB rather than suffocating it like other retrofits. 5) It is cheaper and faster to install than other retrofits.12 points

$700 plus shipping might be high for us during this pandemic. I can accept payments. But let's take a look at what kind of deal this is. Cost of mkII mod = $505 [$425 ( plus shipping 2 ways, expect at least $40 each way)] Cost of eBay Black Faceplate = $134 [$120 (plus $10.33 shipping)] Shipping to you = $40 minimum Cost of base amp prior to work = $21 (700 - 505 - 134 - 40) A $21 amp. Where are you going to find clean M500t amp for $21. I am giving it away. 3 year warranty. Where are you going to get a trusted amp with warranty outside of buying an amp from myself, Greg, or Mark.5 points

Pic 1 is bob at a training session for Sunfire to introduce the new Sunfire speakers and compare them to the old plats in the picture, behind him is supposed to be 2 sunfire 600 amps for the power in the comparison but only one has the signature so I think they ran the plats on the 600 and the sunfires on a 300x2. And I sure hope they moved them off the wall for the comparison lol3 points

I would say "generally no" it doesn't really affect the unit sonically. It does mean replacing the volume control with one that isn't quite the same, but I don't believe there is any effect on quality, and if you are not used to a C1 without the new volume control, you would probably never notice anything. I suspect that the reason some may not be inclined towards doing the remote mod, aside from just maintaining originalility, is that it's (a) difficult (b) a hassle and (c) very precise, finicky work that takes some very serious skill and far more patience than an normal human being possesses. Oh, one more thing - it's also a serious Pain in the A$$ to do. I was able to beg one of the great techs, here, (Daddyjt) into doing it for me, and I couldn't be happier, but I do realize what I asked of him, and it wasn't easy work for him, even with his skill level. The precision, reqired, is something I wouldn't try to replicate, but I definitely appreciate what it took, and how welcome the remote is. Please keep in mind, too, that the only thing the remote controls is volume, so it's not going to give you full power/source-selection/etc. That was all I needed/wanted.2 points

Thanks! I'm very happy with this receiver. It has really curbed my thirst for buying more receivers. I picked it up for $600. The protection circuit would randomly engage. Turned out to be a bad zener diode on the protection board. After the repair I did a full recap and replaced known faulty transistors. It sounds amazing to my ears. It is rated at 85w/ch which is way more than I ever use.1 point

This is so tempting, but I got an unequivocal "no" on the approval of this purchase from the minister of S & F. Unfortunately, she is right. We have a second floor deck off of our master bedroom that started leaking...down the wall and into the dining room. Good Times. So our money is allocated elsewhere. But, I must say, that amp is quite the specimen. I hope someone buys it quickly, so that it stops taunting me.1 point
